Oak Park/Northwood is a traditional subdivision, complete with grid streets and homes dating back to the 1960s. Because it is an established neighborhood, giant oak trees enhance the landscape and offer shady streets and sidewalks to residents. Residents enjoy easy, fast commutes with Downtown San Antonio just 10 miles south. Other destinations directly south of Oak Park/Northwood include Fort Sam Houston Joint Base San Antonio, the University of the Incarnate Word, and the San Antonio Zoo.
Head northwest to the San Antonio International Airport and the North Star Mall. McAllister Park, also directly north of the neighborhood, features hiking trails, ball fields, and a dog park. While Oak Park/Northwood is mostly residential, you’ll find an H-E-B, Starbucks, and other businesses along Nacogdoches Road. More shopping is located just outside the neighborhood along Basse Road, including the very popular Torchy’s Tacos.

Property Ratings at Village Oaks Apartments
I just want to preface this review by saying if you don't read the review and its entirety read this. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX NO MATTER HOW OLD THIS REVIEW GETS, EVEN IF THIS PLACE GETS “NEW” MANAGEMENT, OR EVEN IF THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES... IT'S NOT WORTH IT. 1st up is Pest control. There's so many cockroaches everywhere! They CRAWL everywhere. No matter how clean you leave your apartment, how often you clean your apartment, how much you clean your apartment they will crawl. There's at least 5 of them just living, breathing, and breeding. And if you are walking at night the cockroaches will be everywhere and they SCATTER when they see you even if you don't see them. It will make you feel like you're on Fear Factor. The walls are paper thin. Now, this is a common thing to say about apartments but at this place it is true. I can hear my neighbors alarm clock every.single.morning. There's not a day goes by that I don't hear that dreaded ‘beep beep’ on the other side of the wall. Also prepare to live in a cave depending on which apartment you are in. Don't even make me bring up parking. You only get one covered parking spot per unit and that's whether you get a 2bd 2ba or 1bd 1ba. There are only 20 guest parking spots on the entire complex. Some are taken up by residents that have more than one vehicle per unit so there's realistically only 5 available parking spots so good luck fighting for those limited spots if you have a spouse or more than one vehicle. They do this monthly “clearing/cleaning the pipes” where they shut off all the water in the entire complex to flush out the dirty pipes that are slowly corroding away. They shut off the water for a minimum of 2 hours and when the water turns back on, it is a yellowish brown for at least 10 seconds. One time the water was brown for a whole 5 hours. When you voice your concerns to the office, the employees are never to be found. The office never has consistent office hours. So, every time you call them or walk to the office it's locked up and closed. It honestly feels like that they close it down on purpose during the times when most people would call just to avoid its residents. These are the worst maintained apartments I have lived in. absolutely the worst. avoid here at all cost
