Property Ratings at Village of Glen Wilde
The amount of issues I had with this place in just a few months is astonishing. Incompetent management, dirty & in dismay upon move in, and a lack of care from the leasing office. Paid a 2500$ security deposit 5 months before move in, yet was welcomed by a nasty oven, dozens of holes in walls, mismatched paint, broken door locks, broken fridge handle, leaking appliances, light bulbs out, and more. I was lied to on several occasions with the leasing office stating "someone will be out today", this went on for 4-5 days straight. It took getting the BBB involved before management finally decided to send maintenance out to repair anything. Here's an idea to improve: inspect the apartments before tenants move in, repair maintenance requests in a timely manner, and how about a little customer service? This place really does have the potential to be a nice complex, IF management cared about the living conditions. But hey, it's just for college students who don't know any better right? As a veteran paying for this place with an earned G.I.Bill, I expected a little common decency. Guess that's too much to ask.
I'll start by saying it's not a bad place as long as you don't need anything done from their management. We've been here for a month and still don't have a working mail key which is required by lease contract. We have no working lights in the bathroom for 1 room unless you plug something into an outlet that is outside the bathroom across the room on the far wall! It's obviously bad wiring. Management refuses to address any of these issues with even a response to our requests. I may change my rating (lower) the longer I go with no resolution.
I am new to Boone, and found Glen Wilde on this website. I live in a 2bd unit, and I love it! The space is huge! I love that each bedroom has it's own private bathroom, and washer/ dryer in unit. Plus, this location is secluded and quite. Even being majority student housing, I have never had a problem with noise, or vandalism. I am definitely staying another year! The Appalcart bus stops right outside the apartments, so it's a convenient way to get to campus. And one of the major selling points was living across from the Greenway so I can take my dog to the park often. Glen Wilde is pet friendly and a great place to live!
The apartment itself is nice. But I've had many problems with Kuester (the management group that owns/runs it). It took a month for to give me a mailbox key so I was able to get my mail. When I moved in I was supposed to get a key to my bedroom along with a key to the suite. It took four months and several trips to the office for them to tell me they did not even have a key and would need to install a new doorknob/lock. It was the front desk receptionist who eventually put in the work order for me, not the building manager I had talked to a month prior. And the thing that bothers me the most is that I am now six months into my lease and still have not received an electric bill. Its absolutely ridiculous that after six months they have still not given me a single bill for the electricity.
