Property Ratings at Village on Main Street
I have been here for over 3 years and have nothing but good things to say! It’s a quiet comfortable home with everything you need. I would highly recommend it!
Water, Sewer and Garbage are not included in rent. They send you a bill every month for these utilities. Plan on an extra 100 month. Garbage in the senior side is not picked up regularly. The hallways are at 80 degrees year round and so as you're sweating you get the smell of trash wafting down the hallways. The piercing sound of the smoke alarm goes off a few times a month for no reason. It's like a siren. My friend is an audiologist and was visiting me. He said the alarm sound is so loud it can cause permanent hearing damage. The indoor pool has been dark for 3 years. The pools inside light is out so its actually dangerous. Several times a month we are without water all together. Every other day water pressure is so low you can't shower properly. The water is so hard it runs all your dishes. The toilets have constant calcium stains. A tenant started a neighborhood watch telling everyone they would be included whether they wanted to participate or not and could only opt out by providing a phone number so she can call you. It feels intrusive that I am required to give my mothers telephone number. She is elderly and should not HAVE to participate!! The only thing good I can say is that they finally got some decent maintenance people that are friendly. Save yourself the time, money and sanity by choosing another place to live. We are moving my mother out as soon as we can. She is partially deaf and can still hear the neighbors going down the hallway. There is ZERO sound insulation. If you have diarrhea, your neighbors will know it. This could be a great community with some organization and common sense.
Plan on spending your morning commute walking across a wet foyer/mailroom. I have fallen twice in the last 18 months. We (meaning the entire community) have been without running water on two occasions: once for 2 days and the second time for 5 days. The toilets are very weak, plan on having a plunger in each bathroom. My two children and I have been without heat for over 24 hours, then room heaters were given to us while it took another 3-4 days to get the radiant heating working. If you are late on your rent, a 3-day vacate notice is put on your door with your first and last name revealed to anyone that walks by, amount of rent and late fee. Renters now pay trash and water. You will also be paying a monthly fee for your parking. Rent is more than what's listed on here. The elevators are out a lot with people moving in and out or the cleaning staff cleaning it. The gym below has vibrating music on at 5 and 6am, and between the hours of 6:25 a.m. and 7:25 a.m. there are 3 women from the gym that socialize outside of everyone's windows (the same 3 women for the last year). The upside: The gas and electric are very low here probably due to the radiant heating. Some of the residents are pretty friendly creating a community atmosphere. The indoor hallways are convenient in the winter. Most apartments have very pretty views of sunrise of sunset over the mountains.
I lived here for 2 years, the place is very nice. Management is semi-reasonable. It is secure access, but the office staff had no idea how to work the keys pads, so I never got my access numbers, a bit ridiculous. Reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is that half the complex is for over 55, and this place caters more to them then the family side of the complex.
I love how the building is secure at night and you need a card ( like a hotel) to gain access. Very safe!! My elderly mother visited me from time to time and with being on the road with my job...it was nice knowing that she was safe and if she needed anything, the staff was there to help. I have lived in many apartments over the years because of my job and this one is by far one of my favorites! I love it here at Village on Main Street. The staff is always friendly and they sincerely care about the residents. They have large and spacious bathrooms and walk in closets and stay super quiet!! They are in a great location close to lots of eating and shopping so you don't have to drive far. The maintenance and management are super friendly and get everything done right away. They always call to make sure that things are getting done and to ask if we need anything else fixed. They deliver reminders and fliers to all the doors to make us aware of what is going on around the property especially when there are any issues. I love living here and would recommend to anyone looking for an apartment. Great view! Great Location! Great set-up!
Poor maintenance , no air conditioning, stuff that needs to fixed.
This apartment complex has a senior living side (62 ) which started out as (55 ) six years ago when I became a tenant. It was a lovely place when it was new six years ago. Everything was kept up, management was good with an open door policy. Right now it's under new management and they have a closed door policy, they don't want to hear any complaints and there are many. The complex has gone down as far as indoor and outdoor maintenance of the property. There are two swimming pools, one outside for the family side and one inside for the senior side. The pool on the senior side has been out of service more then In service. The only time maintenance gets real attention is when there is going to be an inspection. The other plus about his complex is that it allows dogs, started at 25lbs and now is 45lbs, but several tenants have dogs that are at least 80-90bls (a pitbull, golden retriever and some others) which management has done nothing about. The apartment location is great (near stores, freeway, churches, restaurants). I personally have not had any major problems living here, my rent is reasonable, but on the higher side. I am still employed and able to afford living here, but unhappy how things have changed in six years.
This apartment has nice sized closets, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Everything is easily accessible by a wheelchair. It is pet friendly and the neighbors have all been great. We have had issues with our air conditioner and things like the toilet not working but the maintenance crew for Village on Main have not rested until fixing our every request. No complaints with management or staff. They are friendly and quick to respond. The apartment was clean when we moved in and is a very comfortable setup. There are only a few complaints. First off, moving in was awful. We are on the third floor in the back corner so getting everything up into our apartment by elevator took FOREVER. This also means that grocery shopping is a major ordeal. As a mamma of a baby, getting anything home is near impossible without my own cart and extra hands. These are not necessarily complaints about the apartment complex but something to think about when considering apartments. The elevator does have a habit of breaking down and the fire alarm goes off way too much. I probably wouldn't mind these two if I didn't have a baby. Otherwise, we really love living here.
