Property Ratings at Traver Courts
This property was bought out by McKinley during my lease with the last owners. The property itself is decent & in a nice location/neighborhood but the first thing they did was raise our rent without proving any apt updates for existing residents (I have a friend at a McKinley property elsewhere which they have done the same). They will do anything to take your money. I needed to make a lease modification to get out of an unhealthy living situation with an ex partner. In order to get my name off the lease. even though my partner was staying and carrying out our contract, they are charging me 200 just to take my name off… unbelievable.
My husband and I have lived at Village Park for 2 years. We are moving out in June, so our apartment is the one listed available June 20 if you’re looking now. The property management have been really kind, and although there have been a lot of city inspections (COVID delayed), management has always been timely in responding to our needs and notifying us of what’s happening. They are always responsive - we had flooding and they worked with us when I proposed a rent discount based on the # of days we couldn’t use the rooms in our apartment. We hope it doesn’t flood this spring (they didn’t fix the underlying foundation issue in our building that I know of), but overall they worked to help us out. It’s super dog friendly, and we love the dog park on site. The pool seems to always be under maintenance at the beginning of the summer, and then they say it will be open late (in September), but we all know that the pool closes itself when the weather gets cold and I’d much rather use it in June! They do community events we haven’t really participated in, but it’s nice to know they’re offered. We’ve made friends with neighbors and everyone is really nice just in general. I also like having a carport- makes all the difference in the winter! I’m really giving them 5 stars because they have always worked with us, there’s great trails and woods around the property, and we’ve been thankful to be here through COVID - Getting our money’s worth that way for sure! Feeling nostalgic about leaving! The new(ish) property manager, Jason, is also awesome & super helpful, he always says hi or waves when we see him around the property. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend, even with the issues. We’ve never had money issues we couldn’t work through with management - people are human and mistakes get made, but we haven’t had anything major.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to share your experience with our team here at Village Park of Ann Arbor. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you and your husband for choosing to call our beautiful community, located in the heart of Ann Arbor, your home for the last two years. We appreciate you furnishing us with this feedback, as we're always looking for ways to enhance the quality of the experiences we provide. I have been living here for 7 months and I am writing a review because the management is absolutely outstanding! The office is very responsive to questions and concerns over the phone, email, and in person (when they aren't available they respond to messages promptly). The people working in the office are very enthusiastic and seem to genuinely care about the residents (this is very different from the previous Ann Arbor apartments I have lived in). When I have questions I usually go straight to the office because they are really nice and address my concerns on the spot! I have placed one work order so far when one of my mirrored closet doors broke and they replaced it right away at no cost. When I moved to Village Park of Ann Arbor from another apartment the management worked with me to secure my lease and change the listed move-in date so that it would coincide with the end of my other lease and save me money. They also have fun community events and the pool/locker room/workout room/squash court are kept very clean and equipment is in good condition. The apartment complex is located next to a beautiful park with two tennis courts, a jungle gym, and lots of open space. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice and a great place to take walks. Overall, I've had a great experience so far. I wish I had known about this place when I moved to Ann Arbor four years ago and would highly recommend!

I have lived in this community for about 10 months and I really enjoyed the past ten months in this beautiful community. I am living in a 2B1½B apartment. First, I like the floor plan. I have two daughters. With the ½ bathrooms, the diaper time, potty time and bath time is much easier for me. Second, the location of this community is very convenient. It is not only just ten mins drive to grocery stores, pharmacy, universities, restaurants and highway, but also one of the best school districts in Ann Arbor. Third, the maintenance is friendly and in-time. I had some leaking problem of the A/C, they came on the day I reported the problem. Especially, the leaking happened again for twice. They always gave quick response and finally found the problem from a block between two layers. Moreover, the new administration team at the rental office is amazing. Not only being supportive to the tenants all the time, but also holding more fun community events every month. I like the life here. Thanks!

They do nickel and dime their tenants. Very hard to work with the management, especially when it's time to renew your contract. They always do mistakes and give you false information. Be super careful with them. The ground was okay apart from being very noisy from highway. Since day one we had issues with our bathroom faucet and flushing, they couldn't fix it permanently.

We will utilize the feedback you have shared to improve our communication and customer service. Thank you, Village Park of Ann Arbor Management
I have lived at village park for almost a year now and have had a really good experience. The maintenance staff answers service requests in a prompt manner, and everyone in the front office is friendly. The apartments back up to the woods, so there is always a beautiful view from the porch/balcony during each season. It is close enough to downtown Ann arbor for a fun evening, but far enough away from campus that you are not subjected to crazy traffic/ students everywhere. It is also convienently located near the entrance to M 23/14. Each unit has it’s own washer and dryer. The one downside is that the walls are quite thin, so you can easily hear your neighbors, but overall a good place to live.

My name is Mary and I have lived at Village Park for many years now. I love the diversity, friendly staff, wonderful view. It is a place I call HOME! We have many social activities that bring people together. In summertime, the pool is open and the place to go; and in wintertime there are many fun sledding hills to play on. It is a pet-friendly community with beautiful walking trails throughout the property. Easily within walking distance of a city bus route. Zach, our Property Manager and Joel, our Maintenance Manager plus the hardworking staff do everything possible to make this a place that you want to call "HOME".

This place is the biggest bait-and-switch in Ann Arbor. Don’t let the well-groomed landscaping and nice amenities in the clubhouse fool you. The apartment interior is run down. Just ask to see your actual apartment BEFORE signing your lease and see what happens (don’t settle for the model!). My apartment had obvious problems like broken kitchen cabinets and light fixtures the day I moved in. It’s like they never repaired or cleaned anything from the previous resident. If you want any maintenance, they give you the runaround for weeks. Be prepared to call and stop by the office every day to ask about your maintenance. I’ve lived in 3 different apartments in Ann Arbor. The other two were much cheaper than Village Park but were better experiences overall because the management would actually work with you in good faith instead of giving one line of bs after another. A word to the wise. If they make any promises or special accommodations for you, be sure to get it written into the lease! Don’t take the manager Zach’s word for it (or anyone’s word for that matter).

My wife and I have been living here now for almost a year. From the time we moved in we have been having a very bad experience with the noise that is coming from the flooring of the topper unit all around the home and all the time. The topper floor resident moved out and new ones got in but we still having the same problem even overnights every nights so that neither me nor my wife could go to sleep even with earplugs. Both of us go to work and school with headache every morning because of not having proper sleep over the nights. I spoke with the management several times and not only they are not caring and willing to listen (or at least send someone to properly investigate the issue) but also they are aggressive. They are indifferently suggesting me to bear the noises or I should pay the breaking fee and move out. They are not willing to work out the issue. I believe this is problem goes back to this specific building and it's flooring but we are not satisfied with the property manager's approach to this problem and I suspect if any other issue is going around the treat the residents with the same aggressive not-caring attitude.

I lived at Village Park for 2 years - while the property itself is nice, we had a lot of frustrations with maintenance and management. Our apartment was on the ground floor and we experienced flooding multiple times. The last time it flooded all the way to our bedrooms, and took almost a week to get resolved - first they decided they were not going to replace the carpet, only the carpet pad and put industrial blowers throughout the apartment. I had a 7 month old at the time and literally had to carry her everywhere because the carpet was dirty and soaking wet. Finally after two days and the carpet still soaking wet they decided to replace the carpet after all. However, it took 2 more days of cold, cement flooring before they could get in to replace it, which meant two more days we had to be out of the house or carry the baby everywhere. We spoke w/ the leasing office multiple times and they offered no compensation or help, basically they said sorry and that the flooding was a "freak accident" which was untrue because 1.) It had flooded before and almost flooded about 3 more times before the big flood 2.) There are reviews stating that flooding had been an issue for years. We were responsible for moving everything out of every room so that they could replace the carpet and offered no help, which we had to do while still working and taking care of our baby. We asked about moving apartments and were told there was nothing available, only to find out that 2 days later a neighbor was moved after threatening to sue. So then our lease wasn't up until March but sudden life events meant we needed to move in January. We spoke with management, but because of the way they calculate fees for breaking the lease we were told it would be cheaper to remain in our lease until March (even though we would be moved out by Dec 30) then it would be to break the lease. We attempted to work out something more mutually beneficial, because it benefited neither us nor management to have an empty apartment for 3 months, but they were not willing to work with us at all. Once March came they did not contact DTE to get the utilities out of our name, so I had to make more phone calls and they still haven't gotten back to us about our deposit. Maintenance was frequently an issue while we lived there, things would be fixed immediately (same day) or they would forget about it and you'd have to call multiple times on an issue. I'm very glad to be done with the headache of living there!

We moved in a couple months ago with a terrible start. When we toured the property, a week before moving in, we were assured the apartment we would get would be renovated with in the week and would be ready to go when we moved in. The day we were moving in the office staff was 45 minutes late to open the office and give us our keys. We walked in our apartment and nothing had been touched since we toured it. We waited two months before all the renovations were complete, and came to find out that they were 12 apartments behind in renovating. Therefore, the office staff were well aware that our apartment would not be renovated by the time we moved in. Because they were renovating the kitchen and bathrooms, we lived out of boxes for the first two months. How frustrating! It's disappointing because this community is in a great part of town if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of things. It is also a convenient drive to 23 if you have to commute and it's settled within a nice little neighborhood, nice for running/walking/biking. With only being here a few months, I'm hoping things improve but I'm doubtful with the way the office and maintenance staff behave.

I've lived here for a few months now and I've really enjoyed the apartments and surrounding area. The nearest gym (Anytime Fitness) is 5 minutes away and there's a grocery store and strip mall only a few minutes after that. The apartments are close to the US-23 and I've commuted to the opposite side of the city limits (near Saline) driving about 15 minutes each way. If you're lucky enough to get an apartment with a balcony facing the woods, you'll enjoy a great view. Maintenance is quick to attend to any concerns - my roommate had sink troubles and the maintenance team replaced his sink in a day. The common areas are well maintained and clean and it's convenient to spend a few hours at the media center enjoying the wifi, get a run in at the fitness center, or go for a swim at the pool and hot tub. The apartments are completely free of pests - the worst I had was a fire fly I accidentally let in on a nice summers night. Most of the residents that I've met are small families or young professionals.
amazing community environment. the moment when i first saw the grass of in the garden, i knew i will live here. office is efficient. room is little old, but not dirty at all. the only disadvantage is the price. i need to set up everything by myself and pay for them. dte energy and internet. i'm lazy and i dont like this
Did not enjoy living here very much. The properties are clean, but not very well maintained. All of our window frames seemed to be rotting and didn't do a good job sealing. During the winter, ice built up at the bottom of the window frames and sliding door frames. We also had our furnace completely break down over a weekend with lows of -20, my guess is this is directly related to the fact that things aren't maintained well and repaired between tenants. I should say, the maintenance staff is very kind and attentive whenever you have problems. I would rate them 5 stars if given that option. The location of our building is VERY close to the highway, such that we couldn't sleep with the window open because of how loud it was. We moved from out of state, and were assured that you could barely hear it. The location isn't very exciting, but that's obviously not something to fault the apartment complex for. Overall, I wasn't very happy living here and felt that the apartments were not well kept. However, I recognize that it could be much worse. They were clean when we moved in, maintenance is always available, and they do have some amenities like a pool and gym. Definitely a livable place, but there are much better options in Ann Arbor.
