Located in the eastern arm of Denver roughly nine miles from downtown, Montbello feels more like a suburb than part of a major metropolis. The neighborhood hovers between a historic industrial community and a new, post-collegiate destination. One of the largest neighborhoods along the I-70 corridor, Montbello lies directly north of where I-225 ends, wedged between I-70 to the south and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge to the north.
Notably diverse and energetic, Montbello remains far enough removed from downtown Denver and the Tech Center to form its own identity, complete with a vast array of churches, schools, and recreational centers. Montbello reaches a defined character that eludes most suburbs, evolving from a working town near the old Rocky Mountain Arsenal into a haven for individuals looking to start their lives in an affordable, friendly environment.

I've lived here for a year. I've had my Hyundai Elantra stolen and I know of two others that got stolen from the same parking lot. I just recently had both my cars towed because expired permit for parking. 2 hours after expiration. No warning. No 24-hour notice. Just a $500 recovery fee. And a uber ride. While living here I've seen stolen cars parked in the area that don't get picked up for months cars with no wheels up on blocks for weeks. I'll struggled for more than 8 months to have my bathroom fixed the ceiling leaks from the bathroom above which is disgusting. Appliances don't work well. They leave the air conditioner off until halfway through the summer. People drive like crazy in there and there's crashes and one of the crashes occurred right in front of my apartment involved high-speed motorist and three cars and a bicyclist and the speed limits 10 miles an hour. The ramshackle dysfunction of this place is amazing if I had it to do again I'd choose any other place.. if you're desperate and you have to live in this place it's not the worst of the worst but be ready for a rough ride.

I would give this zero stars if I could. I have been homeless before and this is still the worst place I have ever lived. This place is terrible in every way possible. The day after we moved in someone set fire to pile of furniture in the giant roll-off dumpster in the parking lot. The first week there we placed an online order from Domino's across the street. The called us and verified what apartment complex we were in and proceeded to tell us that we would have to come pick it up as the don't deliver to The Villages at Gateway because of the number of times their drivers had been robbed. The police pounded down our door three times in six months looking for different fugitives. One of the times they asked to search our apartment, guns drawn the entire time. They tore down all the balconies as they were deemed unsafe after a pregnant woman fell through one. They would enter the apartment with no notice regularly. They towed my car TWICE. The first time saying that I didn't have a parking permit which they had never said I needed and wasn't detailed in the lease. I missed work, got my car back, and paid for the permit. They said they were out of the stickers but assured me that the towing company had been notified that my car was approved to be there. The next morning my car was gone again. They never reimbursed me. Worst of all? Bedbugs. We noticed and reported the issue a few weeks after we moved in. It took them a month to do anything about it. They refused to treat the surrounding units so the bugs kept coming back. 4 treatments in six months. I'm immunocompromised and the bites made me so sick. The office staff were at best, apathetic and negligent. At worst they were agressive, hurling curse words and threatening to call the police. We had such a strong case against them that they let us out of our lease 6 months early and waived rent for the final month we were there. You would literally be better off living in your car.

Everything about this place is awful. I understand that you're thinking that anyone leaving a negative review is probably bitter about something that won't apply to you. I assure you that my review is not hyperbole. The exterior is filthy. There is trash everywhere all of the time. It blows around from over-filled dumpsters, along with furniture overflowing and strewn up in piles. The water, heating, plumbing, and air are all always broken is some shape or form. Your maintenance requests will be ignored. There are ants, roaches, wasps, squirrels, raccoons, and stray animals everywhere. You will be assaulted by noise every single day. Screaming, slamming doors, loud music from apartments and cars. Fireworks, parties, police, children, airplanes, traffic, sirens, gunshots, obnoxious loud inconsiderate people. The office management is entirely uninterested in any of your problems. They will raise your rent if you renew. They raised everyone's rent during the pandemic. You pay for parking, there will never be a space near your building, and there is no security or safety in the parking lot. No lights, no sort of security, and the gate is broken. I don't know the condition of anyone else's apartment, but I know that mine was hastily painted instead of cleaned before I moved in. The paint is so thick and they painted the outlets - I can't use most of them. They painted the bathroom tub and sink and the paint peeled off after the first day of using them. Seriously. Don't move here. Living here has been absolutely miserable. I cannot wait to leave next month.

I moved here in 2019. The apartment had lots of hidden problems. I was only shown a model apartment before signing the lease. Had roaches almost immediately. The property manager refused to give me anything off my rent due to all the problems with the apartment. I will be moving out as soon as I can get out of my lease. Stay away from this place.
I move here not to long ago with my fiance and we are happy to be here we made a good decision on moving here. We are original from CA and CO will be our new home for the next year and we are more then sure we will be staying in Villages for our stay in this state. My move in process was easy and smooth the girls from the office made sure everything was perfect in the apartment from day 1. I've been in the office a few times and they always make sure I get the help I need. Thank you Villages and thank you office girls.
Not safe for kids. Missing children flyers posted on premise, trash taking up rows of parking spaces (20 spots), glass and trash everywhere including the playgrounds, pools have disgusting build up of something (grease and/or soap, like someone has been taking a bath in it), homeless sleeping in stairways, water comes out rusty sometimes, inconsistent water temperature, gates never close letting in all sorts of trouble, swat team raids, residents fighting dogs at midnight in the common areas, no parking spots (probably because the gates don't close), (weekly) new dents and scratches on personal vehicle, residents play music obnoxiously loud with the door open before 8am and throughout the day, fences falling, this place is most certainly not worth the rising rent cost, too many negatives to list. To the response: The office cant handle the issue, this is a major problem with the bad residents and lack of any legal/regulation enforcement, over crowding, drugs, and much more. Places will not deliver here. Cops suggest to stay away from the area as well. If your generic response is genuine, let me out of my lease so I do not have to stay in this place. I do not want to be here another day. I do not want to go outside here, nor do I want to stay here. This is the worst place I have lived in my life. I have posted a picture of the rusty water here. Also shutting one gate and not the other doesn't keep out vehicles and drug deals that we do not want happening around (in the parking lot) ourselves or kids in the complex. ..... I have been to the office. I have also called the office. They were soooo helpful. They raised my rent and said its due. Thank you for your help directing me to the office. You must be very proud of your 1 star apartment complex. If we could vote 0 stars, things may be different. This is my last month here and I can not wait to leave. My lease is up and if I can get out sooner I absolutely will. I have been counting the days to when I can get out of this nasty, unsafe place. I have wanted to leave since the 1st week of being here. When I approached the office the 1st time they were extremely nice and I had confidence they would resolve my issue. This is not what happened. After months of the same issue I called and spoke with the manager of this facilities property manager (so they said). She was not helpful and gave me false hope.
the property manager is absolutely AMAZING!!! She responds right away to things brought to her attention. She treats everyone equally and goes above and beyond to make sure ALL TENANTS are addressed. I think that the negative comments do not reflect the fact that since she came things are 100% different and that all you need to do is go to her and be patient no bashing necessary.
My apartment was broken into because they did not fix my window after the first time I complained. After the robbery they finally decided they would fix the window. Roaches everywhere even after setting bug bombs. In total this place is horrible.
This place is honestly terrible! I tried giving it a chance, but they failed. There are bed bugs and roaches. My shower and toilet was broken and they never came and fixed it was literally in the office everyday! Claudia one of the ladies in the office was a terrible liar! Never helped what so ever!
I've never lived in an apartment me and my kids are looking forward to the change and the villages is in my price range. The agents was really friendly and helpful
Do not live there please if you can help it. Bugs roaches and stray cats with fleas. Office staff are not very friendly. Maintenance people don't speak English. Trash all over the place. To much noise and swimming pool is never open.
Staff was aggressive in their sales manner, and the rental rate changed upon visiting the site the second time.
We love our new home! We can't wait to spend more time there!
Do NOT rent from this place! The service is horrible!! The apartment homes are infested with roaches! The community grounds are littered with trash and the parking is absurd. I've been waiting since June to have my AC serviced and when I called for the 4th time that's when the office staff told me that they contract out to another company for AC repair. The onsite laundry room floors are always flooded, or the washing machines are backed up with water. THINK TWICE before moving in the villages at gateway!!!
This place is the worse place I ever lived its infested with roaches and bedbugs. Every time I call or go the the office to complain or tell them to come and spray and fix my A/C they never come the more we ask them to come and do something about it the more they ignore us, when we saw the model it was beautiful I mean the carpet was white fluffy what can I say I loved it but when we got our apartment that image change the carpet is like the ones from the offices and its brown so u would not see the roaches walking around, in winter time my heater didn't work and now in summer my A/C doesn't work we just don't know what to do anymore so if you ask me to rate this, this is the worst place ever if you want to move here think about it twice
