Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Violett On Melrose Apartments
Worst place I have lived over the past 7 years! I do not recommend this apartment for anyone looking to live in Capitol Hill. The biggest upside to the apartment is the location and price but the downside does not balance out the heartache of living here. Throughout our stay here, many of the appliances in the unit had to be repaired. The washer and dryer unit could never wash or dry our clothes thoroughly. Maintenance attempted to fix this issue multiple times but the problems kept on occurring. At one point, the laundry machine leaked water and caused significant water damage to our belongings. The property manager suggested that we use the machines in the laundry room on the first floor even though one of the reasons we moved into the apartment was for an in-unit laundry machine. The sink and garbage disposal had a lot of issues and were clogged. Management told us to avoid using the sink for multiple days. The bathtub and tiles began peeling less than a year into our stay. The elevator in the building is very small and slow. There was a period of time where the elevator did not work and was under repair for months. This was an issue for our guests that needed elevator access. We were told that the elevator would be fixed at a certain date but management waited until after the date they had promised to give us an updated date. They were unable to hit the updated date and did not fix the elevator until months later. The worst part of the apartment was the charges made upon moving out. Throughout our renters history, we have never been charged for wear and tear on a bathtub. I have never seen a bathtub peel like the ones in Violett. We were told that general wear and tear would not take away from the security deposit. However, we were charged $600 for the bathtub and tiles. Please heed my warning and do not live here. We were constantly lied to throughout our stay in the apartment. Until they find better owners that are responsible for the product they are selling, then no one should live here. The lack of accountability at Violett apartments, managed by Azose, is unacceptable. They do not care about their tenants! Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else!
