Property Ratings at Virginia Village
RENTER BEWARE! Just don’t do it. Items were stolen off my porch, that’s not the property’s fault. However, persistent pest problems that are band-aided rather than fixed, terrible grounds maintenance, and parking lot being an ice rink in the winter because they don’t plow until 2-3 days after snow (even when a snowstorm drops 12 inches) are their problem! It’s clear that money is priority #1.
Would not answer call or respond to call about availability. Don't waste your time with this place.
I scheduled a viewing to see an apartment and the manager never showed up. My boyfriend and I waited in the car for at least 20 minutes, called her, emailed her…nothing. It’s really unfortunate because I loved these apartments and the location.
They do not accept any housing assistance, they claim they are not 55 and older, they allow smoking in their apartments and they said they are multi family. There is none of this on their web site. The message I got was very short, rude, and very cold. I will not apply there.
The apartments aren’t all that bad if you can deal with listening to your neighbors screaming children at all hours of the day.
I have lived at Virginia Place for the last couple of years. I have seen a lot. The walls are thin and you can always hear your neighbors. You can smell the weed through the walls when they wake up in the morning and when they get home from work. Since living here I am not joking when I say that I kill at least 3-4 spiders / centipedes a week. I have many many repairs since I have moved in. Anything from flooding to broken appliances. The biggest thing would be that I have had numerous possessions stolen from me totaling almost $1600. Which I have notified them of and they refuse to even look into this or address this. In winter the parking lot turns into a glacier because they never salt. but don't you worry, every year they raise my rent as they keep the rental prices the same as when I originally moved. Please let my poor experience motivate you to find something better. God bless PS: None of this is a fabrication.
Property Manager at Virginia Village, Responded To This Review
Dear you can find better, We are a bit concerned that you may have placed this review against the wrong property for many reasons; one of them being our complex is The Virginia Village Apartments. If you are our current resident thank you for your residency and for your review. We do take every review into account for training purposes. I'd like to address the issues listed in your review. We have specific protocol and follow all state laws and guidelines for the 25 plus years we have been in business. 1. Smelling weed is a concern. Had you called our offices we recommend contacting police and/or we will have our onsite staff sent over to that unit and contact the police themselves. We have a great relationship with the Appleton Police Dept. we receive police reports and notifications. We have not received any regarding the situation you speak of. 2.Unfortunately spiders and centipedes do happen. We do treat for this if we are notified. Per your lease any request other than emergency maintenance must be put in writing. All written paper notices are uploaded to our online system and attached to the residents unit. We always recommend using our online resident portal to submit your request electronically. Either way any and all requests are linked the residents unit. The requests go directly to our staff including the Corp office staff. Maintenance is tracked via our online system. We can see when our staff is in progress, has completed the request, our staff can enter notes, etc. Everything is documented. If you entered a request that wasn't completed in a timely fashion our supervisors can see this. We have not received any calls nor any complaints regarding work not being done. We have had no reports of flooding. We are not certain what you are referring to. 3. If a theft occurred police should have been contacted. This would be a civil issue. We recommend you contact police and your rental insurance company. We are very sorry to hear about this. We have no knowledge of this. You state you contacted someone from our company. Who did you contact? Prior to writing our response we investigated the issues stated in your review to properly respond. Not one staff member is aware of this theft. 4. We have a snow crew which plows, shovels, and salts. This last winter was a harsh one, however we had crews working around that clock. We can track this as well. 5. Due to the cost of living we do occasionally have to increase rents. This would be done in writing with proper notification. This is tracked as well. This year (2019) we issued a rent increase of $19 to $20. Prior to this rent increase we have not issued an increase for about 3 to 4 years. This is tracked in our system as well. We do apologize you feel the way you do. We never want to have dissatisfied residents. This is why we have all the policies and procedures we do. We are continuously training our staff for this exact reason. Sincerely, National Management, LLC
I used to live at Virginia Village. Used to be a nice place to live until this new management took over. The new manager lied, made stories up to cover herself. Was SO fake!!!! Could see right through her. They got rid of good tenants by raising the rent to where it was ridiculous, because they were renting new apartments for less expensive. Then when I left, I left the place cleaner than it was when I moved in, and she made up lies to the owner, and took a big chunk of my security deposit! Shes a lier, and the owner does nothing. They dont return phone calls, she text. (Real professional) Ask about the heat, because its electric and its not included. Cost a fortune. I rate this place a rip off, with owners that dont care about they're tenants. All about money. Im so glad I moved after all. Ive caught her looking in apartments without notice while the tenant was gone. Peeking in the windows, lying to other tenants, unbelievable. The old management last year were great. Responded to you, cared, kept the property nice etc...

We here at National Management would like to extend our deepest apologies regarding the experience you had with our company. Once these issues were brought to our attention we have had a change in personal or our Virginia Village Apartments due to complaints and experiences with this manager similar to yours. We would also like to thank you for bringing these issues to our attention so we can better serve our customers now and in the future.
These apts are aweful!!! Windows are drafty, causing your heat bill to be over $250 per month during the winter, it takes 3-5 min to get hot water to shower, and the neighbors are trashy. Since the new manager Nancy took over things have been horrible!!! The office is never open and your phone calls are NEVER answered!!! And when things are finally fixed, they are done very poorly and the very cheapest way possible. And the owner, Dave, is a bigger joke than the manager. He is very rude and arrogant, and could care less about anything other than money. Just look at the owners record on CCAP and you can tell by the multiple harassment/restraining orders that he is not stable. RUN AWAY... As fast as you can or you'll be sorry!!!!!!!
