Property Ratings at Vistas at Stony Creek
RENTER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From management to maintenance, do not waste your time at this place. My husband and I were scheduled to move in on August 9th, so we moved out of our other apartment on the same day to avoid over paying. When we arrived to pick up our keys we were told that the maintenance man would meet us at our apartment to do a walk though and that he had our keys. Seemed weird since that not common practice but we figured it was nothing to worry about. When we arrived in our apartment, (we were told it would be brand new and fully renovated with new appliances, cabinets and bathrooms) However, when we arrived there was broken/ missing kitchen cabinets, multiple dents all over our fridge, missing cabinets in the bathroom, both showers had peeling paint all over them from the person they hired not doing a completed job (this turned into a terrible problem as our showers would get clogged from the constant paint peeling) , a broken washer/dryer, touch up paint all over the apartment in the wrong color and to top it all off, NO HOT WATER. We were told these things would be fixed but that we had to leave the property for 48 hours at a time to do so. We are from out of state so we had no where to go for 48 hours besides a hotel which the apartment complex said they would not cover the cost of lol. The maintenance people were able to fix the broken cabinets and get us a new water heater (after 5 days lol) and a worker washer and dryer. However, the rest of the issues we were unable to fix and had to live with until we could afford to move out. Now it came time for us to finally move out of this dump. When we moved out we were hit with an $800 fee for things that were out of our control. After sending them 19 PHOTOS of damage from our move in date and all of our emails with the old manager (Carolyn), they deducted only $100 and sent us a copy of our 'damage report' from when we moved in..... when we moved in we were told not to fill this out as we would not be charged for damages that occurred but the old manager did not save this information/photos/emails so they FORGED the document with my husband's signature. I emailed them over the original copy that we still had and an email from the office telling us not to fill this out and they have not since replied. Please take this as a warning and do not rent here!
This was a great place to live at first. After the first year, rent started going up, but the maintenance of the property and individual units began to decline. Our open maintenance requests are months old now, we’re hesitant to let our kids play outside. Police have been called to the same apartment just across from us on a regular basis for the last year. And all the farther we get with the management is an apology.
Rent is expensive which would be ok if you got value. However, the grounds are poorly maintained. Many of the exterior lights don’t work and aren’t fixed for weeks or months. There are about 1.2 parking spaces per unit so you know people will have to park on the street. Dog poop is everywhere. Dumpsters overflow with garbage on the weekends. Rats infest one dumpster. Bushes grow so large they block sidewalks for weeks and months before being cut. The units themselves are fine. The maintenance tickets are resolved quickly and the maintenance team is great. But management clearly never walks the grounds or takes pride in the grounds since they would see the landscaping and other issues.
Best apartment complex I’ve ever lived in! Kendall at the front desk is awesome and is one of a kind! Thank you guys so much!
I have had issue after issue with this management company. I was given a date for move in and I had packed all my belongings traveling over 9 hours from out of state. I received a call the day before my move in date that the apartment would not be ready for another 3 days. I was appalled that they would think I could change movers and rental truck without any notice. I was able to move in 2 days after my original move-in at my own cost. They blamed the delay on apartment maintenance but I know they just weren't organized. This should have been the first major warning sign not to rent with them. After move-in there were several items in the apartment that needed to be fixed but maintenance was able to fix these within a week or two. The first several pay periods, there were hundreds of additional dollars added to my bill. WATCH OUT! If I had not noticed these, I would have been paying them money I didn't owe them. It took over 3 months to get those items removed from my bill. Recent burglaries of vehicles in the parking lot. I would not park a new vehicle here. Recent weeks they posted a sign on doors to move vehicles with less than 48 hours of notice. I was out of town and did not see the hanging flyer. No additional communication of any sort with vehicle owners. My vehicle was towed at my expense and the management said too bad... not their problem. A note on the door was enough notice. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone.
I moved out the first of June and my account was clear and paid, I never received a final bill or statement from them. On Aug 1 I receive a call from a collection agency saying that I owe them over 600 dollars but they will settle for 490 to clear it up. I explained that I have no idea what they are talking about as I have never received a bill from the apartment complex. I was instructed that this is just how they do things at Vistas they do not send a final bill, they just send it directly to collections and jack up your credit needlessly. I was never late with my rent and I made sure my apartment was clean and cared for. When I left I made sure my account was paid in full and awaited a final word on my deposit. What I got was a call from a collection agency. I have no idea what I just paid for as again I never received a final statement, I just had to pay to try and clear up my credit that they had just screwed up. I do not appreciate not being given the chance to pay my bill directly and treated like a looser who does not pay their bills and have my credit hit for no reason. Now I have to spend my time sending a release letter to the credit agencies to try and clear this up. Who is going to pay for my time that I now have to spend cleaning up a mess that was forced on me?? No one, they do not care about peoples good names or credit.
This has been our residence for the past 10 years and they have kept the property up very well. We would love to move into a bigger space but as we are getting older moving would be a little difficult. This place has been a very awesome living experience.
