Property Manager at The Vue, Responded To This Review
Hi Carl, We greatly appreciate your positive feedback! Thank you for sharing your experience with Aaliyah at The Vue.
I had sewage waste explode out of my kitchen sink before leaving for work on the 4th of July, only a few months after moving in, and they refused to do anything about it. I was in a studio and the entire place was uninhabitable and wreaked of human waste. All of my dishes were destroyed, all countertop appliances destroyed, everything hanging on the side of the fridge destroyed. This was my first apartment and everything I had had just been gifted to me or I had been taking care of for a long time. All gone. Couldn't sleep in my apartment for A MONTH, because it took them a full day to get someone to even come look at it, and then a week to have them clean any of it after telling me it wasn't safe for me to try to clean it myself. But all they did was wipe some sludge off the floor, I ended up having to do all of the rest myself, had to throw everything away. And couldn't air it out properly because I was on the first floor right by the door, where my window got smashed in one time. My apartment was also broken into THROUGH THE DOOR, RIGHT BY THE SECURITY DESK, and the security guard did nothing. The one night security was actually even there. Took them a month during the rainy season to fix the window, they prioritized a door that got smashed AFTER my window had been smashed, even though it was boarded up whereas mine was not, and then told me it was too rainy and they'd have to come back another day. I had hundreds of dollars worth of packages stolen from the "locked" security room, where all other businesses attached had access and people could easily get in from outside without a fob. I lived here less than 6 months and multiple times walked into the package room to find every single package slashed open and empty, mine were missing altogether. They didn't care or try to make it right at all. Also the elevators are BOTH always broken. The roof access is limited and honestly one of the lamest rooftops I've visited in all of Portland apartments. The manager is an awful person, she is fake and rude and anytime I brought up an issue, she would weasel her way out of it and somehow make it my problem. People I didn't want near me were somehow always let into the building where they could easily bang on my door and leave me trapped in my apartment. Tweakers run up and down in the staircases and make it feel super unsafe. I had to break my lease early (only a couple months but it was worth the trouble) because this place was so atrocious and unnecessarily expe
I've been here for four months and they've lost at least 3 of my packages and always manage to blame it on someone else. They tell me they'll email me with updates, but they never do and it's always on me to go back to the office to follow up. And don't even bother emailing them because you won't get a response. The elevators, stairs, and entire floors will randomly smell horrible one day and it will last for weeks. They charge you for everything, so many hidden fees. The roof is nice, and the view is beautiful, but they frequently close it without notice. All I can say is that the room itself is mostly fine.
This building is a nightmare. My car has been broken into twice since parking it in their locked garage. The elevators stay broken for months at at time. The ceilings leak water into the hallways and apartments. I’ve had packages stolen from their “locked” package lockers on multiple occasions. The Vue will charge you $150 a month to park your car in their garage and a monthly fee to use their package lockers. After bringing these concerns to their attention and asking for resolution steps I was told by the building manager, Christine, that I and the other tenants are ungrateful for the work done by herself and fellow employees. Do yourself a favor and don’t rent here. Your ceiling will leak, your car will be damaged and broken into, your mail will be stolen, and you will be called the problem when you complain.
BUCKLE UP. You could not pay me a million dollars to live in this dump one second past when my lease is over. We and hundreds of others went 1.5 months with no hot water during Winter. The apartment was filthy and had previous renters items still here, and when we finally got it, and not only that, the leasing agent failed to do any of her required job duties to prepare the apartment for us including get it cleaned which meant she had us literally drive a moving truck with all our stuff packed only to be told WHEN WE GOT THERE that it wouldn’t be ready for another couple of days. No phone call, email, pure laziness. The fixtures and sockets are installed so poorly that the electrical is jacked. We’ve had a water leak since we moved in that is still and will forever remain unrepaired. All the neighbors who smoke do so in their unit so be prepared to be constantly smelling smoke. EVERYTHING is so poorly installed. The bathtub was painted with the wrong paint and resulted in a huge amount of paint sticking to our skin after a bath. Don’t even come near this place. It’s awful.
I did an initial reach out via email, someone named jaxon was being extremely rude to me when I had some questions regarding availability and move in dates. cant imagine how they will treat their residents if someone that hasn’t even moved in was treated so poorly, good luck leasing with that service
I began to have a BED BUG problem in 12/14. I later learned that BED BUG problems have been a longstanding issue in the Vue. They provided treatment, but it didn't work. I am certain the BED BUGS were coming from the walls. The person who provided "the treatment" was from Terminix, and they had an arrangement with him through a third party. The management noted that the Terminix guy often didn't return emails and such. They KNEW they had a BED BUG problem, and they let an unreliable person handle the problem for the entire building. When I mentioned the problem to a friend in the laundry room a few days before I left, another resident commented that there were BED BUGS on a floor other than my floor. BEG BUG HELL. Once you've had BED BUGS you'll never forget it. It is a horrible experience. The Vue people didn't charge me for several BED BUG treatments that didn't work (If they had tried to charge me, I would have fought them tooth and nail), and they acted like I should be grateful because they didn't charge me. BUT they charged me for disposing of items that I didn't want to take to the dump myself because of concern there would be bed bugs on the items that might infect the truck or other areas. I also didn't want to leave the items near the garbage and recycling area on my floor since somebody might have thought they were in good shape and brought them into his or her apartment, which could have infected the apartment. I thought the Vue folks would dispose of the stuff carefully, but when I went to my apartment to clean if after I moved out, the microwave, which was one of the items I paid for them to dispose of, was still there. I advised the Vue manangement, and they had one of their maintenance staff remove it. He called me and asked me what I wanted done with it, and I explained the situation; thus, they obviously hadn't carefully removed the items. The maintenance man knew nothing of the situation. Don't move to the Vue. There is a great view, and it is in a great location, but they have had a documented BEG BUG problem for years and have clearly not made an adequate effort to rid the place of the things. THEY DON'T CARE--THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY.
Not worth the money!! This place will keep your deposit no matter what and then some! Don’t live here!
This place is awful all the way around. Over-priced, dirty, and they treat homeless people better than residents. If you’re even considering living here please change your mind, they took two years from me that I can’t get back.
This building was built in 1950. If you want to live in there, PAY for those house upgrades. Don't get cheated by the apartment. They will offer big discounts when you move in and charge you for any type of home improvement when you move out. When I moved in last year the deposit was only $250, but they asked me to pay $1,460 for painting the walls, replacing old floors, and all those miscellaneous maintenance and repairs. Again, don't get cheated by their low price! You will pay much more than you can think of. Find some other decent place with same cost. You will definitely regret it if you don't follow my advice.
During my residency my room mate was cut on non fire glass when putting out a fire. Meanwhile the apartment complex did not return our inquiry for the adequate in fire code glass. Unprofessionally run apartment complex.
every day for months, the stairwell has been covered in puke. they say "we're taking care of it." and yet, i still have to go down there on a regular basis to remind them the stairwell is covered in puke. it's a safety hazard. it's a sanitation issue. it's grossly negligent. but they do seem to have the money to renovate the lobby over and over again....
I'm not sure where they found the people to give this place a 5 star rating, but don't believe it. If you have standards that are above "slum," this is not the place for you. All public spaces are dirty, except the laundry room, which is absolutely filthy and cockroach infested, and JRK Holdings doesn't care enough to try to make it better. I've tried to stick with but they clearly have no intention of making this place clean. Why they bothered to paint and remodel the public spaces and hallways is beyond me. Now, on top of it all, they plan on raising my rent. No thanks. For the same amount of money I can live in The Linc.
After reading mixed reviews of Vue on social media, I was a tad bit hesitant on paying for the application process, but decided on giving Vue a try, because I needed to find a centrally located, safe apartment. So, after checking out Vue and its surroundings, I found that it’s strategically located, along with being safe; via controlled access throughout the building, along with having a legit night guards-person. On a side-note, this is the type of security I like, because I have a younger sister that visits me alone, and wanted her to be safe, when I’m not around. I sent away my application, and was assigned to, Joa. Right away, Joa contacted me in a personable, professional manner; unlike many other property managers giving off the “vibe” as to you being just another “number.” After completing the application, and shortly after, setting-up, then completing my apartment showing; which by the way, the apartments are just fine, along with the modern amenities, and breath taking roof-top views... I signed-on that day. Why? Vue is cool. It’s filled with people from all walks of life, especially the attending, eclectic PSU students. Residents here say “Hi” and open/hold doors for you, along with making eye contact, and treating you like a regular person. So, if you’re shopping around for a place, then hit up Vue, because you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise. Regardless of your apartment decision, I wish you the very best of luck, and I truly hope, if you do decide to apply to Vue, that you’ll be fortunate enough to be assigned to a wonderful, and incredibly cool person... Joa.
Bed bugs, pungent cigarette odor 24-7, heaters are broken, laundry room always dirty, elevators so slow I've waited 10 minutes once & often only one is running, property manager is a tool, everything is overpriced. Get your money's worth. This place sucks. I can't wait til my lease is up!!!!
Have lived here since November and it's been horrific. Broken heaters, dirty water, slow elevators, overpriced everything & BED BUGS!!!! Do yourself a favor and do not move here.

I got a studio and I was so nervous because I was moving in the same time as actually seeing the apartment. If I had seen the apartment before I probably would have gone somewhere else for a cheaper price. My apartment had great space and lots of windows but the kitchen and bath lacked too much. The flooring just killed me.
I lived in the Vue apartments for 4 months. It was not the worst rental experience I've heard of, but it was the worst I have personally experienced. While the rooftop terrace is one of my favorite places, where you can see much of downtown, the fitness room (which doesn't have much equipment) and the TV lounge were closed for nearly the whole time I was there. They said construction would take less than one month, but they never finished it. The maintenance crew are cool guys, but our room had a lot of problems with it when we took it over, and almost nothing got fixed. We called for several maintenance services, often o fix the same thing that was broken last week. The place has bed bugs. My roommates and I were clean and brought pure furniture into the apartment, and we got an investigation. The exterminators said they are "there every week" and have scheduled times they visit the building because there are so many cases. Overall, a nightmare, but the rooftop has a nice view, and the location is great.
2012 Was one of the greatest years of my life! One of the things that made it so awesome was the location of this apartment. The staff here was amazing the fitness center was awesome and if you had a problem with your apartment maintenance would be up right away to fix it! Being down town next to everything and being able to walk to all the destinations you wanted to go to was the greatest. I didn't even live here my best friend did and i got to experience the greatness!
I moved into the Vue apartments a little over a month ago. The application process was quite ridiculous and strung out. I ended up applying 3 separate times for the same apartment in the span of 48 hours, paying $42 each time. The management staff is okay, not as friendly as they should be. Rent is very expensive, but the location is excellent, especially for students. One of the main reasons I chose the Vue is because they are dog friendly. That was/is essential. There is no carpeting in the apartments which is awesome because carpet is gross and nasty. It is also very quiet, very minimal noise is heard from neighbors. Speaking of neighbors, people who live in this building are generally very friendly! There's something about having a complete stranger tell you to have a good day as you leave the elevator that just makes your day. The neighborhood is very safe and no one can enter the building without a key fob. A major improvement that the Vue needs is the completion of their lobby renovations. The fitness rooms is unavailable due to renovations and I have yet to see anyone working on the project since I moved in. It is likely that it will not get finished. If you move in be prepared to go exercise elsewhere. I would recommend the Vue to others, but they should be aware of both the pros and the cons.
Even though the location is very smart, the quality of the apartments is not satisfying as the rent is extremely high. i think the biggest problem with the building are the leasing office. they incompetent in their jobs. they make a lot of mistakes, they once lost my check for the security deposit. if you are planning to stay for more than a year, i would not recommend this.
