Property Ratings at Wakonda Village and Manor Apartment Homes
Great place for first timers from Texas. Super friendly community and front office staff is awesome.
Wakonda is a very friendly and inviting community its more then an apartment its a community and it is very well kept .
The only thing to say is that I love it here and the managers make it even more better but my apartment is great.
Maintenance arrived within 15 min of my call. After hours! Thank you
I like the area close to stores. I have never had work orders not responded to in a timely manor. I have usually had any questions answered in a timely manor and answered fully.
I don't get out very often but when I do the people that live here are very nice and polite to me.
Good place to live. Office staff are nice and maintenance gets done pretty quick.
Things are done on time just not cleaned enough times through the months
great place .
Friendly, welcoming community with wonderful staff.
Good staff simple setup. Good beginning apartment and pet friendly
Was surprised how quick the response was to my need. Maint person was courteous and very helpful and quick.
I love the area but all do respect I think changes need to be addressed at the manor. There are people here that shouldn't be here living independently.
I think maintenance and office staff are great! So nice and helpful. Quick response to requests and polite manners.
I’ve lived here about a year and am moving out in a week. The bad outweighs the good. Our rent was messed up over half the time we’ve lived here, either being charged too much or too little. You can hear everything through the walls. We had neighbors with a warrant out for their arrest for drugs in our building for 6 months, the cops were there all the time and management never did anything about it. When my fridge was broke maintenance took over 4 hours to come fix it, so all our groceries were spoiled. Our stove came without a temperature knob so we couldn’t tell what to set it at. Not to mention the kitchen is completely outdated. The only good things I can say about this complex is that the location is convenient and they allow pets. Definitely do not recommend living here to anyone.
When we first looked at Wakonda some people had pre judged views on the complex however what we have discovered since living here for about 5 months is it’s a great place to live. I’ve read about people complaining about “hidden fees” well 100% fact that is not true, you know exactly how much is expected and like any other apartment complex if you don’t pay your bills on time then yes of course you will get extra fees, simple way to avoid fees... PAY THE RENT on time! The staff are amazing, the main club house has free coffee and snacks for residents whenever plus treats for your dog! They have a 24/7 Gym which is perfect when working, I have so far raised 2 minor “maintenance” requests and within 48 hours the problem was repaired. The staff arrange monthly events for residents such as Pool Party, Free Ice cream day and a Dog Pool Party are what I have experienced so far all free. Ultimately this is a great place to live, it’s great if you are working in Des Moines, it’s affordable so you can save and too top it all off my advice is go and have a viewing and meet the staff before making a decision because without doubt it’s the best decision we have made and will continue to enjoy our time living at Wakonda Apartments.
I would not allow my worst enemy to live here. Management is terrible as well as the community. You can hear everything and you can also smell everything. I have complained to management over a dozen times about my neighbors smoking cigarettes in the unit (which is not allowed) and nothing has been done. My apartment unfortunately smells like an ashtray due to this.
Horrible place to live I can hear my neighbors breathe and I don’t mean the next door I mean across the hall and downstairs neighbors. Constantly hitting me with hidden fees. There’s plenty of other nicer places for the same dollar amount if I was you I would keep looking and save yourself the hell that I know as wakonda village
Their rent is way to expensive for the quality of the apartment, you can hear every footstep the upstairs neighbor takes. They have no front locks so anyone can get into your building so you don’t feel safe at all. If something’s going on at the golf coarse they give you a tiny piece of paper to put on the dashboard and will tow you car if you forget to put it up. I had my car towed and couldn’t pick it up because i was at work and it was a weekend so I had to pay over $300. Why not be give everyone parking passes?? They have no cameras and people will steal things from your front door. The parking lot is falling apart. All they’re good for is taking your money, getting your car towed, and having your things stolen. MAKE URSELF A FAVOR AND DONT RENT HERE!!!
This is a great place especially with the price and location. Staff was very respectful and helpful. Location is awesome for my walks and runs. Noise wasn't a problem since I live in Chicago for most of my life, it's a cakewalk.
The walls so thin you can hear your neighbor's alarm go off every morning! I've had multiple items taken from outside my door and in my mailbox. The property manager is extremely rude and does not seem to know what she is doing! Towel bars fell off in the kitchen and in the bathroom and the trim starting falling off the walls within the first few weeks. There's a reason they're giving the first month's rent free, it's because there's no other way to get people to sign a lease with them! Do not rent here.
Although the walls are paper thin, and the apartment I was given was in much worse condition than the one I had toured, the most awful part of these apartments is by far the staff. They are quick to get into your personal business but no where to be found when you need assistance. I wish I had never signed a lease with these apartments, do not make the same mistake!
DO NOT RENT HERE - As a tenant, you will experience theft roughly on a quarterly basis (if not more frequently). I have had hundreds of dollars of goods stolen from my door step as well as my locked storage unit. The office staff is woefully unwilling to help remedy the repeated thefts, and you will be left footing the bill. Police reports are irrelevant to the staff and the only response you will receive is to report the burglary to your insurance. This is easily the worst place I have ever lived, chiefly due to the moronic approach to security, and value placed on renter's belongings.
I have had a nice time here overall. Very quiet place and very safe.
Fitness center, pool, dog park; apartment property is visually appealing. Depending on which model you're in determines quality of homes as they are currently renovating. Office laundry facility is nice and convenient, basement laundry facilities, 1/5 stars.
Built in the 1950's, everything is on a smaller scale and you can walk past the quaint, brickstone buildings along classic, streetlit avenues to the brand new gym or pool facilities. It's a fantastic mix of old and new in a secluded little oasis, despite the airport and downtown Des Moines being just minutes away.
