Situated between Interstate 16 and Highway 17, South Chatham Parkway is an industrial region featuring wooded areas, a few small ponds, and retail centers. Government buildings, CSX Savannah Yard, warehouses, and engineering companies make up most of the community. Chain eateries, service shops, and more are situated along Highway 17 while a few apartment complexes, located near the western edge of town, provide moderately priced rental options. Although South Chatham Parkway is largely commercial, historic Downtown Savannah is only five miles away providing entertainment, premier shopping, and renowned restaurants.

Property Ratings at Walden at Chatham Center
I've had several issues during my time living here, and unfortunately, they were handled poorly. First, there was a leak in the ceiling from the apartment above, and despite reporting it, the situation took far too long to be addressed. Secondly, the A/C unit in my apartment is over 20 years old and has never been updated. Because of this, my electric bills were consistently higher than normal, as the unit couldn't keep up efficiently. When I reached out for help, I was told to contact Georgia Power. After I did, the leasing manager denied ever telling me that and refused to assist further, clearly not wanting to resolve the problem. Overall, the lack of responsibility from manager (everyone else was great) and the outdated facilities make this complex not worth the cost or frustration. I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
this is one of the worst apartments i have found myself living in. there’s litter everywhere, payed $30 monthly for trash to be picked up for it to be left outside for days and not picked up, the pool is green and was closed by the health department, BLACK MOLD in almost every apartment, no maintenance workers at all because they’ve all quit, outdated appliances, extremely overpriced for what it is.
My bathroom has had mold in it for about 3 months now. The vent is falling out of the ceiling and the entire wall is covered in mold.
I strongly advise against considering Chatham at Walden Center as your next home. My experience here has been nothing short of a nightmare. First and foremost, the mold issue is pervasive and has been a constant battle. Despite repeated complaints, management has done little to address it, putting residents’ health at risk. The pool is another major concern—it’s grossly neglected and rarely cleaned, making it unusable for anyone who values cleanliness. The property also suffers from a serious infestation problem, with pests being a common sight in both the units and common areas. This is not only disgusting but also indicates a significant lack of maintenance. The staff here are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Any attempts to resolve issues are met with hostility or indifference, making the living experience even more stressful. To top it off, there have been bizarre rent hikes that seem entirely unjustified given the poor living conditions. Overall, I cannot recommend Chatham at Walden Center. The combination of health hazards, poor maintenance, and unprofessional management makes this place a terrible choice.
I wouldn’t recommend living here to my worst enemy. The day we moved in we found the unit to be completely different than sold/described — carpet instead of hardwood, disheveled countertops, broken appliances. No sign of professional cleaning given that there was still a drink in the freezer. Air conditioning was weak at best. The staff are frequently rude and completely unhelpful. The few who are kind and helpful lack the support and leadership they need to be functional. The property is not cared for at all by the leasing company or by the tenants. Trash is everywhere, plants are all dead, buildings and amenities are always in disrepair, etc. It took 82 days to get our security deposit back as well. After living there for 14 months I cannot think of a single good thing to say about this apartment complex or the company that owns it.
We’ve had had an active leak and mold growing on the ceiling for over a year. Instead of fixing it, they increased our rent by an enormous amount. So23 told them we’re moving out at the end of the lease and asked what needed to be done. Our lease has a stipulation that you can’t move out - even when the lease is up - without 60 days notice. When we asked the office staff about it we were told REPEATEDLY that we did not need to worry about it because they knew we are leaving. Now they are backtracking (called us liars) and want to charge us over $3,000 - on top of whatever “move out fees they assess.”. We have two months to pay them before they report us to the credit bureau. We may have to pay to keep our credit but we want everyone to know they should find somewhere else to live.
The complex looks nice, but once living there I started seeing what was really going on. 1) Maintenance is inconsistent. They are quick to respond but whether something actually gets fixed is another issue. My dishwasher was grinding and I was told how inconvenient it was to fix instead of it getting fixed. A new coat of paint is a common coverup for water damage or mold on walls and ceilings. 2) A water leak flooded my garage and I was never notified. When I brought it to the maintenance guy’s attention, he knew about it but made no effort to let me so I could assess the damage to my belongings. 3) When I let them know that I was moving out of state for a job change, I was told that I would be charged 60 days rent plus fees. Despite my asking for specific details for how to move out the correct way, I wasn’t told that I would be assessed 60 days of rent for not being able to give a 60 day move out notice. I ended up with a bill for 4 MONTHS OF RENT. 4) I asked for a payment plan to help pay off the almost $7000 final bill, which they wanted paid within 10 days of sending the final bill, and instead of returning my call or working with me, my account was immediately sent to collections. 5) Getting a response to phone calls or emails commonly takes forever. 6) The description says “luxury” but I’ve lived in nicer apartments elsewhere.
I used the disposal last night for the first time, and my sink backed up on both sides with filthy water. I called it in first thing in the AM and told them they could reach me at anytime to be home for the repair as I have a dog. I was told this is not considered an emergency and the maintenance people will get to it in the order it was received. Not having a kitchen sink needs to be address immediately. I have lived her a month and there are many issues in the apartment that I noted when I moved in that have not been addressed. The garbage is always a mess, the grounds needs to be kept up better. The dog park is a disgrace with no dogs bags in the designated areas. If your looking for a place to live, keep looking.
I'm very excited about my move to the Walden . And the staff was very curtius and helpful. Devin, Katie, and most definitely Dallas , she was wonderful in helping get the complete package of my new home togeather. Life is good.
Walden at Chatham Center is absolutely wonderful. The staff members at the apartment are ALWAYS working hard and on the move. I love how they respond quickly to any and every problem you have and they are extremely generous. The fact that I get to watch this community grow at a fast pace is a delight!
