Property Ratings at Walnut Ridge Townhomes
We've been here 5+ months and we have nothing negative to report. When we first moved in, there was an issue with the furnace and management had it repaired. The neighbors are very friendly and the grounds of the property are well kept. The location is conveniently located to the turnpike and there is plenty of retail an dining in the area. I would definitely recommend Walnut Ridge Townhomes to friends and family!
They only show you the model townhouse, which of course is made to look nice. The younger lady at the desk was incredibly rude to deal with and acted like we were just a waste of time to her. She offered little to no information and kept insinuating that we couldn’t afford any of the apartments.
Tried to ask questions and was rushed through the viewing. The women were more concerned about getting off of work, then helping me by doing their job, even though I had an appointment set up, and was the only one there. She rushed through handing me the paperwork and would give me vague or run around answers. They had no details about any question I asked regarding the apartments and barely wanted to speak. The south office was very inconsiderate and I wouldn't feel comfortable living there if that's how everything is handled.
This place would be a great place to live if it wasn't for management. There are 2 people in the office - younger girl who is very nice and the older woman Shirley the manager who is not pleasant at all. She has an attitude when there is an issue with the townhome. She can be heard sighing in the background when an issue is being explained to the younger girl. I think she misses the concept of renting as opposed to owning your own home. You need to report any issues to management when you rent. That way they can ensure things are fixed properly and not left up to the renter who could possibly cause further damage. It makes it very hard to report any issue when you know it will be addressed with an attitude. It's frustrating enough when something breaks, but to know that the report will not be received well by management is beyond unacceptable. I see that there are other bad reviews about management specifically naming Shirley. If Walnut Ridge invested in someone who understands customer service (like the younger girl), I think the reviews would improve and it would be viewed as a very nice place to rent.
They are Not nice people AT ALL! they act like your bothering them when you call with a problem. Say they r going to fix something and they don't! Put plugs in upside down and say it's "code" ?? Fridge constantly blows because it's hooked up to a GFI in kitchen. I WOULD NEVER SIGN ANOTHER LEASE WITH THESE PEOPLE AGAIN!!!
I lived here for two years. When I stopped to look at these townhouse, they would not show me an actual unit that was available. They would only show me the "model townhouse". This should have been a red flag, but I was in a hurry to find a place, so I went against my gut feeling and signed a lease. The townhouse I actually got, was a disgusting mess. I assumed it would have at least been cleaned in between tenants moving in, but that was not the case. The kitchen was covered in grease. The back of the drawers had probably years of disgusting nastiness in them. It took me DAYS to clean the kitchen. The grease did not even stop in the kitchen. It was also on the handrail going up to the second floor. The last tenant must have had a cat, as evidenced by the scratches all over the woodwork going up to the stairs to the second floor. The carpet may have been cleaned, but there was pieces of carpet left EVERYWHERE. It was like whatever they cleaned it with pulled pieces of carpet right up and they just left it there. When I moved in, I filled out their list of issues that I found, along with the request to fix them. I noted the burn marks and scratches all over the counters, the light fixture in the dining room, hanging by a wire, the paint in the small bedroom being a different color (which was an awful color that made the whole room appear dark), stains all over the master bedroom door, the small area in the floor which was warped and like a small hill......) no one ever came to fix ANY of this. I cleaned the entire place - it was in EXCELLENT shape when i left and 100 times better than when i moved in, and they took charges out of my security deposit!! The parking lot had basically a ditch in it where I scratched my car because there are no indicators to show where the ditch is in the dark. Oh, and the mailboxes, which depending where you live are located on a slope are ALWAYS so icey in the winter that you cannot even get to your mail. I would NEVER recommend anyone moving here. They should be ashamed of themselves. You can find a lot better for the price. It's sad that this company takes advantage of people.
If you are looking for a high end or updated apartment stop. Do not waste your time. Walnut Ridge Townhomes are the utmost definition of an income proeprty. The complex is run by a corporation with the main goal of producing income. This is by no means an insult or put down on the apartments. You get a tremendous amount of space for the price you pay. Notihing is updated, for the price you pay it should not be. Everything has the appearance of being from the 70's or 80's. Repairs are difficult to get done, as is the same case for all large apt complexes. Yes you need to nag the office to get anything done. Deal with it. The grounds can get pretty trashy, but that is on the tenants, not the landlord. The interior walls provide no sound barrier so be prepared to hear everything from your neighbor. Despite all of this for the price, location and space I would most certainly recommend this complex. It's an income producing apartment if you expect something high end go look somewhere else.
The office staff has horrible customer service. Call for something that needs fixed and your lucky to get it done in 3 months. They are rude and the grounds look like they are ran by slum lords. The easiest way to fix something is the cheapest way for them. Foundations leak as well as the dampness you'll have. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
It was a decent size but the appliances were too old for us. There is no counter space in the kitchen to do anything on.
My boyfriend and I recently visited the model home at Walnut Ridge. We were surprised by the spacious layout especially on the second floor and the amenities for the price per month. We are excited to start the process of moving in within the next 5 months!
Property Manager at Walnut Ridge Townhomes, Responded To This Review
I wouldn't live here if it was free rent. The townhomes have not been updated (they were built 1970's) mice, kitchen ceiling leaks for now over 2 years I call them back in May the maintenance men (if that is what you call them) hasn't made any improvements to the complex. Their way is the cheapiest possible. My furance makes a loud BOOM when it turns off or on, The windows you can't see out of them due to the sills (there is moisture inside the windows) The carpeting never been replace (it smells, has stains, burnt candle wax into the carpeting) The door fixtures & the door frames are falling off. In the corner of the ceiling of the townhome has holes never repair when I move in to the lace The driveway was repair not until my next door neighbor 80 + years old fall flat on her face, When she call to report the accident there weren't any apologies NO IM SORRY, NO CONCERN WHAT SO EVER. from Shirley or any other staff member. SO my recommendation NEVER EVER SIGN A LEASE FOR WALNUT RIDGE!!!!
