Property Ratings at Washington Square
I have lived here for the past year and love what is going on here. New owners actually care about us and cleaning/repairing things to make it nicer. I am looking forward to staying here a lot longer now and my kids love it. There is a lot of area for kids to play and get their energy out, lol. Highly recommended especially for the money.
I know there's New owners of this complex and they are making this place really nice to live now, they are actually investing money into this complex, so this is a good thing! The units go fast when they do become available, there was a small waiting list. So far the neighbors are nice here, lots of kids for my kids to play with, lots of VERY well lit lights around the complex (makes my family feel safe), parking is pretty easy and ample, the manager Anna is super nice, the maintenance guys are fast on getting stuff done as fast as they can, they are roomy apartments, the price is decent too. It's hard to find apartments here in Longview, WA.. because they are all mostly houses.
Its not all bad here. Ive had worse. And when i have problems the new landlord tries to get it taken care of within a reasonable amount of time. I have ants but only during winter and only when food or garbage is left out. No roaches at my apartment. But some mold in my bathroom. But manageable. I can contain these problems. And when i have questions or concerns, the landlord looks into it right away.
Have been living here for a year. Thought it was great for the cheap price. Upon moving in, our kitchen floor has a chemical stain on it, the carpet has a huge rip (but they "dont" replace until every 3 tennants), and found multiple wires/hooks/needles embedded into the carpet, and food stuck in the heaters. It is obvious that it was NOT cleaned. Yet the manager swears by it. Roommate stepped on a rusty hook that thankfully didn't break skin, the first day there. Our back fence was supposed to be fixed within that same summer. It's been a year, and nothing has changed. We had moisture come up through our carpet, making it moldy, and could easily smell urine. They blamed it on us. We had ants crawling through the cracks underneath our carpet. And now we have a huge mold problem that wont go away. You're better off finding a better place to live. But i think the old manager left, so hopefully the new one does their job.
I just got this apartment last week (8-19-2015) and the day after while I was moving in at a later hour I discovered a cock roach! I have since drug out all the kitchen appliances from the walls and discovered an abundance of them. They will not break my lease and they think that the problem is only in a few of the apartments. In reality they are in THE WHOLE BUILDING. They travel through the walls and into every room. I would highly recommend looking at a different place to rent!
The initial process is quite simple and quick. I turned in my application and it was approved by the morning of the second day. The apartment is pretty basic though it does offer a dish washer. It has a lower wall heater in every room. We don't use them because one of them melted a laundry basket that had been next to it. There is no garbage disposal. We have a patio because we are on the lower level and we put chain link up to fence it off. They allow pets and we have a pretty big lab. The laundry room is ok. There's usually atleast one washer always out. It's a relatively quiet complex but there are quite a bit of children so it's good if you have kids. The park is a covered park so when the weather gets questionable you can still let them play. It's within a 10 minute walk to lake Sacajawea and close to stores willow grove and the bridge to Rainer. They also offer storage if needed. For the price it's a good starter apartment.
