Property Ratings at Waterloo Place Apartments
I have lived in Waterloo apartments for several years now. I really like the location and the apartments are spacious. However, there are major problems with the quality of at least my unit. I have had a leak in my apartment for more than a year at this point without it being fixed. This leak is so bad that the ceiling is collapsing in a part of the unit. My apartment reeks of mold as a result. The leasing office says that something is being fixed and then it never actually is. When I first moved in I thought the leasing office was great and that they would always try their best to fix any problems, but unfortunately this is no longer true.
Management is unresponsive and unwilling to help. I’ve lived through two winters here now, enduring 75 degree temps upstairs and 50 degrees downstairs in my townhome. I keep the thermostat set at 60. Maintenance has come and said the heat works perfectly and there is nothing they can do. Do not live here if you want to be comfortable in your own home without wearing a parka to watch tv.
I lived in this complex for 2 years and cannot count the number of times I have seen cars broken into inside of the "secure" parking garage. This happened to my girlfriends car the first summer I was there and I attempted numerous times to get management to review footage and I was given the runaround for 2 weeks before I finally gave up. The only camera they have is at the entrance, so its not like we would have been able to see anything, but some responsiveness from management would have been nice. Throughout the remainder of my time there every 2-3 weeks, without fail, I would see another car with its window busted in and management failed to make any changes to address these issues. Additionally, there is a door that is by the main garage entrance that does not securely close all the way. Reported it and nothing was ever done. The nice thing is that when I was moving out, I locked myself out of the complex, but I could just go to this door to get in! They also have major issues with their fire alarm and it will go off randomly in the middle of the night, this happened every other week or so. Would seriously reconsider moving here if I were you!
I recently moved to Baltimore from Florida, and when I began my search for where I’d be living my friend recommended Mt. Vernon. I chose Waterloo as my home as I was impressed with the advertised amenities, plethora of floor plans and the location. I was unable to do a physical walk through prior to moving but the co-property manager at the time, was beyond helpful. She took pictures of the units that were available and assisted me with ensuring I’d have the space/layout I was looking for. Her level of courtesy and professionalism sold her property in ways the actual apartment didn’t. The property is gated access and they have a variety of floor plans. Each unit has W/D (a definite plus!!), the location is a $6 Uber/Lyft away from most city restaurants/attractions so you save on parking and gas. They have underground parking at a very reasonable rate as well as valet trash. Their maintenance staff are quick to respond to requests and friendly if you happen to be there while they’re working. I have been so far pleased with my experience and my pup loves it here too! Some things that could change my 4 to a 5 star; (I) Consistency with friendliness and professionalism of the office staff. The ladies are usually very professional and courteous. The current co-manager can be a tad abrasive/rude at times but overall I think he means well. (II) Package delivery/parcel system; couriers leave all packages (including amazon) with the office staff, as such - if you happen to miss office hrs, you have to wait/arrange to pick up while the office is open. (III) Updated appliances, elevators and a more modern access system with the parking garage. I would definitely give this place a shot for your future home. I did, and I have not regretted it!
I've been a resident for over 2 years now and I'm very pleased with the professionalism of the staff as well as the service. It's a safe and clean environment here.
I have lived in this community for the past year and I haven’t had any issues. Maintenance responds to my work orders in a timely manner and the office staff is very friendly and professional. I recommend this community because it’s across from Peabody Conservatory and close to public transportation.
Living here had been absolutely a nightmare because of all the unexpected charges. Waterloo simply treat their tenants like cash cows. The 3 people management group provides no help regards to unfair charges or resolving issues. They don't care about tenants' right at all. Management team is horrible. Kelly always has an attitude and Susan is very unresponsive. Anyways, I can't wait to move out and end my nightmare here. I don't recommend this apartment at all especially if you don't have extra cash to throw around.
The Waterloo Place has had and continues to have extremely poor management. This is the reason my roommates and I left this complex. They charge and advertise as a luxury apartment complex but everything is cheap and kept up poorly. There are overwhelming problems with the building structure and appliances that are constantly breaking down and fixed after days or weeks. It was evident that nothing was going to change for the better so we decided to move out. Every year our rent increased while our safety and quality of life decreased. The priorities of management are out of order and that is the main reason for all the issues. Property within the complex were stolen or broken into, elevators and gated doors broke often, and new rules and fees were being implemented all the time. It's disappointing because the complex has lots of potential.
Moved into Waterloo Place last month into a two bedroom two bathroom apartment. The complex has nice features such as 24 access gym, pool, and a front desk service. Attached to the complex is a small cafe which is great if you want to grab a quick bite. Right next to Merritt gym, which is one of the better gyms in Baltimore. Maintenance can be a bit slow at times and the walls are a little thin. All in all, a good and safe apartment in Baltimore.
I recently came out of a rather interesting experience renting a Baltimore row home. For two years I thought this was Baltimore: leaking and caved in ceilings, clogged pipes, nasty flooring, yadda yadda. After finishing undergrad, two pals and I decided "never again". We promptly moved to The Waterloo Place on 690 North Calvert St. In a location I would arguably declare as much nicer then Barclay, we rented a 3 unit apartment for only 50$ more per month then what I had previously paid. Too good to be true? Nope. The property managers are available 9-6 M-S and are extremely professional, kind, and willing to help when they can. The unit itself is spacious and lined with nice fluffy carpet. After we had finished moving in we broke in the new place by laying on and appreciating the nice carpet. The Waterloo complex contains a pool and a gym free for all residents, along with a number of events hosted by management such as pool parties and wine tastings. Situated a block away from the Mt. Vernon Washington memorial, you are free to catch a number of buses to take you to a number of locations. Waterloo Place apartments is affordable, has great management, and has prime location. Would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a place to live in the area.
The office staff is new and refreshing. The property at first glance can be confusing but its really a cool place to live. It would be nice if there was a community room. However, I enjoy the place.
