Also called the Warehouse District, Rivertown is a trendy urban locale and is one of the city’s fastest-growing neighborhoods. Once filled with warehouses and factories a decade ago, Rivertown now offers upscale converted lofts and condos, but there are more affordable rental options available as well. Located in Downtown Detroit and nestled along the Detroit River, Rivertown boasts an amazing location and abundant amenities. Along with housing excellent restaurants, retailers, and nightlife spots, Rivertown has several waterfront green spaces for residents to enjoy. You’ll find locals strolling along the scenic Detroit Riverwalk at the William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor, catching a show at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre, or cooling off at the Mount Elliott Park splash pad during the summer. The neighborhood is also convenient to Belle Isle Park, a 982-acre green space with an aquarium, beach, and so much more.

Property Ratings at Waters Edge at Harbortown
Many of the 5 star reviews are from people who obviously do not live at Waters Edge-- they were left before complex was actually leasing apartments. I have lived here for several months and am disappointed in multiple areas: -Design and finishes: The finishes (Carpentry, appliances, light fixtures, paint, etc.) are on the cheaper end and the execution is poor. The choices made during construction keep Waters Edge from being a true "luxury" apartment. From the vinyl floors, cheap washer/dryer, unfinished carpentry and more, Waters Edge is average. -Management: While new constructions are notorious for having "kinks", I have had an issue with almost every appliance in the residence. What makes matters worse is the delay in having these issues addressed or corrected. The people working in the front office are very nice, but overall the office lacks structure and organization. Many of my complaints are met with a shoulder shrug... -Amenities: Any "luxury" complex should come with basic amenities-- a pool, gym, covered parking and community room at least. I was assured that all of these features were under construction and would be available within months . Now that I am a resident and my balcony overlooks the proposed site for the pool/gym, I can see that NO PROGRESS has been made in the past 2 months-- not luxury Waters Edge is billed as "urban luxury riverfront residences", but the truth is that it leaves a lot to be desired...
I was looking to move into this community from out of state (the northeast specifically). The staff was 45 minutes late to our leasing appointment and acted as if it were no big deal. The finishes are not as high end as portrayed. The apartments are supposed to be brand-new and yet the cabinets in the kitchen were already chipping in one of units we saw. The doors are definitely thick because we couldn't hear the loud music that was playing from a unit across the hall 11 am in the morning. While waiting for the leasing staff to arrive we ran into a resident who had lived in the community for 6 months and had some unfortunate reviews for Waters edge. His anecdotes coupled with the tardiness of the staff was disappointing. When I saw Water's edge online, it was the number one place where I wanted to live and I flew to Detroit specifically to see the units and begin the leasing process. I am so glad I saw the community in person and didn't reserve a unit beforehand. It should not be branded as a luxury community because it is far from it. As a former real estate agent having worked with many landlords and leasing offices across the spectrum of caliber, this was beyond unimpressive.
Where in the world can you go to experience such views? From the changing views of the Detroit Skyline to Belle Isle with the changing seasons. Let's not forget our neighbor to the south, Canada. Whether you want to watch the waves, the barges or the seagulls making the daily runs, you can see it all on the Waters Edge Detroit! I would like to "thank" the management team for bringing this wonderful community to my backyard. I am looking forward to selling my home and becoming an active member of this community.
It's a golden dream to live off the water, with a window view, watching fire works, boat races, looking at the waves at night dancing in the moon light, counting the stars while you make a wish at night
This is a dream come true for people that loves the water the building is well kept, you can look out at the water and watch the waves dance , we call it the river walk where people from different back ground's that ride their bikes or jog ,the view is so beautiful better than you ever dream, of near down town shops
