Situated in western New York on the cusp of Lake Ontario, Rochester holds the title of the state’s third most populous city. Touting a distinct blend of history and innovation, Rochester is filled with historic buildings turned modern lofts and apartments. The University of Rochester as well as Rochester Institute of Technology both contain leading research programs, lending to the city’s educated workforce and prospering future. Prominent figures like Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass once called Rochester home.
Even though it’s a fairly large city, Rochester still holds a small-town vibe. Rochester offers several community events that are widely attended, including the Lilac Festival and the Rochester International Jazz Festival.
The Strong Museum, Memorial Art Gallery, and the George Eastman Museum all feature special exhibits that inspire curiosity. Scenic views await at Highland Park, and residents adore their day trips to the Seneca Park Zoo and Seabreeze Amusement Park.

Property Ratings at Wedgewood West
Overall, the space is nice. A porch, a kitchen, dining room, living room, and 2 bedroom space. A decent amount of closet space. A storage unit in basement. 2 washer and dryers on the ground level per 6 units. Maintenance and office staff are helpful and available. Old building, often smells like cigarette smoke. Musty indoors, can’t seem to get rid of it despite all efforts. Carpets hold old odors. Only 1 AC.
I’ve lived here for 2 years. The renovated apartments are nice, but they cut every corner by using the lazy maintenance guy. The 1st level apartments flood frequently... 28 sump pumps failed and all bottom apartments got 3 inches of water in them at midnight. Everyone lost belongings and weren’t compensated & had to move out. The maintenance guy Bill is garbage. He NEVER comes when you call. And IF he does, he rolls his eyes at you, shows up unprepared, and will barely if at all fix anything. It took 2 years for him to change a bulb. They are NOT smoke free, so my neighbors Pot pours into my place and everything I own smells of it. There is not enough parking, you have to drop $20/month for a carport, and any friends are out of luck if they visit. The windows & doors are 60 years old & leak freezing air in the winter, and allow all bugs to come in 24/7. Rent at your own risk.
Property Manager at Wedgewood West, Responded To This Review
Hello. I'm sorry you've had this experience at Wedgewood West. Over the course of the last year, the drainage system has been repaired, and the sump pumps have been replaced with ones that have battery backups so they work even in the event of a power outage and preventing flooding. All exterior windows and sliding glass doors are in the process of being completely replaced. Additionally, we have undergone recent staffing changes with our maintenance team, and now that the moratorium on evictions is ending, we are able to crack down on things like odor violations. We do offer overflow parking at the back of the property, and have also recently undergone a full CCTV installation in our carports while maintaining the low price of $20.00 for overhead parking.
I've been a tenant at Wedgewood West since September. When I moved in my apartment was spotlessly clean, had brand new carpet, new bathroom flooring, a new vanity and mirror and all of my doors appear brand new. I'm sure this is not standard in all of their apartments though. The property manager is extremely friendly, approachable, and professional. I haven't had any maintenance issues in my apartment since I moved in so I do not personally know how fast maintenance gets to fixing things in apartments, but I can say that the property itself is very well maintained and the hallways and laundry rooms are cleaned often. I will say that a downside is that if you have friends over parking can be a pain. Where my apartment is located there isn't enough parking for tenants and guests so my friends always have to park far from my apartment when they come over. It's not the biggest deal in the world though. I'm almost positive that I will renew my lease when it expires for at least another year.
