Property Ratings at Wellington
Large apartments for the price and not a bad location. Overall management was pretty bad. Maintenance wouldn’t fix an issue that I had with my window until I complained about it repeatedly for months. The package room is a disaster. Almost every package I had delivered went missing. I stopped having packages delivered to my apartment after 6 months. The staff were nice, but there were still rampant issues. The noise was also really bad, including people screaming at each other late at night, kids running up and down the halls and very loud music. The cops were at the building all the time. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend living here despite the good size of the apartments and price.

I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts and experiences living in your apartment complex. In short, I am extremely pleased with my time here and would like to express my utmost satisfaction. First and foremost, the management team at Wellington has been exceptional. Their professionalism, promptness, and willingness to go above and beyond have truly made my stay enjoyable. Whether it's addressing maintenance requests or providing useful information, they have consistently demonstrated their commitment to resident satisfaction. Speaking of maintenance, I must commend the maintenance staff for their outstanding work. They are always quick to respond and resolve any issues that arise. It's comforting to know that there is a reliable team in place to ensure the functionality and comfort of the apartments. The amenities offered at Wellington are truly impressive. The well-maintained swimming pool, fitness center, and community lounge are fantastic additions that make living here even more enjoyable. It's evident that the management team has put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming and vibrant community for residents. One aspect that deserves special mention is the location of the apartment complex. Wellington is situated in a prime area, close to various shopping centers, restaurants, and entertainment options. The convenience of having everything within reach has been a significant advantage for me. Furthermore, the sense of community at Wellington is remarkable. The friendly and diverse neighbors have made it easy for me to settle in and feel at home. It's wonderful to be part of such a warm and welcoming environment. I cannot recommend Wellington enough. The management team's dedication, the excellent maintenance service, the exceptional amenities, and the vibrant community all contribute to making this apartment complex a truly fantastic place to live. Thank you for providing such a wonderful living experience. -London

Hi, We can't thank you enough for taking time to share your kind words - it means the world to us. I am going to share your feedback with the team so we can keep that gratitude going around.
Very spacious apartments. Wonderful, professional, front end staff and maintenance staff. They really do you go above and beyond. I have wonderful neighbors on my floor. We all look out for each other that’s a plus. The few things that I definitely feel like I need to improve are people leaving trash on the floor inside of the trash room instead of putting it down the trash chute. That’s going to bring rodents and I just feel like that definitely needs to be addressed and stopped. Also, people not picking up after the dogs. It’s absolutely disgusting and people should be fined if they’re caught doing it . And my last biggest complaint is when dealing with a noisy neighbor and you bring it to someone’s attention numerous times, and nothing gets resolved to alleviate the situation.
Just renewed my lease again! Just loooove my place so much! Location is awesome, staff and neighbors are nice! Highly recommend my apartment!
It was a great experience. The staff ,community are so good . The maintenance is great .the staff is helpful they always find a solution to problem. They have sometimes activities and all
The staff is great and they do what they can to help when asked. Same with maintenance. The noise from other tenants is terrible though. Especially the loud, booming music or the kids that periodically run up and down the hall screaming.
I’ve been in Wellington 15 years love it. It’s big rooms, clean and close to everything. Good community room, nice clean fitness, yoga room, swimming pool. Big shuttle bus week days.

Overall okay, a lot of dog poop around the property. Package system needs to be improved, lots of cockroaches, and the in unit washer/dryers are very small.

Today when I woke up I had symptoms of a sinus infection and I knew immediately that on one of the lower floors there was a leak and the maintenance team had set up a fan to blow on the wet carpet. This happens pretty regularly - I wake up with a sinus infection and I know that there has been a leak in the building. This place has a gnarly mold infestation. I'm not able to use the laundry in the building for the same reason. What's worse is that when I tried to break my lease (i even provided a Dr's note to make it easier for management), I was met with what can only be described as clown litigation. They even sent a maintenance guy to take pictures of my apartment to supposedly identify an alternative allergen problem (i never even heard back from that - it was a complete farce). Nevermind the poor management - if you're allergic to mold at all, you absolutely can not move into this place. I can only imagine how many of my neighbors think they're sick all the time when in reality it's this moldy building. I would also advise to read other reviews about packages. The Wellington will charge you each month for a package locker, but they have facilitated a process where delivery people leave packages in messy insecure room (if you're lucky) in a building where most of the people don't even live. To put it simply, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR PACKAGES if you move in here.
Property Manager at Wellington, Responded To This Review
Hi thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We are disappointed to see your low star rating and would like to talk with you more about your experience with our community and team. In regard to mold, we have a third party service that will come into your unit and test for mold if you believe that is the case. If you brought this to our attention, I can assure you we have tested your apartment and no mold was found. If you would still like us to look into what you believe is mold, please contact the office so we can properly address this situation. We charge for lockers here because when the delivery company delivers your packages, they should first put them in a locker. They are fully aware of the process and it is unfortunate that they don't always deliver them properly. If you have further concerns please let us know. Thank you! The Wellington Team
Good location. And pet friendly. Commuter bus is available for metro. Parking is extremely difficult and fills up fast. Also a frequent overflow of mail
Property Manager at Wellington, Responded To This Review
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We have been working hard with parking and we would be open to any suggestions you may have.
Overall the staff is friendly. I am however disappointed in the timeliness of WO responses and routine pest control. Especially given that the building is older. I’ve also had to speak with more than one staff member about the same inquiries because of lack of clarity on a subject. The leasing office phones ring off the hook too. I don’t always get an answer. Even at different times of the day.

Carolyn, we regret that you weren't satisfied with your experience. We hope you will give us another chance.
There are too many cigarette butts around on the ground. That’s my only criticism. Everything else is great, but that makes the robotic look nasty.
Property Manager at Wellington, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for letting us know about the cigarette butts on the ground. We will have the cleaners focus more on looking for them and getting them picked up.
I really liked living in the Wellington because of the good services it provides to the residents, the speed of response if there are any inquiries, and the area is very safe and free from problems

My building El Willington, has is a quiet and warm place to live, its first face is the administration employees who manage our needs with respect and kindness. The people who live here are cordial and calm, we respect our neighbors and take care of the spaces. I have been living here for a short time, but I can say with certainty that it is Excellent. The overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke overtook me upon entering my apartment for the first time. Management assured me they would have it taken care of but it’s been 2 weeks and there’s been no word. The washer/dryer in my unit doesn’t work either. The Wellington is not designer apartments, it’s an aging budget living space charging exorbitant prices for their run down rooms.

Please read. Do not live in this apartment complex. I have had nothing but problems. There is not enough parking spaces for all the tenants; my car was towed twice, at my own expense (and I paid for parking). There was mold in my apartment. I had a dust mite infestation. You'd think thats not a big problem until they are falling on your bed from the ceiling, and walking on your clean dishes. The office didn't care, and neither did the management company when I went to the regional manager. I tried to move apartments and they were in another building I looked at in that complex. When I reached out, the property manager said I cannot keep moving apartments when I see roaches... I was mistaken for someone else. Go to the next listing.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! This place doesn’t deserve one star to begin with. I felt strong enough about this to come on here and comment on this repulsive place! I just moved in right before the new year and I will be leaving ASAP! I had William help me and he completely fabricated everything he was “selling” to me. Gave me a totally different outlook on things here. First, this place is NOT A SMOKE FREE property. Residents smoke in there apartments, including cigarettes and marijuana, in the stairwells and hallways. There’s trash everywhere. Beer bottles, dirty diapers, fast food trash left in stairwell, elevator and hallways. The area they have for your packages to go to is the most ridiculous system I’ve seen. They just dump your stuff there and do not get notified it’s been received. I’ve lost packages, called the leasing office, spoke with Tara to figure it out and I’m told to “call the courier service to see if it was delivered”, after I got notification from fedex that it was delivered 4 days ago. I just needed help figuring out where it was in the building. It was a disaster. I get my things delivered to work instead now. Unbelievable. Another thing, the walls are VERY VERY thin. You can hear your next door neighbors from up top, downstairs, from way down the hall way. I’ve seen cockroaches, spiders and rats in my apartment and in the hallways. When I’ve called to speak to a manager, I’m told I’ll get a call back, which never happens. Not sure if they even have one. I’ve talked to other residents and they all say the same. They’ll be leaving. Doesn’t seem like they keep residents very long. I was definitely, like many others, scammed into living in the most disturbing place I’ve ever lived at. They have affordable units in this property, which makes sense on why there’s so many people that live here and could care less about the property and trash it. While others here pay a extraordinary amount for this ridiculous place. I hear fights, screaming and arguments going on throughout the night. Do yourself big favor and look somewhere else. There’s plenty of place around this area that are much less and nicer properties. STAY AWAY!! You will regret ever second living here. I guarantee it.

Hi Anonymous- I am so sorry to hear you have not had an exceptional living experience at The Wellington. I am Lindsey Ogden, the General Manager of The Wellington. The Wellington is considered a smoke free building and we uphold that policy. If at any time you notice any lease violations we ask you call the leasing office. I do understand that the property at times can have trash in the hallways, however we have cleaners for each building that are here daily to help with the need of the property. I would love the opportunity to speak with you in person to further discuss your concerns. Hope to see you soon! Lindsey Ogden
I wish I could rate this place even lower. Please think long and hard before signing a lease here. Be prepared to deal with management/leasing that is difficult to reach, disgusting laundry rooms with roaches, hallways with roaches, communal washers and dryers that do not work, rats surrounding the property, lost and disorganized packages in the lobby, ZERO guest parking spots, people stealing from the garage, and so, so much more. The building will also claim that they are a smoke-free property but this rule is not enforced. I can't even have my window open because SO many smokers stand directly outside my window. The absolute WORST aspect of this apartment, is the noise. You will hear absolutely everything your neighbors do (as well as smell whatever they're cooking). You will be able to hear everything from the apartments next to you, across from you, and above you (even in the bathroom). During quarantine, the lack of soundproofing became even more of a problem which they addressed by saying "it's an older building so you will hear your neighbors". Worst of all, there is construction/random drilling all the time & early in the morning, making it very hard to work from home during Covid. They absolutely mislead people about the length and duration of construction before moving in. This building is old, noisy, and disgusting. This will become more apparent to you the longer you live here. Please, live literally anywhere else.

Do not move here, the management staff will treat you like a number instead of a person. If you live here you will live under poor maintenance conditions, this is not the maintenance crew's fault, it is Bozzuto. You will pay fees for package concierge when there is no system to make sure your packages are safe, so if a package is lost, they are not responsible. You will have to pay for parking when there are rarely parking spots available, and there has been construction so be careful, I have had to replace 3 tires over the last year. I lived here for 6 years and loved this place when the management treated us like humans. Not worth the hassle and cost, there are other affordable apartments in the area.

I have lived at The Wellington for over two years. The management team and leasing staff has changed a ton. The current team has been there for about a year, and they are no different. The property manager and staff act like residents are inconveniencing them at all times. They are rude, take things personally and become defensive in a simple conversation. Residents are never provided with a straight forward answer and are consistently lied to about things happening around the units. We were told they were building us a parking garage (and that's all). Turns out, they built a whole new apartment complex which will have a parking garage- which does not welcome Wellington residents. Property management can be a tough job but nothing excuses the way they treat the residents. Anyone I see in the hallway or elevator has the same complaints. It's unfortunate considering the location is good, but it's really not worth it. I would not recommend The Wellington to anyone.

Lived here for 2 years and it's absolutely the worst place I've ever lived. Worse than the apartments I lived in during college (and those were a sight to see). Not only is the staff completely incompetent but the construction was RIDICULOUS. They also left my door open for hours while I was at work after doing maintenance work that left my apartment bathroom looking like a crack house. Avoid at all costs.

Despite some nice touches, such as the shuttle service and spacious apartment, several issues: 1) Package pickup here is a nightmare and if you work regular business hours, difficult to receive packages in a timely fashion. 2) Management response to issues can sometimes be slow. 3) Laundry machines have destroyed my clothing on several occasions. 4) Walls are paper-thin. You can hear everything on the other side. 5) Bathroom switch turns on both the light and the fan, making it impossible to use the bathroom or charge rasors without turning everything on. As I said, walls are paper-thin, and the fan is very loud. Would appreciate a response from the wellington on these issues.

I have lived here for 2.5 years and am moving out when my current lease ends. This place seems great but currently they are doing a ton of construction to put luxury condos in. There have been no updates in my apartment since moving in and they have increase rent significantly. Not sure where the money is going (at least half if not all the equipment in the gym is broken at all times, the pool is not well taken care of, the mail center has extremely inconvenient hours if you commute-closes at 5 except for one day a week 7). The roof top area is VERY poorly maintained and even if you do want to go up there it closes at 6. You pay for parking in the parking lot that has a ton of pot hole from the construction truck or you can double the parking fee for the garage which depending on what building you live in is not that close (think running across 2 football fields when raining). If you pay for ground parking you better be home before 7 or you will not get a spot and have to find a spot on the street. The washer/dryers they have do a poor job cleaning your clothes and the dryers can only handle half a load. The apartments themselves are fine but you can get better for the price. The community itself has a ton of smokers. This may not bother you but in the winter some people smoke in the stairwells and management does nothing to stop/prevent it from happening. They have good sign up deals then hike your rent the next year (again no updates and major construction going on so no reason for the increase).
The management doesn’t care about the residents convenience. The parking is a big problem, you may wake up and don’t find your car. The building is not secure. No cameras or concierge to make sure no strangers are in and out. You may have mice living with you for few months until you get the management to take the issue seriously.
I have lived here almost one and half years, I thought it is a good place to live. But something happened recently really made me crazy! 1, the construction makes parking difficult! 2, I had an important and inreplaceable document mailed to my apt and required signature. The UPS left it in leasing office and signed by one of their staffs. Then I didn't get my package, I went to the office ask them about it. The lady who signed my package just said:"I signed it, doesn't mean it is your package." Really bad management team!!! They lost my package even didn't say sorry, seems it was my fault!!!

I've lived here for a year and am counting down the days until my lease runs out. The noise in this building is THE WORST! We hear EVERYTHING in the hallway, and we have extremely noisy and inconsiderate neighbors. A family down the hall that we don't even share walls with has been a nightmare--they allow their young kids to run around and scream in the hallways throughout the day and as late as 11 p.m. DURING the week. We don't share walls with them, but we can still hear their kids screaming inside their apartment in addition to when they're in the hallway. The neighbor across the hall has a dog that whines and barks all day long--and we hear it, despite not sharing walls, also. We've complained to management for 7 months about the family with the screaming kids and they act sympathetic and claim they've talked to the family and even escalated the issue to their legal team, but nothing has changed. The noise is still a daily issue, and they haven't evicted these people despite the fact that they said the family would be evicted if they didn't comply within a certain time period. In addition to not having any peace and quiet, the parking lot is a nightmare. Don't expect to be able to find a parking spot near your building past 8 p.m. because they will all be taken, and all the street parking on Scott St. will be filled up before 5 p.m. They added additional parking, but it's still not enough to accommodate everyone. You can pay for a reserved spot, but most of those are taken. To make matters worse, they're doing construction behind the building and there's a constant parade of work trucks going in and out of the parking lot and taking up space. Plus, they frequently restrict parking for construction purposes, and they tow if you park in the restricted area and aren't out by 5 or 6 a.m. It's ridiculous. The finishes in the updated apartments are nice in terms of aesthetics, but the infrastructure hasn't been updated well. Plumbing is a huge issue. We have the most pitiful water pressure in our kitchen, and we have experienced persistent issues where there's not enough water pressure for the toilet to flush in the bathroom; you have to wait until it stops the cycle and try again. The price and the space might be good, but this place is not worth it if you expect any sort of peace and quiet in your home or functional plumbing. I would NOT recommend this complex.

I’ve lived here for 2 years now and am counting down the days until my lease is up. If you’re not home by latest 230 pm on any given day you’re not going to find parking anywhere in the parking lot or on s scott street at all. More often than not I have to park my car about a mile away and walk home. On top of the mile walk to your car it’s also extremely convenient to have to have your car moved by 7-8 am the next day so it doesn’t get ticketed or towed. The parking lot has been a constant construction zone for the 2 years I’ve been here. Nothing is getting accomplished except for losing the little amount of parking spaces we have, due to construction zones, equipment, and vehicles. The gyms are dirty and the equipment is extremely old. It’s not uncommon for the equipment to be broken. If the pool is a reason you’re looking at this complex KEEP LOOKING. The pool is closed more than its open. Management won’t open the pool so people can either swim at their own risk or just sit by the pool on nice days. It’s only 3.5 feet deep. The lifeguards never check pool passes so all the baby sitters in the area let their friends and the 5 kids they’re watching come use the pool so it’s usually a pee pool. The hallways are dingy and dirty. If we’re lucky the hallways get vacuumed once every 2 weeks maybe? By the end of the first week the hallways smell disgusting.

If you’re looking for a lot of noise, run down unsightly property with unpleasant management office staff, look no further. The Wellington has been going downhill at a fast pace since Bozzuto took over. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. There are several properties in the same are that are much nicer, better managed and in the same price range.

Currently, there is massive construction project going on that will be continuing for the next year. It has left parking a complete mess, and there is lots of noise. The buildings are quite old with lots of problems that management does not seem to want to spend the money to fix. There used to be a large dog park and play ground that they have now removed to put up another apartment building. Management is horrible. They are disorganized, unprofessional, and clearly not invested in their jobs. Very shady practices, too. Always looking for an angle to get more money out of tenants, even though the quality of the resident has gone down. They write all these comments about wanting to get feedback to make changes, but ultimately they don't actually make any changes on the feedback. Such a joke. Definitely not worth the money.

I don't enjoy living here. And the reason is because of management. Even though it was changed last year; new folks have not come with anything positive. In fact; new staff is worse. If you ask them a question; they wont answer but try to avoid answering. They are lazy and you cant expect a response back if you send an email out. Price is too high for the services they provide. Utility bills are high no matter if you use it or not (they charge you even if you don't use anything). Last week; i was asking staff a question about parking policy and they started to argue with me. I was taken aback because I have never seen any staff behaving so rudely with a resident (read customer) with no reason. I am waiting when I can move out.

This is literally the worst apartment I've ever lived in. And I've lived everywhere. They turn off the air conditioner so they can offer heat instead in October and don't turn it on again until May 14. Our unit, with a southwestern exposure, is consistently 20-30 degrees warmer(depending on whether I need to do laundry, run the dishwasher, or you know, eat) than outside ambient air temperature. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. Even in winter, we never needed to turn on the heat and on several occasions went down into the 20s outside. In October and November, I was 7 and 8 months pregnant with indoor temperatures in the 90s in our apartment. I had to sleep with ice packs under my armpits and bathe several times a day. When we complained to the management, we kept getting nothing but excuses. There's a reason pregnant women are not allowed to bathe. Excessive heat causes birth defects. Then winter hit and we were finally comfy in our apartment albeit with the windows open all winter. Now it is April and it's in the high 80s outside. Yes, it is, you guessed it, now over 100 in our apartment. Meanwhile, we now have a 4 month old covered in heat rash who will not stop screaming because he is too hot and can't even be held or we are afraid he will get heat stroke. We call the management and they don't seem to care. They just keep telling us other people are cold, they can't shut off the heat per county law and refuse to drop $300-400 on a portable air conditioner for us. DO NOT RENT HERE.

Ah the wellington, there isn't enough time in the day to tell you what you are and all you'll never be. I want to start by saying i realize the price point of the building is attractive given the area, but at the end of the day no amount of money saved was worth living with mice. In the two years i lived there i caught 11 mice (I photographed each as proof for the front office staff). They ruined my clothes, my food and made me not want to come home. Do you know what its like to hear rummaging in your room while you're trying to sleep, knowing its the mice you haven't caught yet? Like i said, if saving money is your goal, you will try and make this work, but i don't think you'll feel that way after you've put your hand down on mouse feces on your kitchen counter top - to the front office Diva who works directly under Devin with the attitude....this review is for you. Don't you ever treat people who live there like second class citizens - this line of work isn't for you, so pack it up and find a job where you don't have to be nice to people.

Hi David, Thanks for taking the time to speak with me regarding your posting. Your feedback is important and I'm sorry we haven't had more time to discuss and address these issues before your move out. Dealing with the transition between management companies has been challenging. As you know we've been working to change perception I'm excited that we're heading in the right direction. In the meantime, if you need anything from me please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Devin 703.920.3111
I live here. My apartment is spacious and okay but floor plan is not good of this aprtment. But my overall experience has been bad - 1. Bad service/staff - My calls/emails are not returned. I have to remind them multiple times. Staff is not friendly. they changed the staff and new one is not different either. 2. Maintenance - One maintenance guy came in my absence and left my door unlocked. when I complained to staff they kept asking me to contact someone else in their office. Kind of not taking the responsibility. 3. Monthly charges - I dont use my apartment as much but my maintenance is not what I use but total of what everyone use (including staff) divided by total occupancy. I am paying double of what I am using for lats 1 year. 4. Surprise - I just got to know that even if I leave the apartment by breaking lease. I will be asked to pay utilities till the original signed lease which is ridiculous. I can understand that I should pay rent till the time I originally signed the lease but why utilities? 5. Shuttle service, Gym, TV in common area, pool, elevators - so many times they dont work and we keep getting some kind of email about out of service. Shuttle, gym, pool are also far away from north building. 6. there was an alarm once in my neighbor's apartment and I called to inform the emergency services that something may be wrong and you should find out whats wrong. They said they cant address this now till morning 9am; its outside hours. 7. Car parking - I dont own a car but sometimes my friends visit or I get rental and need parking. I requested them to give me a parking slot permanently so I dont have to visit or request them every time when I need (esp since they are closed in nights when sometimes my friend visit). They plainly said big NO. High rent depending on the place and services.

I lived there for 3 years. The first 2 years were good. The third year there has been change of management. The new management is so bad. A lot of the good rating you see here are about the old management. So be careful what you are getting into. There has not been one time that I went to the management with a problem and they solve it. Everytime they make it worth. They don't know anything about costumer service.
