Located in the historic Northern Neck area of Virginia, Dahlgren is approximately 55 miles south of Washington, D.C., 60 miles north of Richmond, Virginia, and 28 miles east of Fredericksburg, Va. It is framed by water between the Potomac and Rappahannock rivers, and it is adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay. Dahlgren enjoys mild weather with average winter temperatures of 30 degrees and summer temperatures around 90 degrees. Dahlgren sits just over 50 miles south of Washington, D.C. on the western shores of the Potomac River. This small Virginia town may have only 2.7 square miles of land within its borders, but it has grown rapidly from a population of less than 1,000 in the early 2000s. Dahlgren is a convenient spot for military personnel or anyone who works at the nearby Naval Support Facility.
Dahlgren Road is where locals go to grab a bite at one of the locally-owned restaurants.
