Property Ratings at Wesley Village
The physical location is great, apartments are nothing extraordinary, management is horrendous. 1. Don't pay attention to the promotions they run, it's very likely you'll never receive what ever the promotion promised. 2. Management is only responsive when there is money involved. Noise complaint? You're on your own. Issues with amenities? Just don't use them. It's not like you're paying for them or anything. 3. Gym is not an actual gym, just some treadmills, machines and dumbbells, no actual barbells. 4. Gate fobs they give you don't actually work. So all in all, property is bad because management is the definition of incompetence

Hello, We're upset to hear of your experience with our community. We'd love the chance to speak with your directly to go over some of the concerns you expressed as over the past year there have been some significant changes. Please contact our Leasing Office at (704) 372-1130. Thank you, Wesley Village Team
Half of the gates are broken, cars constantly get broken into. Constantly. Trash around the property. Elevators are always dirty, half the time there’s urine....yes urine...no it will not get cleaned up by the management...yes, you will more than likely take the stairs. Constant odor of marijuana. Whatever price you set and agree on, it will change. Constantly charge you $25 fines, for example if you put lights on your balcony or a towel or anything nice, yes its a $25 fine. Management constantly changes, if that tells you anything. Don’t be shocked to live without AC or heat, just be prepared. Nice sink hole in the bag that gets your car muddy every time it rains. No its not getting fixed, its been going on for couple years. N
Lived here for almost 3 years. The apartment itself was great. Close to uptown, BOA stadium and many other things. Great size apartment and the pool in the complex is a lot of fun...BUT the new management is terrible. I had nothing but issues when I moved out. They said I didn’t notify them 30 days in advance but I had the email as proof. Then they didn’t show up for my “move-out walk through”. I gave them my new address but they never sent me a final bill and sent me right to collections for lack of payment. I’ve tried calling them and they won’t return my phone calls because it’s “not their problem anymore”. They added numerous fees to the final bill with no breakdown or explanation. Bottom line...be warned about the new management and keep your documentation!
I’ve lived here almost 5 months now and I signed my lease without even taking a tour of the place. I had to go by the pictures and the vibe I got from the girls over the phone. I moved here from Alabama and I didn’t have the time to come up just to apartment hunt. The girls in the office are SO sweet and helpful. They always have a big smile on their faces and are excited about all the events and things happening at Wesley. They just renovated the clubhouse and it’s beautiful. These apartments are so spacious and have all the nice finishing. Granite, stainless steel, dish washers, garbage disposals, back splashes, everything. I actually have the smallest 2BR 2BA apartment and it’s still so spacious. It’s a quiet apartment complex for the most part, plenty of parking, and gated. A few of the buildings have garages, elevators, lofts, and other special features. The pool is big and there’s nice chairs, grills, music, couches, cabanas, and restrooms. There’s only a few kids that live here and pretty much everyone here is like 20s/30s. The area is great, a few places you can walk to including the panthers stadium and restaurants. It’s a cheap uber/Lyft to anywhere uptown, plaza, or south end and less than 10 min. You really can’t beat what all Wesley Village has to offer for the price. It’s uptown living without the price and stress of horrible parking and noise honestly.
Where to start.. well I’ve lived here for about 2 months now and on my first night, I walked out to my car window completely shattered in our “gated community.” Mind you, the gates have been broken nearly the whole entire time that I’ve lived here, so... so much for being “safe”. With that being said, when you call the office explaining that your car got broken into and your concern for safety with the gates, their answer is, “well we have cameras, but they don’t work anyway.. so there’s nothing we can do.” As well as “we’re working on the gate.” Well, it’s been two months and the gate is off the hinges and still broken. Also, they’re very big on their new “pool pass” idea.. literally all we hear about: not allowed to have more than one guest, not allowed to bring a personal speaker, this that and the third- but forget about the constant car break ins and the gate being broken. It’s a HUGE concern when you have to worry about parking inside the alleged “gated community” with a parking pass that we pay monthly for because cars are being damaged and your only answer is “did you file a police report” and “sorry, our cameras don’t work/are too blurry.” DONT live here, not worth the money or the effort because they don’t care about anything.

We regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. While we cannot guarantee safety as crime has no address, we do our best to ensure our gates are working properly at all times. Unfortunately we have had two instances as of late where the gate was hit by a car and had to make separate repairs, but they have been repaired and have been working properly since. We do welcome guests and allow two per apartment and have a no speaker policy as they can cause a disturbance; however, we do provide music for your listening pleasure. There may be some confusion as we do not charge a monthly fee, rather passes are given at move in at no cost. We hope this clears up some of your frustrations and hope to speak with you directly to resolve any outstanding concerns you may have.
Wesley Village is located in a prime location right outside of Uptown. The commute to work takes me 5 mins, which is outstanding; not to mention the complementary Starbucks machine in the lobby. Being a young professional in the city makes this a huge benefit during the week. That said, even though the amenities are fairly nice they can found in just about any of the new apartment complexes recently opened nearby. Unfortunately, there is a major drawback and flaw with this community in that the physical apartment buildings/framework and units themselves are of poor/cheap construction (the new paint job came out nice, but don't let it fool you). The units themselves are decent inside, with the exception of the amount of noise pollution from neighbors. You can hear your neighbors at all hours of the day (and night) through the walls and ceilings upstairs. This includes stomping footsteps, any form of yelling/shouting, washer/dryer machines, barking dogs, and plumbing, to name a few. It's hard to get a good night sleep, let alone just try to relax. This has been brought to the attention of management regularly, but they don't do anything about it or just tell you what you want to hear. I will not be renewing my lease due to this norm. The location is certainly the best part, but the noise factor really does impact the living experience here in a very negative way. Like my old boss used to say, "it's like putting lipstick on a pig around here".

Thank you for your feedback. I'm the new property manager and would love the chance to speak with you directly so we can address any noise issues that you are experiencing. Normal day to day activity is common to hear multifamily housing but we can address the excessive noise. Please reach out so we can get more details and help resolve these issues.
The buildings and apartments are gorgeous - there really is no catch. There are four women who run the office and I love every single one of them! Maintenance requests completed next day, great location, very community feel despite close proximity to Uptown. Pictures online don't really do it justice, so go take a tour! Drawbacks: tricky gate access for guests, only part of the complex has ATT available.

Thank you for your taking the time to leave us such a positive review!
I have been at Wesley for awhile now and really have loved the experience. I have seen a lot of improvements since it was bought out this year. The buildings are being freshly painted. I didn't even realize the old paint was as faded until I started seeing the new and it definitely makes a huge difference! The pool area was redone this year and new stuff added to it. I come into the office everyday with my dog and the staff knows his name and gives him a treat. He won't even let me walk by the door without stopping in for his cookie and his pets. I have read reviews about the staff being rude but this has never been my experience. My apartment is very spacious and for the price you can't beat it. The complex is in a really convenient location and has close highway access making it easy to get around.

Thank you for such kind words and positive review! We love having you here and seeing you and your pup each day!
I lived in Wesley Village for a year. I ultimately did not resign my lease for a number of reasons. The gate- BROKEN. When it did work it was noisy and would wake me up at night. Not sure why I was paying to live in a gated community that didn't have a gate. The trash company- AWFUL. We got charged $25 for a trash fee because it wasn't in a trash bag. Too lazy to do their jobs! The staff- UNHELPFUL. Nice but they don't care about the residents. They signed for a package of mine (valued at $750 dollars) and did not notify me. When I asked them to notify me for future packages, they said that it was not a policy, it was a favor to me. Why couldn't they just say yes and do their job? I know why, because they are lazy!!!! I saved the worst for last.. I moved out June 30th. In August, I called to check on my security deposit refund. They said it takes 4-6 weeks after moving out to receive it so I should receive it soon. I waited, nothing. I called, they did not have any information on it. I called 12 times and kept getting the same run around. I would ask to speak to the property manager who was supposed know the status of it, and she avoided me! Told me she would call back later, she never did. When I called her, she once again avoided my call. Maybe they thought I was being annoying? But they had $500 of my money and they were doing nothing to help! Once again, lazy. The best part about this is that their excuse was: "our headquarters were in Miami and i don't know if you have heard or not, but it was affected by the hurricane." Who in America did not hear about hurricane Irma?? They used that excuse three times on me! The hurricane happened two months after I moved out, I should have received my money way before then! Finally, I just called their headquarters in Miami and they were open and they told me the status of my check. Guess they were open after all! It is so unprofessional to lie to try to cover your own tracks, but guess that is what I should expect! It ended up taking me 4 months to get my check.. ridiculous. There are so many amazing complexes in Charlotte, don't waste your money living at Wesley Village. You will end up disappointed and frustrated!

Thank you for your feedback. We hate you ultimately moved and wish we could have turned your experience around prior to.
The leasing office team is great, Kelly was very helpful and knowledgeable and got me just the apartment I was looking for. The community is awesome with all the renovations that they are doing, and I like the fact that Im very close to Uptown and South End!!

Thank you for taking the time to give us such a positive review! We love that you've had such a wonderful experience!
Gated community but the gates rarely work. Front office is very unprofessional, packages are always lost. Yes, this is consistent since new management has taken over the property. The only, and i mean only, good thing about this complex is simply, the location.

We hate to hear of your experience and would like the chance to turn it around. Please contact us at the leasing office and we are happy to assist with any of your concerns.
Great apartment complex. Has a dog park and wonderful staff. They are attentive and very helpful when needed.
Very nice kitchen with lots of storage and decent counter tops. Walk in closet is a decent size. There is no other storage in the 1 bedrooms other than that which is unfortunate. Gym has a bike, a few treadmills and ellipticals, nothing too special. Starbucks coffee in the clubhouse is awesome and convenient. Pool and grills on site are nice and well kept but often packed. Neighbors are super friendly. Plenty of parking and walking distance to Bank of America stadium and BB&T ballpark. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
Wesley Village, when compared to the inordinate amount of apartment Charlotte has to offer, is a decent decent apartment complex. It's not bad on the eyes, and, at $1,036/month for a 1-bedroom, not too bad on the wallet either. Combine that price with the location, which is about 5 minutes from Uptown, and this place would seem to be a winner. However, like the Charlotte Hornets being a good NBA franchise, that's just not the case. I mean, its not all bad. The apartment is well laid out with high end appliances. The closet space is manageable, and the bedroom(s) are a good size. Also, compared to some other kitchens at higher-end apartments, Wesley Village offers a high quality kitchen with plenty of cabinet space and good finishes. Oh, one more thing, the pool is out of this world. If you're young and want to get rowdy, it was literally made for you. But, the new management company that took over for the old one is absolutely deplorable at their job. The property was formerly managed by Greystar, and they did an incredible job at management. Professional, prompt, courteous, (insert adjective) . . . . However, the ownership at Wesley Village must have determined that Greystar wasn't worth the money, so they brought in their own crew to handle things. And then the nightmare began. Management now is unprofessional, slow, unorganized, and downright rude. And all of these attributes were experienced by my fiance and I, which pay our rent early every month and, being true southerners, are impossible not to get along with (or so we think at least). Nevertheless, before the new management showed up, we were content in staying in this apartment for 3-4 years while we built up our savings for a downpayment. But, alas, our hand has been forced and we will be leaving at the end of our lease to head for higher ground (like literally . . . we're moving into uptown). If you're looking for a decent apartment, close to uptown, with a nice kitchen and a great pool, Wesley Village could be your ticket. However, you've been warned. The new management is absolutely awful.
