Central West End’s European vibe is on display everywhere you look, from the classic architecture and layout to the charming parks and gardens to the open-air cafes and bistros that line the streets. The most dominant landmark is the sprawling Forest Park with its trails, sports facilities, lush greenery, and famous zoo – it’s a perfect community backyard for the families and urban professionals who call CWE home. The neighborhood’s elaborate Halloween celebrations and Labor Day Greek Festival are immensely popular, drawing people from all over the city. Art galleries and performance venues are popular draws as well, and the neighborhood enjoys a healthy yet subdued nightlife scene.
While located at the heart of one of the region’s biggest cities, Central West End is mostly residential, with most of the landscape filled with single-family homes. Apartments tend to be very affordable, and rental houses tend to be quite reasonable as well.

Property Ratings at West End Terrace
Terrible service after you sign the contract. Rude and irresponsible staffs. Managers were not friendly to the residents. They failed to fix residents' plumbing issues, bathtubs, toilets, fridges, and heat. The rent is low for a reason. My friend and I both moved out as soon as we could when the lease ended. Residents' cars got stolen and car windows got smashed. License plates got stolen. But the leasing office just ignored the issue. Avoid this apartments and other properties owned by the Mills Properties! It is not worth the price or location for the constant issues and unresponsive and rude management. They always asked the users who left bad reviews to reach out to them to "work towards a resolution". Guess what? The old manager was fired recently and they can't even find a new manager.

Hi, my name is Bob and I became the property manager at West End Terrace on February 1st, 2023. I apologize for the poor service you received during your stay at West End Terrace but I can assure you that service issues you mentioned would be addressed promptly and professionally today. Our resident satisfaction is critical to the success of both West End Terrace and Mills Properties. Thank you, Bob Shymanski Property Manager West End Terrace Apartments
There are some upsides and many downsides to this place. Location is convenient and apartments are spacey and decent for the price, maintenance staff are very kind. Management is bad. At the end of my lease, they charged me for “repairs” by sending an email to an account I had specifically told them I do not use anymore, and sent the bill to a collection company after only 3 days without ever calling me or making sure I received their message. Other issues are: slow and unresponsive to repair requests, parking lot gets a lot of vandalism at night (gated parking is not very effective as doors often stay open most of the night), thin walls that make it hard to sleep if neighbors have pets or are playing music, slow snow removal, rude management in response to any concerns. I had a tree branch inside the parking lot fall on my car and break the window, only to be told by management that it is not their issue that they didn’t properly maintain trees inside their property. Also, make sure to see your own apartment before signing. Pictures they have posted are misleading. Overall, not a bad place, but very bad management. You can find something safer, closer to medical campus for the same price or a little more expensive with much better service.

Hi, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. We would like to work towards a resolution, so if you are willing, please reach out to us at (314) 533-8444 to discuss this further.
This apartment complex has its pluses and minuses. Lived here for a year in an unrenovated 2 bd/2 bath unit that was on Maryland Ave. The benefits are in-unit laundry, which does save money in the long run, relatively large space for a reasonable price, and quick access to the CWE and WUSM/Goldfarb/STLCOP campuses with some physical separation (which was important to me). The downsides are mainly related to the quality of the units, which is because I lived in an unrenovated unit. The cabinets, flooring, and borders of carpet to wall are pretty poor. Two other small quirks in the same field are that a) For some reason the bathroom sink fills up with water every time the washing machine is run, and b) The limiters/aerators they placed on the sinks reduce the water flow to a trickle. The office staff are quite responsive, if slightly uncoordinated, and the maintenance people are great. My recommendations would be to get a unit not on Maryland as for some reason people like to floor it on the intersection of Maryland and Taylor, and to get a renovated unit if you can.

Hi there, we appreciate your honest review. We set a high standard for ourselves, so we are disappointed to hear that your experience with us was not a positive one in a few areas you mentioned. Please reach out to us so we can work towards a resolution on that service request you mentioned with the sink. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. We hope to hear from you soon. All the best, West End Terrace (314) 533-8444
Was very excited about this apartment complex but extremely disappointed upon move in. Our apartment was in no way shape or form "move-in ready". There is SUCH a long list of things wrong with it. On top of that, whatever contractor they used for putting in tubs/showers/sinks and painting were very obviously the cheapest they could find. There is bright yellow glue, caulk, paint splatter, etc. EVERYWHERE and it all looks terrible. With so many things broken and so much TERRIBLY done work on the appliances, it has thus far been a huge disappointment. Everyone so far has been nice about the issues but unless these issues are resolved and our apartment is made actual move-in ready, 2 stars is being very generous.

I have lived at West End Terrace for two months now and so far it has been a great experience! I moved from Minnesota and the crew here made my transition an easy one. The complex is quite and I feel very safe. It is a great location, close to the Med Campus and places to walk for groceries, dining out, etc. One of the biggest factors that drew me to this apartment complex is that it is pet friendly. While I have had a couple issues within the apartment, the maintenance crew has always solved the problem the same day I reported it! Overall, I would highly recommend the West End Terrace.

Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Thank you again for the great review!
The West End Terrace is a great place to live! I just renewed my lease to stay for another year because my roommate and I love it here. The management is friendly and attentive and any maintenance needs are taken care of really quickly. The courtyard and pool area are kept up really well. The location cannot be better- just blocks from the active center of the central west end and Forest Park. This is a perfect place for young professionals or anyone who like to be in the middle of everything!

I moved to West End Terrace because they offered short term leases, which was great. They were the only apartment around that offered that (3 mo, 6 mo, 10 mo I believe). They have a pool, which is great. Also a small gym which isn't amazing, but it does the trick. The maintenance people are pretty prompt. It's also in a great location (right down the street from a great little down town). Obviously there are some cons. I had seen 4 apartments while living there and all of them were different. Some had wood floors, some granite, some had the counters just spray painted white...I didn't like knowing that I paid the same as people with a nicer apartment. Also I know the third floor gets very hot, and on the first floor I had to kill way too many (huge) bugs than I wanted to. Huge spiders, a cockroach (water bug as they called it), hornet, and more. Overall it's great for short term living, but I wouldn't live here as a permanent situation. You can easily find never places for a similar, maybe even better, price.

Hi, it is disappointing for us to hear that your experience was anything less than great. However, thank you for sharing your experience and feedback. We take resident feedback seriously so that we can adjust to offer a better product and excellent customer service.
A gated complex in a very good, vibrant neighborhood; within walking distance to the library, cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets, a very short drive to the Muny, Zoo, etc. - it is like a piece of Europe in the middle of St Louis. All the other apartments in the area are in high rises, so it was great to find a gated community with nice landscaping, picnic tables and grills, and ample parking for free. The fitness room is not the most modern, and the pool and computer room are a bit on the small side, but we never found them to be too crowded. The tenants are polite and the leasing office & maintenance staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. The buildings are a bit old so we had the occasional problem, but someone always arrived within the day to check it out, and all repairs were completed super fast. If you move in between May and Sept, keep an eye out and you might be able to furnish your place with the nice discards of the Med students moving out.
