Property Ratings at West Hills Apartments
West hills is terrible maintenance is horrible they advertise the pool being open your rent reflects it and pool hasn’t been open in three years always excuses leasing agent lies avoid
They are passive and will not answer your phone calls, but will text you or do nothing to address your concern/issue. We lived there for two years, but they never opened the pool. Despite this, we were still required to pay the full amount of rent. The charge for doing laundry was increased, but tenants were not notified of this increase by management. The sewage backed up and we had to clean it in our bathrooms. It was required of the tenants to call the health department before the ground floor was cleaned to enter our apartment. They are very expensive for what the have to offer and I was very disappointed in many outcomes during my stay. I DO NOT recommend living here!
I have lived here for a little over 7 months. I can't express how great of a response the leasing office/maintenance departments have been to my needs as well as responding to emergent issues. They are considerate by notifying you ASAP via text/e-mail of any issues. The leasing office responds to my questions/requests so promptly! Also, they are kind enough to explain what they are repairing/time duration/ etc. My father is recently a retired maintenance man and always said "there are really good ones and really lazy ones in this field." They have really good ones here!
Management has always been iffy but never bothered me enough to write a review - I am only writing this in hopes that any pet owner will NOT consider this complex. I live on the ground floor, and with that there are inherent risks (such as in this case - flooding). I accepted that and of course have renters insurance for such unfortunate events. What cannot be excused is the way in which the flooding (which occurred late 1/1/20 but was not even acknowledged by maintenance until 10 AM 1/2 after the fire department had been called) was handled. I received a text saying the water may be out for some time and feel free to use their clubhouse bathroom. Great, I'm not concerned because I'm at a friends house - no need to rush home if I've got no water right? I arrive at 8:30 PM on 1/2 to find my apartment full of fans sopping wet floors, and evidence of 3" of flooding. One of my cats is missing, and thousands of dollars in personal property damage (including irreplaceable pictures) that could've been avoided if they had the courtesy to call the residents of the units affected. My cat is now gone forever - things can be replaced, but if you own and love your pets, avoid this place at all costs. I might add this isn't the first time they've let one out after entering my unit without notice - luckily I came home shortly after and she was still hanging around the building, scared.
I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment in West Hills for 2 years and absolutely loved it! The pool was one of my favorite perks :) The few times I had a concern or issue, management was responsive and provided great help. It was so bittersweet to move out!
Great value for the price! I lived in West Hills apartments from June 2017-May 2019. There are many great things about it compared to the last apartment I lived in. The office staff is always responsive and friendly. Any issues in my apartment were addressed. If they couldn't fix it right away, they always let us know what was going on. They actually care about any issues I brought up! Roni and Illana (the office staff) are very friendly! The community is dog friendly and offers a wonderful bark park. This was a great spot for my Labrador to run around and get her energy out. As long as you read the lease and follow the rules everything is very standard. Don't pay too much attention to the negative reviews, because I bet they didn't follow the very clearly laid out community rules and got upset! Overall great place to live.
I lived here for about 6 months and I loved it! The management office staff actually cares about the tennants. Every single time I walked in, Ilana was there to greet me and was always super cheerful and willing to help. Even if she knew that it was a maintenance problem or a random complaint about neighbors or something. Roni was also there to make sure everything on the maintenance end was taken care of and orders were put in right. She is super personable and loved to talk to the tennants, making sure that when we left the office, we left knowing that our problem was solved. There were a couple times I had to call in to tell Ilana and Roni that I couldn't put in the rent until the 2nd even though it was due on the first, and they completely understood and allowed me to put it in that night so that I wasn't charged a late fee. Whenever I had to call with a question, no matter how stupid it was, Roni and Ilana were always so willing to help answer it and help me with any confusion I may have had. When I had to leave and move to Florida, they took care of me and made it easy to get off the lease there as much as I didn't want to. They make sure to keep you updated with everything, and they truly make you feel at home. The maintenance staff do a wonderful job keeping up with tennants needing maintenance on their apartments and do a great job keeping the pool clean in the summer. Thankfully, the dog park and the areas around the park and apartments are clean of any dog poop thanks to a program they have where if you see anyone not picking up after their dog and you report it with proof, you get $50 off that month's rent!!!! The landscaping there is beautiful as well, so you can rest assured that when you come home, you feel welcomed and relaxed. Everything is so easy and hassle-free, to where you can always keep up with everything going. Roni and Ilana are very good at being forth coming and upfront, so you don't have to worry about anything being hidden from you. Everyone there is so good-willed and I would recommend this place to anyone that was looking for an apartment to call home. From the good landscaping, to the comfy and affordable apartments, to the amazing maintenance staff and the office management- Roni and Ilana, this place could definitely be the best place you have ever been to.
Went in and inquired about a two bedroom apartment and was told that one would be coming available in November. Was told that the apartment is currently being occupied but the Current renter would possibly allow us to view the apartment before we did the application and put down our money. Was told by the leasing agent that she will contact the current renter in regards to us a viewing the apartment within a couple of days before we did the application fee. One day went by and I called back to the office to see what the updates were in regards to us viewing the apartment and was told that the apartment has been taken. We were told that we could view the apartment before we did the application and put down our money although they say it’s first come first serve basis , the apartment leasing agent made us believe Otherwise otherwise. I did ask the manager for the corporate number and she acted as if she did not know it . Needless to say I found the number and I will be filing a complaint with corporate and maybe taking some sort of legal action needless to say I found the number and I will be filing a complaint with corporate maybe taking some sort of legal action.
The contract says i can get my money back Within 72 hours of moving in. They refused!
I was so in a rush to move here to get away from my old neighborhood that I didn't pay attention to the small details in the contract... overly high coverage for renters insurance, late fees etc. The apartments are not worth the price and you can't trust some of the maintenance
For the most part we really like it. Lately the dog park is gross there is dog poop and trash all over it no one ever picks it up in there and we step in it every time so we just stopped going. The apartments are nice and the neighbors are nice and the front desk ladies are very friendly and actually care about you. The only complaint I have is the speed bumps. I go slow and it still kills my car I’m about to start sending them my car bills for it to get fix every month. I know speeding was a issue but they don’t need to be so high that they damage almost every car...
This was the worst apartment that I have ever lived in. When I first moved in I immediately knew I made a mistake. The people below me were drug dealers and caused the whole building to smell of Marijuana. There are always dogs barking day and night and they would never be quiet. The neighbors were rude and nasty just like the staff. I had a problem with my dishwasher and after a few weeks maintenance fixed it but my PlayStation disappeared and when I told management they didn't do a thing so Bye Bye PlayStation. The outside was gross and nasty because nobody picked up after their dogs and I found used needles multiple times going to my car. Cops are always there for something and there is never a place to park because someone is always having a party throughout the night. The neighbors are just so loud and noisy so we couldnt sleep. Don't even get me started on the bugs OH GOD THE BUGS. I mean they were everywhere in the hallways and would always find a way in. I broke my lease after 3 months and they sued trying to get me to pay the rest of the lease. DO NOT MOVE HERE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! I don't mean to sound nasty but I'm just being honest and want others to know as a friendly warning.
According to West Hills Apt's earnest money is only refundable if the rentee declines occupancy of the apartment once approved. Approval would be based on current electric bill, employment and rental history. Prior to reaching out to the front desk and asking about the deposit refunds, several calls were made to me stating I had only met 1 of the 3 requirements. After the call, a sweeping generalization was made about why I called and I was given an approval and an occupancy date w/out 2 of the 3 requirements being met. This was done in anticipation of me declining the apartment and them keeping the 100 dollars. In my mind I had already forfeited the 100 dollars of earnest money, but the shadiness was so blatant that I had to come here and write a review.
I lived here for two years now. I did like my space. The staff is friendly and helpful, but in the two years here they have yet to fix my balcony. Other issues that came up were fixed in a timely manor though. It's a safe and quiet community. The first year I was here the rent went down when I renewed my lease. This year it's gone up a lot. I can't afford that and honestly even though I like it here don't think it's a good price for the apartments here. I have found one near by that is cheaper a month with more space and offers more amenities. It just depends on what you're looking for really. Good luck in your search.
I just renewed my lease here mainly because they are one of few apartments that allow dogs. They have some great ammeninties like a dog park, pool, and I even have my own balcony. The only things I would like to see are maybe a workout room and also would like to see more updated appliances in the apartments.
I'm getting ready to sign up for my second year here, but will be moving up to the 2nd floor where I can have a balcony. All my neigbors have been friendly and quiet considering how noisy apartment living can be, especially with dogs. The unit I curently live in was repaired from a water leak (?) but wasn't repaired very well and the sink and tub's recoating has been peeling off since day one. Those are my only complaints... Landscaping is beautiful especially around the pool. Everything is clean and well kept and I really like that there's a dog park there for dogs to run off some steam ;). Having dog clean up stations located around the property is a good idea too. Would have to say that the landscaping company could have done a better job with snow and ice removal this past winter though. I like the location....close to the highway, but wooded enough to see deer wandering on the propery occasionally.
This complex is in a great location on the west side, right next to the highway and other high volume streets. The staff are very nice and easy to work with, accommodating to needs/concerns in a timely manner with satisfying solutions. Neighbors are very nice as well, I am never skeptical or feeling endangered. Everything in the apartment is renovated with fairly new appliances. I'd like to see a fitness center available or a membership to Snap for a discounted price.
Property Manager at West Hills Apartments, Responded To This Review
Loh8en, I see that you were wondering about a discount for Snap Fitness. We do have business cards at the office for our residents to pick up. Snap Fitness offers special pricing for West Hills Apartments. Stop by and talk to the office staff to get more information!
moved here a few months ago and loved it! at first. wanted to stay another year or two. but then all the lies came out. my concerns were ignored, even safety issues were ignored. things have not been fixed when i report them to the office, but i have been able to personally talk to the maintenance crew when i see them out and they will take care of whatever i need fixed right then. not one phone call or email has been answered when sent to the office and when i go to the office i'm told whoever i need to talk to isn't in and no one has any idea of when she will be in. what i was told at the lease signing was just to get that money and entrap me into being unhappy. doors fall off the hinges regularly because the holes are so stripped from the years of putting them back in. blinds fall off all the time. toilet doesn't flush 80% of the time. pool would be filled with bugs because no one felt like skimming it. rules are not enforced properly. they let you get settled then everything seems to go wrong. BUT my neighbors are wonderful!! i don't want to move again but now i cannot wait til i get to move out of here! i wish the management would get their stuff together and they'd have a lot happier tenants. HUGE LET DOWN of an apartment on the management side. but does have an excellent location and prob the only place that allows dogs.
I have lived here for over three years, and love it! Great apartments, great neighbors, and excellent amenities. The maintenance staff is very courteous and fix things the right way in a very timely manner. They treat my dogs like family whenever they see them. The Women in the office are very knowledgeable, and they treat you like a friend any time you walk in. Someone is always available if needed. The landscaping always looks great with tons of plants/flowers. You can't beat the location. Seconds to 74 and 275, and lots of shopping/grocery nearby. West Hills has always treated my family and I great. Perfect place to start/raise a family, and a ton of green space for pets. I would recommend West Hills %100.
I have lived here for two an half years and I have heard all the horror stories, but I haven't experience any of them. My neighbors are great, the maintenance staff is great and the girls in the office is pleasant and helpful. I will be sad when I move out. I am expecting baby #2 and I have out grown my apartment.
I have lived at West Hills for 3 years now and when i first moved in the management sucked! Since the new management took over last year they have been excellent..They take care of problems in a timley manner and really respect their tennants. I know its a little pricey but for the location and great people it is well worth it!!
I'm not writing this review to be totally negative. I'm hoping someone from corporate will see it and make some changes. My apartment is very nice, however I have had 3 water leaks in the past year. When I asked one of the maintenance men if this was normal he told me that I was one of the lucky ones. The girls in the office are very nice if you ever get to see them. They go to lunch for hours at a time and although the office is supposed to open at 9 it's usually 9:30 or 10 before anyone shows up. Ther are other small issues, but I don't want to be a complainer. I suppose no apartment is perfect. I do love living here and don't ever want to move. I just wish management were a little more responsive to my needs.
