Property Ratings at West Park
This apartment complex is exceptional, with its well-maintained surroundings and top-notch amenities. The staff, from the office to the maintenance team, are amazing and always ready to assist. The apartment is a warm and inviting home in a vibrant and welcoming community. Special recognition goes to Diana for her wonderful activity organization, enhancing the sense of camaraderie. Living here has been an absolute pleasure, making it one of the best places I've ever lived in.
Pros: Management team (leasing office)- every time that I have had to call the office, you all have been very helpful and completed whatever request or answered any question that I have had in a very timely and professional manner. Maintenance team - very quick, safe, friendly, and efficient whenever I have required assistance. Cleanliness - hallways, parking garage, and other community areas are always very clean. The exterior portion of the complex also appears to be very well taken care of. Units - Very nice and modern. This would include the appliances, floors, cabinets, countertops, etc. Security - Considering that the Mobil 1 gas station right across the street appears to be a breading ground for homeless people, drug addicts, etc, I have not seen any of that type of behavior within the complex. It feels very well isolated from the common by-product of homelessness that haunts almost every portion of San Diego. Pet friendly - although I don’t have a dog, this would be a very easy complex to reside in if I did. Whoever thought of including a dog wash station deserves a pat on the back. Cons: Parking garage - The parking garage is an absolute nightmare, especially for people that reside on the higher floors. Going around 18 turns and 9 speed bumps to get to/from my parking spot everyday is a huge pain. While there is no legitimate solution to solve this, maybe an incentive for residents that live on higher floors could be discussed. Whoever designed that portion of the complex should not be designing any more parking garages. Something else that could be resolved would be having the gate open up automatically for cars exiting the parking garage. Not sure how this impacts security of the overall complex, but waiting to exit the parking garage when my girlfriend is borrowing the fob is an unnecessary hassle. The sad truth is that people wait on either side of the parking garage all the time for whatever reason, I know that I’m not the only one. No card fobs available - The previous complex that I lived at had an option to purchase a card fob for 35$ and then returning it when your lease is up. Incase you are not aware, they did not open up the parking garage, only the doors. Management dropped the ball on this one. Huge pain for me and my girlfriend who was not on the lease for irrelevant reasons, and had to utilize street parking. Do parents whose children that are not on the lease get an extra fob? If not, watch out when that elementary school opens u
I've lived here for 2 years. Yes, it looks nice, it has a lot of amenities and yes, it is close to malls, restaurants and grocery stores but all of that means nothing next to the money you pay and the actual experience of living here: - Most residents constantly break the rules that they agreed upon by signing the lease to rent: Being in the pool area after 10pm, smoking cigarettes, dogs without leashes, trash next to the trash shoot, dog poop in "no pets allowed" areas, to name a few. - Residents obnoxiously mark up the whole complex with their overwhelming cologne smell and speed up in the neighborhood with no regards for pedestrians. - Next door neighbors are disrespectful, I can't study, read a book, meditate nor sleep in without being disturbed by thumping noises and kids screaming, the walls are incredibly porous. - People love invading your reading space if you try to read a book somewhere outside in the complex (walking really close to your chair that your books gets brushed by every time.) - You feel almost forced to be in your apartment because of the residents violating rules everywhere right in your face. - Residents are incredibly inconsiderate about thumping noises, door slamming and loud echoing noises in the courtyard. They also let kids horseplay in the hallways and occasionally dogs running and playing fetch without leashes in the hallways inside. - Hot water takes 10 to 20 min to come out early in the mornings or early evening, which is the times you need it the most. - Pools and hot tubs are a nice feature, however, people make it gross by being occasionally obscene in the jacuzzi, letting kids play in it unsupervised and bringing dogs into the pool area (which they're not allowed), so I hardly use any of them. - The leasing office does NOTHING to enforce the rules nor address complaints but they will charge a fee for something they noticed without giving the resident a notice. - The security services never shows up about any issues I've reported. - Daily fire alarms going off and every other month there is a power outage in the middle of the night. - Residents put up un-allowed propaganda and tend to steal packages, break into cars inside of the "private parking garage" and vandalized the building itself by breaking glass doors and leaving trash bags in random places of the building.
From the outside it looks amazing, looks can be deceiving!!!! I could hear my upstairs neighbors conversations, my apartment smelt like pot, staff was super rude!!!! My favorite were multiple cars and motorcycles were stolden out of the parking garages. Security does nothing but walk around smoke and eat. Staff was super rude after receiving my keys. It is not as secure place at all cause most of the time the outside doors aren’t locked and homeless people come in. If you can live with all of that and the super loud fast and the furious drag shows that happen ever evening by all means enjoy your non peaceful home! Make sure you unit has cell phone signal, I had to go outside for an entire year to use my phone.
Ignore the ' perfect ' reviews, this apartment home has got to be one of the worst apartment homes in San Diego, despite their fine floor plans, their customer service is very obnoxious, their responses to their calls and emails are very inadequate. From a personal experience, I had a 16 hour flight back home, where I had to bring my bank statements to lease an apartment. However, I was surprised when I returned to see them being declined as they claimed it didn't include my full name, even though they didn't notify when I was back there. To sum up, I don't recommend such a place.
They will tow your car with minimal notice. I came to visit my friend who lives here. We went into the leasing office to get a guest parking pass. The guy inside said there was nobody available who could print us a pass and to come back in an hour. When I asked him what I was supposed to do since I had already been in the two hour parking spots for two hours and did not want to get a ticket, his reply was "well we aren't responsible if you get a ticket". So with that helpful information, my friend decided we would park my car on the roof where the guest parking is and leave a note explaining what happened. 1.5 hours later, we notice a missed phone call and text on my friends phone from security. We immediately go to check the car and it is gone. Towed. In one and a half hours the car was gone!!!! $370 to get my car back, bc I had to leave it overnight at the tow place since even if we picked it up,THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR ME TO PARK IT. By that time the leasing office was closed and I did not want to run the risk of them towing it once again. Live somewhere else. Or only live here if you don't plan on ever having visitors.
Driving by my current location, you would think to yourself, why would anyone want to live here? I don't blame them. It doesn't look like home from the outside. It's our faithful community that makes it a step up, compared to what meets the eye. The owner is there every morning to keep up with his passed-on family owned and operated establishment. The architecture grounds are almost always looking fresh and pleasant to see. There are the typical office, laundry and poolside amenities too. It really is a great place to be. Our neighbors, whether we speak in passing or in reference to each other are caring. Putting their residents weight on their shoulders, I couldn't be more thankful for this place or the owner's generosity and selflessness. I absolutely rate them 5 stars for their consistent efforts in trying to make a safe community within, regardless of the surroundings around.
I moved about a month ago and want to move out already. The public areas look very nice but if you're looking for a quiet place to be or enjoy you won't find it. Many families with kids, plus the music they play all the time won't let have it. The apartment is sort of spacious but the appliances are cheap, the washer and dryer make noise, the AC sounds like a plane taking off and the walls and roof must be thin because I can always hear my neighbours. You must be aware of the ants infestation too, although the exterminator comes every Tuesday, you shouldn't live with that, especially for the money you're paying for. Once again if you're more about the looks than the functionality this is for you, otherwise you won't be happy. They should've invested more in quality, more parking spaces, better appliances and building materials.
