From white-water rafting on the Cheat River to rock climbing at Coopers Rock to shopping for antiques, there's good reason Morgantown is the most popular destination in West Virginia -- add in West Virginia University and the reasons just become more impressive. Morgantown, situated along the Monongahela River, provides stunning views of the Appalachian Mountains -- especially from vantage points like Dorsey Knob. This park covers 71 acres, and the mountain is 1,398 feet high.
Considered a top-ranking research university, WVU was established in 1867 and features several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Residents of Morgantown can visit the university's Core Arboretum, which is free and open to the public. Residents can also cheer on the West Virginia Mountaineers at various sports events. The Mountaineers compete in NCAA Division I as part of the Big 12 Conference.

Property Ratings at West Run
0 Stars Honestly. Poor staff and Maintenance team cannot fix anything. Pool always closed and the AC never works. Staff never answers phone calls and they only call you back to ask you to renew your lease. Would not recommend, low quality apartments.

its cheap for a reason the bill service they use is just a money grab, they over charge, and they will charge you a cleaning fee even if your room is clean.

Far away from campus, thin walls, no security cameras on site

We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at West Run. We would like to have a better understanding about your experience and what can do to in the future to improve. Please reach out to us at info@westrunapartments.com at your earliest convenience.
This complex is probably the most affordable apartments in all of Morgantown. It is less than a 10 minute bus ride to downtown and it does not break the bank. I was struggling to find any apartments that were reasonably priced before this one.

Hi, your wonderful feedback and rating mean a lot to us. We are always more than happy to assist you if anything else comes up. Take care!
My apartment was clean upon arrival on move-in day, and maintenance issues were resolved in a fairly appropriate timeframe. Desk staff are friendly and helpful. The complex is quiet, which is a big plus for me having previously lived downtown. The Mountain Line bus service is typically reliable to get to/from WVU’s campus. Monthly rent is an excellent price for the quality that you receive.

Hi, we are so happy to read such a great review about West Run! We do hope we can be of assistance in the future. Take care!
Staying at West Run was enjoyable enough. The amenities are nice, rooms are spacious, and maintenance is always quick to fix whatever problem you may have. HOWEVER, expect no help from the desk staff and leasing services, especially if you are looking to sublet. It is very clear after trying to sublet for almost 4 months that the office staff has no communication no efficient way of keeping track of resident information. I have had to verify my moveout date multiple times after having sent in my move-out form 4 months ago, and multiple potential subletters have been turned away from leasing the apartment when I have had all required paperwork and keys turned into the office for months. Just last week I was called and asked when I plan on vacating the apartment. I'VE BEEN GONE FOR MONTHS, and this has been verified multiple times by paperwork and my roommates emailing the leasing office to confirm my vacating the apartment. Every month I have had to call and remind them I have left so they can once again nullify the leaser's insurance and electricity billing. Totally draining.

If you are considering staying here, PLEASE read this review. You will reconsider quickly. I am from out of state and due to COVID, I did not have the ability to see West Run in person before signing a lease. I knew that it was student housing so I couldn’t exactly “choose” where I wanted to live, but prior to my arrival, I had talked to 4 different West Run staff about my 11 year old dog and how he struggled with stairs and that I would prefer the first floor. All 4 staff members stated that they could definitely make that work given that there was a lot of vacant housing due to me moving during the pandemic. Well, when I got there, I was on the THIRD floor. This resulted in me being unable to keep my animal with me. When I entered the room, it reeked of cigarettes. I guess there policy is that they don’t need to clean anything when someone leaves??? So I was left with a stained floor, cigarettes on the porch, cat scratches all over my furniture. AND to top it off, I asked for a premium space and they did not put me in a premium space and said that they have no record of me ever asking for it. It continues… I am a student and due to covid, I had a lot of online classes/meeting. My downstairs neighbors who I had complained of 4 separate times to west run about their dogs who continually barked throughout the day and an owner who never picked up after them, but NOTHING was ever done. I also had to file a complaint as I would leave my porch door open and they would smoke on their porch, thus, it would go into my apartment. I had asked west run about the smoking policy and they stated you had to smoke 10 feet from the buildings.. clearly, this never got fixed and I just ended up keeping my porch door shut. If you ever have any complaint, It will NEVER get filed or taken care of. Be aware and read all of the forms they give you. West run is known for being “cheap,” but be aware because the way they do leases is by the school semester. So I moved out July 16th and they made me pay my FULL RENT for only living there for half the month of July. The animals in this complex were a very big deal as two times while I was walking to grab my mail, dogs (who were off leash), ran away from their owners and started to bark at me and tried to attack me. Both times, the owners had to chase after their dogs and grab them to try and get them to stop barking and jumping on me. If this doesn’t tell you to not live there, I don’t know what will.
Management and office staff absolutely do not care about you at all. It looks months for me to even sign a lease and they never return phone calls or voicemails. I specifically requested I not be placed with someone with a pet and they did it anyway. I told them about my anxiety with dogs and they could care less. I lived here for a whole year and suffered the whole time. Not to mention the amount of black mold I found in the dishwasher. AC unit was absolutely filthy. I wish I could give this review 0 stars. Seriously go anywhere else but here.

Don’t bother renting here. It’s cheap but that’s because it’s terrible. The staff is rude, passive aggressive, and incompetent at best. They try to get as much money from you as possible but ways you don’t expect. They tried to charge me for something that was waived in my lease plus charge me more monthly. I brought it up and was completely ignored. They didn’t bother to respond to me but because it’s against the law to charge me for something that doesn’t apply to the lease, they had to take it off of my bill.
Horrible management! The employees lied to me multiple times about the status of my lease and if I needed a co-signor or not. They voided my 6-month lease because I did not have a co-signor and when I got my co-signor they said they had no 6-month leases left. I later found out that you do not need an actual co-signor for any of their leases you just have to pay more fees. Avoid at all costs, employees and management have no idea what is going on.
The keys the give you are magnetic or something and don’t work I’ve slept in my car twice. Have black stuff on the bathroom vents, probably a form of mold.. not to mention on two occasions I’ve had random fuzzy green spots show on the carpet in several places, again probably some form of mold. This place is disgusting and poorly kept. Do not live here.
As a student, I needed internet for class and especially finals. However, the internet never worked accept for a rare day out of the month. Staff always told us to contact Single Digits which never helped. Terrible Internet and Terrible housing.
West Run screws you over in many ways. First off, they make you pay the full rent for the month of August, however, we were not allowed to move in until the 17th. Additionally, they will be kicking us out during finals week which is a major inconvenience. They will also sneak charges in by moving all payments to online which forces you into service that could be avoided if they still allowed personal checks.
West Run charges you for “12 equal installments” for your rent, although your lease is really only 11 months. So you’re paying for an extra month of rent when you are not living there. On top of them slyly coning you out of an extra month of rent and utilities, they’re very bad about maintenance requests. My shower and sink were clogged when I moved in, and the blinds don’t work and they were never fixed. It took them over two months to fix my dishwasher, after putting in several requests, when it stopped working and the only reason they came to fix it is because I created a new request saying it was leaking. They would never come when they said they would even after scheduling a time. I can’t have maintenance guys coming into my apartment when I am not home because of my dog, and they continually showed up unannounced.
Don’t please just don’t. The bus will become you’re biggest nightmare. If you’re prepared to spend over an hour to get downtown let alone evansdale then go ahead. But please just don’t. The hidden fees are insane. It’s over priced. And location is a nightmare !!
Don’t waste your money on flithy units and rude employees
When i first got in this place my electric was not even working and the heat plus the toilet.THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not happy. I honestly regret signing my lease here. I have now been without AC for over a month now. Maintence told us the fix would take, “two weeks tops.” No compensation has been offered by the leasing office whatsoever. Also, the ceiling forms bubbles and leaks, and the cabinets in my premium are those of the standard option. The garbage disposal occasionally pumps old food back up into the sink. So as I said before, I am not happy.
The staffing is VERY fake to your face, the definition of customer service voice. The office is ran by a lot of kids and you'll get several different answers. Maintenance used to be great but honestly they're not very qualified and now that they fired their best head of maintenance, they are extremely slow now. Your room will more than likely be filthy, and have a lot of minor things wrong such as toilet not flushing or your door doesn't lock. This place is super sketchy at night. Only half the pole lights work, they're known for cars to be broken into, someone's motorcycle was stolen and destroyed. Its cheap... and that's the quality.
On move in the living area of our apartment was not clean. Your AC/Heat is suppose to be included but almost always they will charge you for overages “to make up for last month”. Really just try to take advantage of college students when you move out with different fees. They also have giveaways if you write a review so most online reviews are bogus. I really don’t recommend living here.
I wish I could give 0 stars. It was awful to live there. On the day I moved in, my toilet did not work. It took them close to a week to fix it. I did not have working air conditioning or heat in my bedroom throughout the lease, despite putting in multiple work requests. The living room was full of repairs that were supposed to be painted over which never happened. And on the day my lease ended, they claimed I had not paid my last months rent, returned my keys (mailed my last months rent and the keys 2 weeks before they were due), and said that since I was living there past the lease expiration I would be charged $100 a day. (I moved out two months prior to my lease expiration). In all, they are charging me an extra 300 dollars for “late fees”. Would recommend anyone to not live here.
Apartment was disgusting moving in AND HAD FLEAS! Our building never actually locks. The bus is often not on schedule or doesn’t come at all. Electric is also crazy expensive even though we unplug and turn everything off. Overall, would not recommend. Nothing like the show room.
I'm sure I'm not the average resident at West Run. I actually moved here in August with my daughters. We have a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom apartment and so far we LOVE IT!!! Being on the 3rd floor has its challenges due to my health problems but I didn't mention that on my application either. Move in day was crazy but I have to mention Hannah in the office is unbelievable and deserves the credit I'm giving her. She went above and beyond to make myself and my girls feel welcome and to get all the paperwork and everything done so we could move in. Every time I have been in the office she is always a blessing to see. For the amount I'm paying for our apartment I couldn't ask for more. So if your thinking about moving to West Run, GO FOR IT!!! I haven't regretted it once.
West Run has a lot of amenities when it comes to the complex: pool, tanning, gym, home theatre, etc. However, the apartments themselves are just average. They are spacious and come furnished with the option to upgrade to better furniture and hardwood floors. However, the appliances are sub-par, and the the floors in the bathrooms and kitchen are outdated and hard to clean. They also charge you for "overages" that you shouldn't be charged for, and they often don't charge you until months later when you don't expect it. The only thing about charges and this apartment complex is that you are only responsible for paying for your room, regardless of whether or not it is a two-three-four bedroom.
