Property Ratings at Westchester Square
My roommate and I were shown a newly cleaned and updated unit, told that it wasn't our unit but it would look the exact same with cleanliness and new appliances. Signed our lease, got ignored by our leasing agent until we moved in. Got into our unit as it was disastrous. Carpet had layers of pet hair and human hair in every room, our windows have a film over them and one of them does not open, all of our cabinets in the kitchen are bowed down so anything we put n them has a risk of falling and breaking, the shelves in our fridge are being held together by duct tape that the PREVIOUS tenants did, our walls have a yellow tint and film from smokers, our sink drains and shower/tub drains had mold and so much hair in them from years and years of tenants, that it took 2 hours to boil/soak and clean them and yet it still hardly drains and they are still gross. One bedroom doorknob and the doorknob to access the water heater are broken, so my roommate has to put tape where the tongue is or she gets locked in, and we have yet to be able to open the water heater door. ETC ETC We were promised a pro-rated rent because we had to wait 2 weeks past when our lease started to move-in because they were supposed to deep clean the carpets, paint the walls, and fix everything that is broken, yet all they did was a light vacuuming of the carpet and left everything else. AND GUESS WHAT?! We never received our pro-rated rent and had to pay in full.
Required a 600$ deposit just to apply. Was told I was 100% applying for a ground floor apartment. After I applied was informed that there was no ground floor units available and they could only refund me 500$ because of the admin fees. So in short live somewhere else the customer service has been awful. I talked to one lady who knew what she was doing 'ashley' but the other people were awful So scummy
When i attempted to move out I was told I owed them $800 after my security deposit. I went in to the office to ask what for as I had cleaned my apartment top to bottom before moving out and was told the charges were AUTO GENERATED. I was also told $200 of that was from a stain on my carpet. I showed the property manager pictures I had taken when moving out asking her to show me what exactly required $800, which fortunately she decided to drop most of the charges including the carpet, but it's clear to me they are banking on you not disputing the charges and paying up. I even found it laughable I was auto charged for "dry wall repair" when I had personally repaired the small holes my TV mount above the fireplace had caused myself, they didn't have to do jack but still wanted me to pay.
Can't reach a live person for issues, online maintenance requests only that take FOREVER AND A DAY TO GET COMPLETED. Property grounds are not kept up, Lawn care services are horrible asxwell. My patio is overtaken with weeds.
We lived there for three years. The last year was awful. It takes maintenance a minimum of 2 months to get a request fulfilled and it's very rarely done right the first time. They left our front door unlocked twice. No one would answer the phone and we only really got responses through email in regards to us moving out. It's so much more trouble than it's worth.
Management is awful. Lived here for a few years and no maintenance requests get done. Left voicemails about getting a notice to move out because their website doesn't give you access to it. Called EVERY OTHER DAY and left a voice mails trying to get some form of contact so we can move out. Had to call 7 times while watching the leasing office while being able to see someone inside before the phone got picked up just to review attitude about having to help a customer god forbid. Had to get emails for managers that do not even work at the apartment complex just to get the notice to move out. Sent it back asking for someone to reach out and confirm that it was done correctly and to give me verification on when we are moving out. Well that was a month and a half ago and we never got any form of physical be call or email. Well the moving date is a week away from the date I sent them a month and a half ago and I just got an email back. Do not move into any Eevate living property it's the stupidest thing you could do
Poor management, trashy grounds, old units, lazy staff, you will have multiple things break. Ceilings fall in. Appliance break. A month or longer wait time to get things fixed
Living at Westchester Square has been an enjoyable experience. Staff has complied with all my reasonable handicap requests, and everything was completed quickly and efficiently. The several work orders that I have put in have been completed in a timely manner. Staff at all levels have been a pleasure to work with. I appreciate how Westchester Square has such a beautiful environment to live in and walk through. It has been a pleasure to live here for the past three years, and I look forward to continuing my living experience here for years to come.

Diane, we are so happy to read such positive comments about our staff. We'll make sure to forward this along to them. If we can help with anything in future, please reach out anytime!
I'll be looking for a different apartment as soon as my lease is up- not a fan of how this place is managed- maitnence has come into my apartment without notice or even letting me know they had been in. On another occasion I had an issue with my water heater- they fixed the water leaking from it but left my carpet completely soaked and now smells musty. Trash all over the place outside and have found dog poo on the carpet in the halls outside my apartment two different times. Their online system for rent payment is not user friendly- if you have auto pay and make a payment before rent is due it won't apply the credit you paid before rent was due. If you don't buy a garage be prepared to park at the other side of the complex- not nearly enough spaces and people constantly park in fire lanes or in handicapped spaces (or block in your driveway).

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about Westchester Square!
I have lived in both Westchester Village and Westchester Square for 10 years, I moved here in Westchester Square 8 years ago, I love the location and the space of the apartment, it's very quiet, and has great staff. Maintenance is TOP NOTCH, they handle any issues that arise very quickly and professionally. The cost is right in line with other apartments that are very similar. Love it here.

Hi, we are so happy to read such a great review about Westchester Square!
This is my third year leaving here and it has gotten progressively worse with each passing year. The first year there was different management and I was able to get things fixed and my calls answered. Since then, I have had maintenance men walk in on me as I was showering, no one is ever in the office, after two years my roommate still cannot pay the rent online and when she went to talk to them about it found out she wasn't on the lease even though we signed it together and had renewed it together! I have seen cockroaches here and the neighbors are loud. Once a dog pooped OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT DOOR and I am on the third floor. We will be leaving as soon as we can get out of the lease.

Hi, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. Please contact us at communications@elevateliving.com so we can work with you to make this right.
Pretty pricey considering the appliances are so old and outdated I feel like I have to call maintnence every week. Not very clean in the common areas, and there are loud neighbors
The worst apartments that I have ever lived in. All of the other residents seem to smoke which means you cannot keep your windows open on a nice summers day. If you have to live here I recommend getting a 3rd floor unit so you don't have to listen to your upstairs neighbors jumping up and down. Parking is by far the worst thing about this apartment complex. No one seems to respect other peoples property so be prepared to walk to your car in the morning with scratches and door dings. Again if you have to live here I would highly recommend purchasing a garage. Heather, the property manager, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. However the people that actually own the apartment complex, her bosses, are absolute thieves and only care about profits. What I mean by that if you sign a lease be prepared to stay in that apartment until the lease ends. They require a 30 day cancellation notice with a 2 month rent penalty, which about 75% of the time that means a 3 month penalty. They will not make any exceptions, even if you were in the hospital on the 1st of the month, to back date the 30 day cancellation notice so you wouldn't have to pay a 3 month penalty on a month which has 31 days in it. I cannot stress enough that this apartment complex, in fact all of Elevate Living, would be the worst apartment choice you will make.
My roommate and I were torn to find a new apartment. We couldn't make a decision but with my lease going up within a few weeks, we needed to find a new place. Westchester Square was our answer. It had everything we both wanted. Reasonable rent, lots of space including a dining room, separate baths, dishwasher, central heating, and washer/dryers in unit (full size ones too!) There's also a nice pool, fitness center, and sauna. Plus, we were very impressed with management. Very friendly, had their act together, in fact they were the only place (out of the 10 places we visited) to give us a folder of all the information we need to know. They even picked up trash in the parking lot during our tour, showing they cared about their apartment's upkeep. There are a few flaws, but no where is perfect. The apartment building themselves need some repair. They seem kind of outdated. I would not trust walking on the carpet barefoot, though there is a very nice cleaning lady and she does her job well. The appliance are pretty outdated too, but we were told they'll get upgraded once they begin to wear out. Parking is a NIGHTMARE! If you're not home by 7pm, good luck finding a parking spot near your building. Spots are available around the corner in a different lot, but it can be a hassle, especially in the dark, rain, and snow. People also make up spots to avoid the walk, causing a hazard. They park all along the corners, turing the lot into one lanes, and in walkways. It's a pet friendly apartment. This can either be a plus or negative. Our neighbor's dogs can be extremely loud and annoying, but the other apartment dogs are well behaved. I plan on getting a cat someday and the deposit seems pretty fair compared to other places. Overall, we're happy with our new home.
i visited the apartments and i liked them. they looked clean and i like that they had furniture already in them.
