Property Ratings at Weston Point Apartments
After seeing reviews with similar feedback I feel the need to share my experience during my time at Weston Point to for-warn others with pets. I rented an 1100 sq ft two bedroom apartment for 10 months. I travel extensively and this being a second home was there less than 40 days during this entire lease term. Two months after I moved out I received a notice from the apartment manager stating I owed $2,000 to replace the entirety of carpet in the apartment. It was noted by the office staff that they brought in 3rd party contractors to evaluate carpet with black light and pull back carpet. In the dining and living area they found pet stains on the underside of the carpet. There was zero signs of any defects from the carpet surface. The pet which was only there for 2 months at the beginning of the lease was potty trained and was walked throughout the day. There were two months following my move out date before the carpet eval occurred at which time these damages could have occurred. There is no way for either of us to prove how or when the damage occurred. I reasonably requested they adjust the fee to clean or replace the carpet in the affected area which would have easily been half the charge. They were unwilling to accommodate any requests to limit the costs of repairs or to utilize my pet fees against the balance due. The manager referred to fair housing laws to try and justify their unreasonable claim. As a company they have set this unfair standard and it reflects poorly on unsuspecting renters as funds I supplied are not being properly allocated. As I reflected on this very frustrating situation I recalled the staff that walked me through my apartment saying the company tries to replace carpet in between each tenant. At the moment it seemed like new carpet was a nice feature but now I see this has been done at others expense which was not disclosed until move out and in my opinion deceitful. Other potential residents with pets should know how these funds are used and how they poorly handle move outs. If you don’t own pets and have read this far I would also warn you that the apartments need to be updated badly. Not just aesthetically but to improve energy efficiency especially during the winter. The pest control was very poor (lots of spiders even in my dryer) and the daily overflowing trash situation at the dumpsters was unsanitary and downright disgusting.
Apartment is fine. You have amenities, but they are nothing special, especially for the area and you're mostly just paying for location. My biggest problem is the leasing office. Not friendly or approachable. They charged me astronomical move out fees after living there for nearly four years. They say they replace the carpet in between tenants yet I was charged with a stain removal fee. Was also charged a fee because my fire alarm detector was not attached to the ceiling but rather sitting on the counter because the battery was dead. Thought I was saving someone the hassle of having to get on a ladder, but I guess not. Doesn't make sense to me. They deliver your fee charges after you move out by mail and then if it's not paid within 30 days of when they sent it, it gets sent to collections without warning. Never mind that you don't know what they are going to charge you (for me it was $500) and they give you 30 days to pay in full. They say that the time frame is industry standard, but that's absolutely ridiculous and have never had any other leasing office be that quick to screw over previous loyal and long term tenants and I've been a renter for 10 years. You can't keep anything on the patio you pay for. Place is quiet and well kept because maintenance guys are awesome and super friendly. Parking is a problem unless you pay for a garage space. There are tons of apartments in the area- shop around if you're worried about ambiguous move out costs.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we appreciate the feedback, we're disappointed that your living experience has been less-than-satisfactory. We value our residents, and we apologize for the less-than-satisfactory experience with our team. Please call the office at (913) 851-4200 so that we can discuss your concerns directly.
This feels more like Prison apartments. These guys have a problem with everything. I am apparently not allowed to keep anything in my patio, even though I am paying rent for the full apartment. The storage space that they provide is extremely small, can only fit like 2 boxes. The other day I had a broom on my patio, which I used to clean the patio floor with. It was kept in the farthest corner, hardly even visible. They also didn't allow that. Not sure why they provide patio in the first place. There's absolutely no freedom here. I have lived in 3 other communities in the same city and this is the first community to be so hell bent on things that are so small. I moved here because location-wise it's convenient. But planning to move back to the previous community I was living at. These guys are not at all friendly. Would definitely not recommend.

Because of the lies which management keeps telling and the tenants are stuck until they complete the lease

I've lived a number of places around Kansas City, and Weston Point has been my favorite by far. My apartment was spacious, clean and felt brand new - the high ceilings make the space feel especially open! The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and I felt safe even walking around at night. The pool area is beautiful in the summer. The office staff is the most kind, welcoming and helpful staff I've ever experienced at an apartment complex. I found maintenance to be super responsive whenever I had an issue. I also loved how close it was to Prairiefire - so many awesome shops and restaurants within a few minutes! I loved this complex and was sad to leave, my only reason being the dog breed restrictions - otherwise would have stayed here long term.

Thank you, Meredith, for detailing your experience at Weston Point. It makes our day to read that you love everything our community has to offer. If you ever have any additional feedback to share, feel free to give us a call. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
They have a nice clubhouse and show a nice model but they don't show your actual place until the day you move in. After signing pages and pages of rental contract I found myself living in a cold small basement. Cheap carpet and patch holes all over the walls. The deposit is cheap but when you leave they keep it and charge you ALOT more. Don't rent here!
Moved in almost a year ago after a disastrous 6 month apartment hunt. At the time I was excited about moving in as this place was semi affordable for the area and close to work and all the places I like to shop and eat at, but, alas it slowly has been going sour since then. All the leasing agents who were nice have left and they are remodeling the whole complex. I luckily don't have to move...yet but I know it will probably come next year. The management company, which I don't think is local, is try to compete with the nicer newer apartments in the area. Not going to happen especially with the shoddy work in mine. Carpet bubbles, stove and dryer with no lights or ability to have lights inside - can we say CHEAP - and shoddy workmanship- the baseboard in my kitchen looks like a 5 year old cut it and put it on -apparently right angles were not taught that day. I will stay till they try to remodel my 2 year old remodeled apartment then I will start looking again. Sad, had such high hopes but management is more concerned about getting you out or re upping your lease because they know it's expensive to move.
Love my apartment! Cannot ask for a better location - quiet, even though next to a busy street. Close to schools, dining, shopping, entertainment, work, and highways. Friendly and courteous staff and maintenance crew.
