Property Ratings at Westown at Wilson
Where do I even begin….. to start, one of the buildings had a fire in March 2022. The fire alarms never went off and management did not reassure/ease the rest of the community or send out any communications regarding this fire for OVER A WEEK. Can you imagine living somewhere where your community members have their home destroyed and your property manager sends out no emails for 1 week… (as of June 2023 Westown management has still not shared the details of the cause of the fire…. great sign of the level of transparency you can expect living here). When I notified the property manager that I would not be resigning she immediately responded “so why are you moving out” with a harsh aggressive/accusatory attitude and response. When I stated that I was moving out of state she stated “okay fine”. I assume she responded with such a harsh tone because rent has been increasing $190 every year and so many residents are leaving because the cost is ridiculous. Apartments are nice but feature energy saving water faucets that easily clog up. You can easily find CHEAPER apartments downtown with the same amenities. The gym here is small and the pool is already showing wear and tear after 3 years.

We are happy to hear you love calling Westown HOME. And love that you are loving the amenities as well. Thanks, Westown Team
The people that work in the office are very nonchalant about our living situations. I have had multiple situations where I go in need of assistance with an issue and they tell me that there’s nothing they can do.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review of Westown at Wilson Apartment Homes! We love to hear about it when our staff goes the extra mile for a resident. We appreciate you taking the time to give them a shout-out!
I’ve had major issues with management here for the last year, specifically many tenants report having mail sent back or held without permission (good luck getting anything if it’s after office hours). The buildings also haven’t been inspected for fire properly despite tenants raising concerns over gas smells and overheated hallways and the management frequently sends out passive aggressive emails. One of the buildings recently lit on fire and the fire alarms didn’t even trip properly, residents woke up because others set off car alarms to warn them. The building is destroyed and many are without homes. Location and neighbors are great, some staff and matinence have been fine if not great but upper management has been a point of stress for many tenants.

Thank you for taking the time to outline your concerns. We regret that your stay at Westown at Wilson Apartment Homes hasn't been reflective of the carefree, comfortable experience we strive to cultivate for our residents. From your review, we see that you have quite a few concerns pertaining to our community's overall conditions and our customer service, among other issues; we're sorry for that. We hope that you'll stop by the office so that we may have an opportunity to address the specifics of your situation and regain your confidence. Thank you.
I cannot over emphasize how much I despise this place. -Units are overly expensive give location, size of unit, and quality. -The units were built quickly and cheaply—and it shows! Quiet living left the unit with more wear and tear, in one year, than any apartment I have lived in. -The property manager speeds through the interior roads and parking lots well over suggested speed limits in a loud, lifted truck. -I noticed numerous vehicles being ticketed for trivial things, such as being parked with a flat tire for one day.

Hello thank you for your review. We just wanted to take a min and respond to some of your concerns. If you recently moved out that does mean that you where paying well below the market rent. Our rental rates that we currently have are set in place by a new system that we have that pulls all our comps rates and gives us our rates that based on our comps so we are currently in line with all our comps. Our property was built with top of the line stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops and top of the line fixture. Wear and tear does come from the residents living in the unit so if your unit had wear and tear this is due to you living in the unit. Also we do know that our manager does not speed through the complex. In regards to the cars being ticket everyone must have a pass to park by the buildings and all guest must park in guest parking at all times, our lease does state that all cars parked on our property must be in operable condition so if a car has a flat tire it will get a sticker letting them know it must be fixed according to the lease they signed. As always you can call the office and speak with our manager and she will address your concerns. Have a great day.
I can't begin to express how happy we are at Westown at Wilson. We've been here since January, so nearly 5 months now, but it feels like so much longer because of how at home and comfortable we feel here. Not only is the complex SO clean and inviting, and the apartments themselves are BEAUTIFUL, but everyone here is so awesome. I know everyone has heard horror stories (and experienced them) of management at apartment complexes being absolutely awful - from being impossible to get in touch with to being rude and uninviting etc. Let me tell you - management here is a DREAM and nothing like anything we've ever experienced. Rachel and Toni have been nothing but absolutely wonderful since we first toured the apartments last year. They answered any questions we had (no matter how small and seemingly silly) in such a timely manner and STILL DO now that we're here. Maintenance is also amazing - quick to get over to our unit if we have any issues (which there aren't many, by the way... all new appliances!) and they've been nothing but friendly. We get a lot of packages delivered and there were some issues with delivery companies not following the instructions to bring the packages to the main office locker room, and Rachel went to bat for us and took care of the issue professionally and made us feel so much better about the safety of our parcels. We recently got a puppy and we've been bringing him to meet and get socialized with the office dog, Maggie. She's SUCH a sweetie and we look forward to seeing her whenever we stop in, along with Rachel and Toni! It really feels like a family here. Upon moving in, you're invited to a private facebook group to keep in contact with others in the community and stay up to date with anything and everything. We've met some awesome people! For the first month or so, we kept telling ourselves "Ok... where's the catch? This place is too good to be true..." -- I can honestly say, 5 months later, I've yet to find any catch. If you're debating on calling Westown home, I'm telling you - it's worth it! :) We couldn't be happier!

The apartments are located near Meijer for shopping, restaurants, etc. and they're only like 15 minutes from downtown GR. The workers are super friendly too. Highly recommended.

We’ve been here almost 2 months now, and it’s been awesome. Very pet friendly, but always super clean. The office is always super responsive to any questions or needs. Maintenance has also been very fast. Overall it hasn’t been too noisy either. Would definitely recommend!

If you have a pet and looking for a new place to live this is definitely the place for you. My puppy has become very sociable from the daily interactions with all of the friendly pets here. He loves the dog park which is super convenient for us to burn all of his energy too. The complex is not loud at night so it is easy for him to sleep through the night without distraction.

I've only been here for a few weeks but I have nothing but great things to say about this complex. Friendly staff, maintenance is responsive, pet-friendly, clean complexes, and cameras are on-site. I feel super safe living here and my puppy loves it!

Thank you for taking the time to share some kind words about our community and team members! We are so happy to have you as our neighbor!
I've visited a ton of apartment communities, and this one by far has the best feel, quality, features, staff, etc. The location is sweet. Close to downtown GR but not as congested as the city.

Hello! Thanks for the 5 stars. We appreciate you taking the time to share some kind words about our community and team members!
Aggressive dogs - particularly the dog in the clubhouse. My dog was attacked. Noisy - had to call the police on numerous occasions. Management is unresponsive and not helpful. Smells like pot. Generally, unfriendly staff and unpleasant.

We're sorry you feel this way, and we will look into your concerns. Resident happiness is our top priority. We have several comments from people who love our team, our quiet community, and their neighbors, so I can assure you this isn't the typical Westown experience. We do not tolerate staff rudeness, and in fact, we constantly hear how great our team is doing from our residents. We're so sorry about your dog, and we sincerely hope he/she is ok... We are one of the most pet-friendly communities around, and we've never heard of any issues with any resident pets. We have some strict dog policies in place that help to prevent this kind of thing, and we didn't hear of any specific injuries to your pet or we would've been happy to provide assistance. If you would like to discuss your concerns further or if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out, we are here to help. The Westown Team
I was the first tenant to move into building 201! I have a great view and love the fact that shopping is close by!! The staff is great, easy to work with and the apartments are very comfortable and one of the great things I like about this place is that every apartment has their own Washer and Dryer!!! It's furnished with a dishwasher, stove, microwave, refrigerator, walk-in closets and lots of cabinets!! Love the space!! They even have their own maintenance man on sight!!
