Property Ratings at Gulf Cove Apartments
I have lived here for about 4 years now. When I first moved in the management was horrible, the maintenance was just one guy who really don’t know what he was doing, my husband ended up having to fix everything after him but since 2020 we have had a new manager lady who is very professional and does her best whenever something is wrong, she also got new maintenance men who know what there doing. I had always had issues with my a/c unit during the summer since I moved in. The other lady did nothing an told me it was just because the unit was old. But when Meagen took over she got not only my apartment but several others brand new a/c units and now it works great which has also made my electric bill goe at down. My kitchen use to be very outdated but the new company had everything completely redone to not only my apartment but several others as well and now my kitchen and bathroom looks amazing. I actually enjoy cooking in my kitchen now. Also when I first moved in we had problems with bugs in the kitchen but now I have not seen one bug crawling around. I absolutely love it here especially since all the upgrades, not just in the apartment but outside as well. Definitely worth it.
My AC was broken from the time I moved in until right before the summer was over and that’s when I found out I had an AC from the 1970s!!!! Then bugs kept getting into my apartment no matter how many times pest control came in to fix it. I made very few complaints and was very patient and nice and was walked all over. Do not rent here!
Gulf Cove seems like a very lovely place until you realise how rude the leasing office people are.. I was told today that I am not going to be allowed to renew my lease to my apartment I lease from them and pay my rent on time for, never have issues with me, because I complained months ago about my flimsy paper-like front door. They then continued today to try to use it like it was just my safety concern like no other single mother of two in their right mind wouldn’t be upset by this especially when my neighbour across the hall has a hard metal sturdy door. I have offered to let it come out of my deposit but this is the route they chose. I do not recommend this place at all. Bugs always get into my home from the unsecured front door. And I never complained I just waited and today I’m hit with this.
My boyfriend and I lived here for about 7 months. The good: The staff were reasonably friendly. The pools were usually clean. The apartments are a decent size. The bad: There was like a 1 inch gap under our front door so our apartment had bugs ALL THE TIME. When my grandma brought the bugs up while helping me move in, the woman in leasing said “this is Florida, there are going to be bugs.” These apartments are cheap but not cheap enough for what you get. We lived on the second floor and the stairs and the hand rail felt so unstable. The maintenance looks for quick fixes rather than fully fixing the problem. We had a clog in our AC at one point. It took maintenance 2 days to get there and he literally put his mouth to the clog tube and blew in order to clear the clog which was pretty gross. We also had a leak in our sealing that started creating a hole. They didn’t fix the leak, they just kept filling the hole. There’s no in unit laundry and you have to pay to use the laundry on site. Lastly, when we moved in, the place was unclean with dead bugs in it. I knew we wouldn’t stay long so we treated the apartment VERY well and we cleaned it spotless when we left. They still charged us $500 I believe for replacing the carpet due to a stain, which I feel is ridiculous considering our living conditions while we were there. Looking back, I wish we’d had more time to find a different apartment. The price may seem good, but it wasn’t worth the constant AC issues, being covered in bug bites, and just feeling unclean all the time.
I really enjoyed living here from the time I first came to look at the property to even my last day. The staff in the front office really do everything they can to help you out. It isn't the absolute newest apartment complex but it is homey, quite, renovated, beautiful and in a great location. I would and still recommend this place to anyone I know looking in the area. Loved it!
I have had an ok experience with the apartments. Residents seem to keep to themselves for the most part and the pools almost never have anyone in them. The apartments themselves are on the smaller side. The day we moved in there were roaches everywhere (I have never had them before this), and it took them several weeks to get rid of them. Management is lack-luster and does not seem to really care about much except making sure they get their money. They are slow with repairs and leave problems if you do not stay on them about it. When they do 'fix' the issue it is half way and the maintenance people will do anything they can to get out of doing work. The location is on 98 and terrible to get to during high traffic times (which seems to be always). If there were not so many things going wrong in the apartment and I could just pay my rent and not be bothered it wouldn't be a bad place to live.
