Property Ratings at Whispering Sands
I wish I can put 0 stars! I don’t even know where to begin with how bad this place is they are having us live in a home with black mold and leaking roofs and running toilets.
I had the pleasure of living at Whispering Sands for several years, and had a purely wonderful experience with this apartment community. From the very first minute I introduced myself and was warmly greeted as applicant, to the moment I moved and drove away years later and every day inbetween as a resident, I was treated with authentic kindness, thoughtfulness, respect, and the constant feeling that I was valued as a tenant. The professional and capable management and staff who maintain this community work seamlessly and diligently as a collective unit in both the upkeep and improvement of this complex, and indeed are highly proactive in all facets of running this community. The maintenance personnel respond quickly and effectively to remedy any issue within individual apartments or grounds needing repair. The friendly office staff members are always pleasant to interact with; they are easily approachable and are noticeably interested and invested in listening to their tenants. Every interaction I had with the office and maintenance staff was a pleasure. It is always true that the environmental and functional nature of any living community or office is a direct reflection of its manager; this is true of Whispering Sands as well. The community manager, Marlean is a deeply capable, intelligent and talented professional and a remarkably kind person. The fluidity of just how well this community is managed is owed entirely to her professionalism and utmost competency. Marlean is well educated, highly articulate and a naturally gifted and skilled manager and community leader. Her unfailing dedication to elevating Whispering Sands was reflected in every aspect of my experience there; she is a true credit to her role as supervisor and to the profession of apartment management as a whole. I was beyond impressed by the caliber of her professionalism and character. These high standards of competency are easily discernible, and by her leadership these standards have clearly filtered down throughout the entire staff as well. I would recomend this living community across the board. This is a very well run apartment community and embodies all the good aspects associated with a nice larger community - the grounds are well-kept and clean, the units are thoughtfully designed and the atmosphere has a friendly, open feel. Most importantly, the people who run this community are what engenders the unique and wonderful environment which I experienced there. :) John V.
Management is nice and respond fast to requests. On-site Maintance
So, the apartments are on the older side. Everything is electric and heating is via baseboard radiant heaters. Water is portioned and added to rent. Renter pays electric. Laundry facilities are decent (available 24/7), machines are not coin-operated. You need to buy and reload a card (only available during business hours). Fitness room is only available during office hours. Gated community. No problems with neighbors. Fairly quiet neighborhood, given the location. Maintenance is friendly, helpful, and efficient. Office manager is wonderful, the other staff are fairly pleasant. Our unit had new flooring, dishwasher, and fridge when we moved in but the stove is antiquated. 2 bed/2 bath: bedrooms and closets are nice sized. Bathroom is narrow and feels miniaturized. Pet-friendly community with responsible pet owners.
You do not want to live here. The security is a joke, there is only one person that works in the office that wants to help you. When you get a neighbor that is not all there and threatens people they don't do anything about it but let you do something small and your out. The same rules that are supposed to apply to everyone don't.
The area is somewhat scary to be in as gunshots are heard frequently. It is on central not on western skies drive. The community itself has had some issues but it feels fairly safe. Unfortunately, I have had one break in attempt. The air conditioning/swamp coolers gets turned off during the winter when we pay for electricity and there have been some hot days. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Rooms themselves are fairly nice, but appliances are outdated. The closet is large and nice to have. The community washer and dryers have been frequently broken and the room is a mess. Overall it is an okay place to live where you get what you pay for, but after our lease we are moving to a better area.
Friendly staff they go above an beyond for us, layout of the 2 bedroom apartment is awesome! Safe, private, and no issues with neighbors! If any issues with apartment then maintenance will come resolve quick!
The apartment complex is ok. The staff is really nice though.
When my wife and I said we couldn't move in until the end of a month, management worked with us to find a place available then. Every issue that's come up -- the power still being in the previous tenant's name, the bathtub not draining, the stove fan not working -- has been fixed within days instead of the weeks we'd wait at our previous place. Beyond that, the complex feels safe and homey, our neighbors are friendly, the apartment itself is large enough and obviously taken care of, and the walls are thick enough that despite several nearby residents asking if we've ever heard them, we have yet to be bothered by a sound. Even with children enjoying the last days of summer vacation, we aren't bothered by the sounds of them. Although we haven't been here long, we enjoy it greatly and hope to stay here for a long time.
