A quiet residential area, the Westwood neighborhood can be found northwest of the city center by three miles. Because it sits close to US Highway 131 and 43, the community provides a convenient neighborhood to enjoy daily life while remaining close to the city and within easy distance of Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan. Because Kalamazoo sits halfway between Chicago and Detroit, reaching those larger cities via Interstate 94 continues to be easy.
One of the things Kalamazoo has become nationally known for, the Kalamazoo Promise provides a four-year scholarship for all graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools who have spent at least their high school years in the school system. In addition to the community college, Western Michigan University and the private Kalamazoo College call the city home. There are affordable rentals ranging from single-family homes to modern apartments.

Property Ratings at Whitehall Apartments
I've lived there for 3 years and its honestly one of the best places I've lived at so far. The landlord is such a great person professionally and personally. Extremely flexible and understanding, highly recommended to work with. The only con for this place is, if you live in the "non-renovated" apts you might have minor complications due to the building being older(made in the 60s). Otherwise, these are highly recommended...
Bed bugs notification on move in day and floods for a life times ....old pipes

I just moved in a few days ago. The apartments are very spacious and I don't socialize much but my neighbors were nice enough to help my sister and I move bigger furniture. They seemed very kind. What really had me set on the place was the space and Lisa (the first management I spoke to) she is very nice and takes her job serious. Afterwards I met Jennifer who is also a great management team. I feel clicking with them isnt the most important part of my apartment search but it ended up playing a huge role. Knowing my management is serious about their jobs made me feel more secure in choosing this apartment. I love the size for the price and it's not in the ghetto. I feel safe coming home at 2am. Overall I LOVE my new home.
My husband and I have lived here for almost 6 years. We love it. Lisa the Property manager and Randy the maintenance manager are both why we have renewed as much as we have. They take care of us and my dogs both love them bunches. Thank you.
I currently live at Whitehall and I love it! Though it is a little old, the maintenance is great and the office staff is extremely friendly. I have never had a bug problem, though those reviews did scare me before I moved. I learned that during those reviews the property was under different management, but it isn’t an issue now! I love it and I plan to stay the whole time I’m in college. It’s affordable and nice!!
Roaches, bed bugs, old everything! Upstairs shower leaked into my bathroom before. Manager is a bit much for these rinky dink apts. ( a.k.a : I dont like her) This move was a desperate move, but if had known all of this i would have jus stayed at my sister's a few more weeks until something better came along. Its miserable. If you have standards they will be crushed! I'm moving today! After 8 months of hard time im free. Shake every item of clothing so you dont take bugs with you to your next spot. ?

We are sorry to hear that your stay at Whitehall was less than satisfactory. I would love to discuss this further if you would send an email to a.wiltzer@pmapts.com. In our quest to provide excellent customer service and apartments to our renters, any feedback you would provide would be appreciated. Thank you, Adrienne Area Director, Whitehall Apartments
Do not move in. Have been here 2 months and there has been cockroaches since day one and now there is a bedbugs and roach infestation. I received less than a 24 hour notice prior to treatment for bed bug with lots of misinformation and the last time they were supposed to do a roach treatment they never came to spray even though i has a note on my door telling me the treatment would be going through my apartment and I even talked to management before Orkin left and they were working on another building. I’ve had to board my pet for no reason and waste that money since there was no treatment done to my apartment. What was promised to me that would be replaced when I signed the lease has not been replaced and they told me it’s fine and doesn’t need maintenance. The one thing maintenance did “fix” was screwing in a fan cover into crumbling drywall which fell down the next day even though there was a wood part that it could have been screwed into. There are also multiple holes in the walls which I have requested to be fixed multiple times since day one and Orkin says the treatment can’t be guaranteed then so I can’t see these infestations going away.
This is the worst apartment I have ever been in. Huge Roach infestation problem in all apartment sections. Management was rude and never got the problem solved. I am actually taking them to court for several health hazzards. Plumbing is old and needs to be updated. Sinks are very old and almost plastic like. Dishwasher plumbing is connected to the garbage disposal. Maintiance neglects problems and is rude.
Despite my concerns that this apartment complex does not have central air, I decided to live here because I did like the apartment units and I was assured we could have AC units installed in the window in the summers and that the pool would be available to cool off on hot days. So far this summer, the apartment complex has not installed my AC unit despite having put in the maintenance request weeks ago and, despite memorial day having past, the pool is not open for use. I have discussed both issues with the office management and was told that both my AC being installed and the pool being opened will not be occurring in the foreseeable future. Why don't I install the AC unit myself you ask? I was told that in no situation am I allowed to install my AC unit myself. The apartment consistently becomes between 5 and 10 degrees hotter than outside because those nice large glass doors really just cause a green house effect even with keeping curtains closed and using fans to try to push out hot air. This makes the apartment unusable on hot summer evenings unless you want to cook your dinner in 95 degree temperatures over a stove that is also kicking out large amounts of heat. And sleeping has become a sweaty nightmare. *Also a disclosure: being on a long wait list is not their excuse as to why my AC unit hasn't been installed. If you want to avoid boiling to death in an unusable apartment in the summer time and want to live in a place where the management actually fulfills their duty as a landlord DO NOT LIVE HERE!
