Property Ratings at Whitney Uptown
I want to start by saying that my experience at Whitney Uptown was absolutely fine while Lincoln Apartments was the Property Management group. When Avenue 5 came in mid-way through my lease, they made life incredibly more difficult. Elevators constantly not working, flooded staircases, fire alarms going off at random hours of the night, lack of parking validation codes for guests in a crowded Uptown neighborhood. The list goes on and on. What made me the most upset, was when Avenue 5 came in and completely re-coded the key sensors in order to use their own fobs. The problem was that the guest key fobs that I purchased at the beginning of my lease for friends and family to use (especially in case of emergency), were suddenly inactive. When I asked if I could substitute my old extra key fobs for new ones, the front desk told me that "it's not our problem" and that I was out the money that I had JUST spent on the guest fobs. They wouldn't even reimburse me! I contacted Avenue 5 corporate twice, and was ignored. Just a classless company overall. To top it off, early one morning at 7am there was serious inclement weather in the Dallas area, including a tornado warning, hail, and 70 mph winds. Our power flickered off for a brief moment and then came back on. In that second without power, someone got stuck in the elevator. The other people in the lobby with me heard the person stuck and called the fire department to help get that resident out. The whole time, there wasn't an Avenue 5 employee OR any of the 24 hour security officers that Avenue 5 loves to talk about. Simply put, Avenue 5 couldn't care less about you. If they ever sell Whitney Uptown, it's a great place to live. But until then, stay FAR, FAR away!!!
I have had a great experience overall as a resident here. The staff is very nice and wants to help the residents. The rooms are very light and spacious. Maintenance is very quick in fixing issues. Amenities are always in good condition.
Apartment building looks nice and is well kept. Maintenance staff is great and timely when I need something fixed. Some leasing office agents are very nice and responsive and done ignore my requests.
Love this apartment complex so much! Everyone is so friendly, I feel super safe, and any request gets taken care of quickly. Will definitely be reneweing!
I have loved my apartment and surrounding area in uptown. There is so much to walk to and always something fun going on in the area. Whitney Uptown specifically has been amazing with packages, parking, amenities, and all of the little things that make your life comfortable.
The staff is amazing always willing to help, at anytime! The view are amazing. The renovation add so much character to uptown Whitney The residents are always polite! I rate the quality of living here a 10 .
Maintenance and leasing staff are the best! Couldn't ask for a better location to live in. Building comes with some of the problems inherent to older buildings but has a lot of charm and character that you won't find many other places.
Brittany has been a great leasing agent and has done everything she can to make my move-in smooth. If you need any maintenance work, they are there by the next day and will help fix your problem.
I have loved living at Whitney Uptown! The location is unmatched; walkable, close to so many shops, and easy access to Katy trail, the amenities are great and always clean, and our home is so cozy!
The management is the absolute best. It is rare to have management where you feel that they actually care about helping you, but they have been amazing. Maintenance is also so friendly and fast in fixing any work orders.
Living at Whitney has been a dream. Moving in is challenging with using the elevators but ultimately once you’re in, it’s golden! The views are beautiful. One of my favorite features is the trash chute so there’s no need to walk extra trash down to the dumpsters! Very pet friendly. If the noise of nightlife bothers you, I wouldn’t consider this building. I enjoy the sounds of hustle. I have zero needs to live elsewhere!
It’s a nice place to live. There’s plenty of food and entertainment in the surrounding areas. Staff is friendly and responsive. We’ve never had an incidents in the year we have lived here. I enjoy the Whitney and would recommend to anyone seeking a friendly place to live.
Great community and attentive employees. I feel very comfortable and safe at all times. There were some updates to my apartment that Whitney promised to handle. (Update and replace basic items). Besides that, great.
This summer has really made me question wanting to live at Whitney. The pool area has no umbrellas or shade available, what so ever. This is unacceptable in the Texas heat. Not only that, but the pools are always warm and not refreshing or cool at all. This makes it impossible to enjoy the sun deck with no relief or enjoyment of swimming. In addition, the elevators are often VERY slow or are crowded when available.
it's a nice place with a great view from the window. Managers and neighbors are polite and friendly. This complex loves pets. It's always clean and smells good here. administrators quickly resolve issues.
Everything is good, except that I was not told that my windows are not sound proof at all and I can hear everything that goes on in the near establishments at 2 AM
This is a really great community! I love the surrounding area and the management here is great. The view from our apartment is beautiful, and the gym and pool are great amenities.
Great area and modern apartment. Can easily walk to Mi Cocina, West Village, or the Katy Trail. Nice wood floors and spacious two bedrooms. I would give it five stars, but the elevators are unreliable.
Love the location and unit. Really nice gym and pool area. Only complaint are the slow elevators but that’s to be expected from most apartment complexes.
Building is constantly going through remodelling. But I guess I can take that as a good sign for progress. But it is very peaceful and I love the location.
Whitney Apartments high-rise Tower is an excellent place to live, with top-notch security that provides residents with peace of mind. The security measures are impressive, including the latest technology that ensures only authorized individuals have access to the building. The fobs are unique, preventing duplication, and each guest is only allowed one, ensuring that no unauthorized visitors gain entry. The building is home to many police officers, which adds an extra layer of security, and I've noticed several teachers living here as well, making for interesting conversations. Overall, Whitney Apartments is a great place to call home.
Building looks nice. Staff is helpful and the maintenance team is punctual. Amenities are nice. My only complaint is the windows. The breeze blows right through them.
We have had a great experience living here thus far. Great management, great team of maintenance workers and lovely community. Everyone is kind and the community is quiet.
The apartment is fresh, renovated. The administrators are kind and responsive. Parties are held in this complex, and letters are sent in advance to the post office. But there are also disadvantages: it was cold here in winter. The apartments are not ready for this, and the air conditioning did not save. Also, cockroaches have already been observed several times in the kitchen and bathroom.
Great location and community. The staff is friendly and always helpful. I would recommend the Whitney to anyone is looking for a great location that is safe and fun.
The move in process was really easy and the management team was great to work with! There were a few issues with my apartment in the first couple of weeks after moving in, but maintenance responded quickly and fixed all the issues.
Great location and apartment. Insulation is nonexistent, but outside of this and a few elevator issues it has been great. I like the resident events a lot.
Overpriced for age, low quality renovations, construction activity closing amenities, low quality of windows (dirty and single paned). Poorly maintained Elevators.
Property Manager at Whitney Uptown, Responded To This Review
Hi! I would love a chance to speak to you and chat about the issues that you are having in your apartment home. Is there a time and day that I can give you a call? Thank you! Whitney Uptown Management
Lincoln and their staff are well trained, compassionate and respond accordingly. Loved it when management changed hands.
I would recommend it if they are not looking for a super nice place, I like the convenient location and easy visitor parking.
This service was the best I've had, it seems that this management is better than the last one. Unless the tenants will not be allowed to renew their lease when the current one ends as I have heard. Thus, the reason for a "5" rating. If this is not true, than a "10" will work.
Price is great, staff is friendly, but renovations just started and supposed to occur for at least 12 months, both garage, apartment, and building next door. Very loud & working from home is very hard with all the jack hammering 8am-5pm.
I would recommend this apartment community because of the location, friendly staff, and value. However pricing is increasing at a rate that it is getting more difficult to recommend based on value.
Office Staff - they are professional but lack follow up and caring.
Building is falling apart, management is a complete joke….wouldn’t hire the property manager to run a lemonade stand, seriously. This place is a pile of bricks (with an awful staff) in the middle of a great neighborhood, surrounded by much nicer apartments in same price range. Just don’t even bother with this place.
The location is great and the rent is not expensive as some others in the neighborhood.
Gables office staff was not customer service oriented. They were immediately defensive about any concerns from stolen bikes to broken elevators.
Although the location and the windows are what sold me on this apartment initially, the building itself is very old and everything breaks or needs to be fixed very often (lights, shower, AC, washer/dryer, cupboards, locks) and I don't think these many repairs are common for a 1.5 yr lease.
Location is great, but building is old and needs updating.
specific property is absolutely horrendous to deal with. The people who work in the front office are rude, immature, and brash. I have had continued plumbing issues and when my sink overflowed with sewage back up because they (property managers not the specific maintenance people) didn't bring a plumber out until 12+ hours after I submitted an emergency maintenance request for I was told be the leasing agent "It isn't the worst I have seen". The way in which they handle anything is disrespectful, unprofessional, and insulting. I would not recommend living at this property to anyone. The only good thing I have to say is the specific maintenance workers are kind and as helpful as they can be though they don't get the support they need (ex. my plumbing issues) .

Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We appreciate your warm comments for our hardworking maintenance team, but we are surprised by your other comments. We take great pride in taking care of our community, and, based on your description, your experience has not reflected that. At your convenience, please contact us at feedback@gables.com so that we can speak to you more in-depth about any concerns you have about our team and any maintenance issues. We look forward to speaking with you and renewing your confidence in us.
I lived at Gables Uptown Tower for 1 yr and fortunately just moved out! The management has been changed and now they are the worst management ever. The apartment is smoke-free. But the management do nothing about it. You should figure out who is smoking in the community. Ridiculous! If something delivered to your incorrectly? They ask you to move to right place or their office. Even they are furnitures! You never know if you are going to live there just 3 or 6 months. But if 1yr? YOU WILL WANT TO MOVE OUT ASAP.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret if you've had any unpleasant interactions with a member of our team. We'd like to address this issue and would appreciate an opportunity to discuss your comments about our responsiveness and customer service. At your convenience, please contact us at uptowntower@gables.com. We look forward to a productive conversation.
I spent two years in the building decided it was time to leave. Something that really bothered us was that there was no upkeep with the building, the area lacked security, and the office staff seemed to either be new or not at the office. They kept raising the price of apartments, even though others around Uptown were more up to date, and were still lower than Gables Uptown Tower. Upon move out, we were given an extraordinary high bill that we were not aware of. Charging crazy amounts for trash and "cleaning" fees. If looking at this place, I would HIGHLY recommend not to waste your time with a tour or even apply. They will throw random fees in just to make a profit. And they have an "incentive" program that if you post good things on social media they will offer you $5 to raise thier ratings.
Property Manager at Whitney Uptown, Responded To This Review
Thank you for reviewing as a former resident. We apologize if you were dissatisfied with our pricing or the upkeep of the building. Our team communicates the move-out policies and the related charges upfront. We do have systems in place for internal feedback; however, we cannot pay anyone to write a review on a third-party review site. It is a resident's discretion to leave us or not leave us a review on an online reputation site of their choice. We'd be happy to address your questions regarding your move-out charges, so at your convenience, please email us at uptowntower@gables.com. We wish you well in the future.
Great place to live for those who like to go out and be in the downtown area. Great price and amazing staff (shout out Erik!). I left because it got a little noisy sometimes if your apartment faces McKinney. I had an air conditioning issues at one point but the staff worked resiliently to get it fixed (took a couple days). I would definitely recommend.
The rent is very cheap for Uptown Dallas and unfortunately this draws in a lot of party types. Loud noise and trash is not uncommon for weekends (I feel bad for the cleaning crew). Additionally, a lot of stuff in the common areas gets broken due to misuse by residents. Finish outs of the interior apartments aren't nice (especially not for the area), but I guess you get what you pay for. Sometimes I find that the repair crew has literally taped things onto the walls. Overall, it's a decent intro to uptown, but could really use a resident cleanout/update the units. Great for interns/YPs that are looking to have fun and hang out with other young people. PS- The internet infrastructure here is a joke. Everytime ATT stops by they complain about it and say that's why the internet is terrible.
I love my apartment at Gables Uptown Tower. You can't ask for a better view or location in the heart of Uptown Dallas for such a good price. I looked everywhere and everything else was more expensive and not near at great of a place to live. I've now been here for 2 years going on my third without any plans to leave anytime soon.
The apartment building is really nice overall. There is a beautiful 5th floor balcony, with two smaller pools and two grills that the residents can use. I have only lived in the place for a month however, and I noticed that there are some maintenance issues. My water heater broke in the middle of the night one day, and maintenance was very helpful along with management helping to solve the problem. I also noticed that there is one elevator that malfunctions frequently and the problems have persisted for a long while. The location of the building is near a good amount of bars and restaurants. The majority of people seem to be in their twenties. The apartment is also only a mile north of downtown Dallas as well.
The staff at Gables Uptown Tower is wonderful and always addresses requests in a timely manner. The location is perfect: groceries, shopping, and restaurants are all within a 5 minute walk, and it's a 5 minute drive to the 75 and the Dallas North Tollway. Not to mention it's right by the Katy Trail! Amenities are basic. There's two small pools and a decent size gym, but there's always at least 2 machines broken. The apartments themselves are a bit awkward (tall cabinets and shelves, but the light switches are about hip height) but decently sized. If you're below the 7th floor on the McKinney side, you probably won't be able to sleep before 1:00am on weekends since it's so noisy.
My husband and I just moved into this property after selling our house in the 'burbs and love it! We wanted to be in the middle of everything, and we are. The location is centrally located in Uptown, so we've been able to walk to bars & restaurants, the pharmacy, even the grocery store. The area is super pet-friendly, and the property is too - they have dog and cat treats in the leasing office to pick up whenever we get back from a walk with our dog.
