The city leadership in Wilkes-Barre has worked hard to promote a “walk-to-everything” lifestyle, with a general layout that is very friendly to pedestrians. This is particularly noticeable around the downtown area, where apartments, businesses, and public parks are all easily accessible on foot.
Just behind King’s College, River Common offers walking trails, a boat launch, an amphitheater, and plenty of space to just relax and enjoy a view of the Susquehanna River. The Public Square serves as the venue for outdoor events throughout the year, from the weekly farmer’s market to the annual Fine Arts Fiesta. Mohegan Sun Arena hosts larger sports and entertainment events regularly.
The ski areas and state parks surrounding Wilkes-Barre are very popular with tourists, and residents get to enjoy full access to these natural attractions year-round.

Property Ratings at Wilkeswood
I moved in two months ago yesterday. I am very pleased and satisfied thus far. The property grounds are well-maintained, quiet, in a great location, and safe. The Leasing Manager, Linda, is terrific and extremely accommodating. The maintenance staff are also great (amiable, too). As other reviewers pointed out, it is a bit pricey (but I knew that going in). However, gas is included and heat and stove are gas...meaning $200-500 a month is factored into the rent. Oh, the scenery is just stunning.

Streets and apartments are well maintained. Pleasant people. Beautiful property. Reserved handicapped parking spot. Pet friendly. Nice pool area. Plenty of nearby shopping and eating. Close to hospitals. Nice staff. Retro kitchens. Roomy apartments. Quiet. Reasonable for size.
Property Manager at Wilkeswood, Responded To This Review
Thanks for the five-star love! We feel so fortunate to call you a resident of Wilkeswood!
Beautiful view of snow covered mountains in winters. Beautiful and spacious apartments. Perfectly made to live in.
I lived at Wilkeswood for 2 years and while It was in a good location, the price of rent is really quite ridiculous for what you get. I knew the price going into it, but was in a position where I had to make a very quick decision about moving in. The office staff is quite rude and very unhelpful. I was made to feel stupid anytime I had questions about anything or needed to file a maintenance request. The maintenance staff is also very rude. I wouldn't live here again or recommend it to anyone. No one wants to deal with these kinds of prices for an apartment with no character and rude staff. It's just not worth it.
The apartments are unreasonably overpriced. They offer "contractor grade" units at higher class prices. Their customer service is unresponsive, they have fees for everything (including maintenance), and adjust your rent to the occupancy level when renewing your lease. I wouldn't recommend staying here longer than a one year contract term. Pros: pool, convenient location Cons: everything else
the apartment is spacious with ample closets. Kitchen is too small and we aren't allowed to grill or feed the birds. but overall it is very well located.
Awesome !"well kept safe and help at your fingertips!
