Living in Old Southwest Reno takes residents back to the early days of the Nevada city, back when pioneers roamed the streets and built homes any way they desired. Locals love the Old Southwest area for its status as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Reno. Close to downtown Reno and to restaurants, bars and schools, many Reno residents consider the area one of the most desirable parts of town.
Unlike the newer developments, Old Southwest homes resemble homes from the past, in many different styles. People can walk down the block and see both a mansion and a cottage on the same street. The uniqueness and old-fashioned nature of Old Southwest and its outer streets pique the interest of those who travel to Reno looking for a family neighborhood close to all of Reno’s attractions.

Property Ratings at Willowbrook Apartments
For the most part, we have had a good experience here, and if they had a unit that fit our needs at the end of our lease we would've stayed. Some issues we've had (specific to our unit): There's some visible evidence of water damage along the doors and baseboards but they're not hurting anything. Our unit has a mysterious mosquito plague. There's always a couple somewhere in the apartment and it's caused sleeping problems. The walls are pretty thin and we can hear the upstairs neighbors walking and sometimes even talking. Notes on the complex (please note it was built in 1972): They've put in new spots, but the parking can be ridiculous. People (myself included) routinely park in red zones over night due to lack of available spots. The office requires a sticker and will threaten to tow your car (stickers, and for serious cases a mass text to tenants with car info). We've had our cars stickered a few times for being in red zones or not having the updated sticker, but never actually been towed. There is also free parking out on Baker Ln, but it's a far walk to my apt especially at night. If you're right by the street it's really reasonable. There's a really cute playground for people with kids. Very pretty grass areas and trees. It's a very pet-friendly complex. No pet rent (deposit only) and they have full bag/trash stations everywhere. Maintenance requests are easy (online) and get dealt with within a few days depending on the seriousness. (My example: only 1-2 days for bedroom doors not closing properly). Ladies in the office have always been nice and helpful. I've witnessed them manage to calm an older tenant who had some whack complaints. They reassured him and he left less grumpy than he came in. Appliances were all new/good working when we moved in. Water pressure/heat is good. New carpet and faux wood flooring when we moved in. Close to freeway, shopping, food, a really nice park within walking distance. Fun note: there's an ice cream truck that comes around.
