Hillandale begins on the north side of Duke University and includes the Watts Hospital-Hillandale Historic District. This charming area dates back to 1908 and consists of arts and crafts style homes built in the early 1900s. The neighborhood follows Hillandale Road north to Horton Road. The Crossdaile Country Club is on the west side of the neighborhood. Hillandale is a wooded neighborhood filled with parks, hiking trails, and cozy streets lined with charming homes. Its small-town, rural feel belies its proximity to Downtown Durham, just minutes southeast.
Being so close to Duke University, residents have fast access to Duke University Hospital, Sarah P. Duke Gardens, Duke Forest, and the Nasher Museum of Art. On the south end of the neighborhood, the Shops at Erwin Mill is filled with popular shops, restaurants, cafes, and a Whole Foods Market.

Moving into my new apartment was a smooth and positive experience. From the moment I got the keys, everything felt right. The space was clean, the management was responsive, and super helpful. Unpacking was surprisingly easy, and I quickly made the place feel like home. I love living in wllowdaile. The office staff is so kind and understanding of life's problems that show up. The staff is never rude, or mean in any way to the tenets. The grounds are kept incredibly clean and there is never any trash laying around. Maintenance responds crazy fast when you have a problem. Washers and dryers are provided for you in your unit, which is way more convenient than having to use a community laundry room. I am grateful to have found this place and happy to call it home.

For the most part I like living here and it is convenient for every place that I want to go to. I don't like to drive so being near to a grocery is nice. I also like near by restaurants also.

For the most part I absolutely love living in wllowdaile, any issues I have had were not the management's fault, they were problems I had with people who don't understand what living under someone means. Other than that it has been a wonderful experience living here, the grounds are always clean and kept up the people in the office are very nice, and I am proud to call this place home!

It’s quiet and very well kept. All the employees are friendly as well. I absolutely love it here! The pool is well kept also. I have already recommended several friends to apply here. And it’s in a very convenient area with everything close by.

Great place! Amenities are nice, community is well kept, pool is open! Units are in decent condition and any maintenance needs are addressed quickly. Definitely plan to renew my lease.

I truly love living at Willowdaile. I have always been made to feel welcome, and at home here. The staff is always friendly, and helpful, and the grounds are always kept in beautiful condition, always clean, never trashy or messy. I appreciate the effort they put into keeping up with this complex. I have always felt safe coming home at Willowdaile, there are never any creepy people hanging around in the complex. I am looking forward to the fitness center opening!!

The community is beautiful and the neighborhood is amazing. My only concerns are the outer door to my complex doesn't close, but Ive noticed most of them don't. Also, the walls are very thin so I can hear every footstep my upstairs neighbor takes in her apartment. Overall I love my new home and appreciate how efficient the staff and maintenance are when it comes to concerns in the community!!

Nice community, owners are very attentive and units are in great condition. Sometimes the neighborhood feels a little unsafe. Would definitely renew my lease when the time comes.

So far my experience has been good … the community is very quiet.. there is a nice park for my kids to play at within the community the staff is amazing friendly cheerful folks so far good

Willowdale apartment is a nice place to live and also in a good location, with shopping and schools that are in the district, The apartment is well maintenance. The neighbors fairly ok.

The neighbors are quiet. The whole area is kept up. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a reasonably priced apartment to live in. Maintenance is on the ball with any issues that you might encounter.

I wish l can upload pictures here so you can see the difference between the reality and the pictures you see on there website the apartment was so old and not clean and bathroom and kitchen were horrible , we even saw some mold we couldn’t stay one hour there we canceled after we arrived directly. for us it was first time in durham and we reserved the apartment online after we saw the pictures and video but when we arrived it was shocking, and they never answer the phone and you have to knock the door of their office to open because they locked it , very bad customer service.

Poor management/maintenance definitely should consider hiring new staff immediately, roaches are all over the place health department came out still no change or attempts to change circumstances and renovations had to be the outside because the insides still look like 1986 excluding several apartments.

This apartment was terrible due to the fact that it was infested with roaches. Management moves slowly maintenance has a bad attitude it has poor work quality. The only benefit to staying here is the price point. No matter how much you clean and how clean of a person you are you will have roaches and water bugs. Also management makes everything a hassle whether it's service request my heat and air falling apart three times in one summer or any immediate needs they will make it more difficult than it needs to be.

I noticed a club house and pet care center are advertised. This is news to me. I've been here over three years. Need to get a contractor that can rid the complex of roaches. I'd still recommend this complex. I hate all the fees associated with the so called water bill. Management is very nice.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! The office staff is very rude, and makes up rules for tenants on a individual basis. We were told we couldn't have grills on the first floor, yet half the community has grills on the 2nd floor. How much sense does this make? Almost all of the building out here have mold. The way the staff addresses it is by painting over it! That is bad business not to mention a health hazard! I hope the better business bureau investigates and shuts this place down. It truly isn't a safe community because of the management and the shady skills they practice. Do yourself a huge favor and look elsewhere. This a review posted strictly off of facts. I have pictures from a number of apartments here from other people who have moved out and their complaints on the reasons leaving. This place will mentally and physically make you sick! They tell you they care about your concerns and really don't. Overcharging for sure on all units out here!
