Located about eight miles north of Downtown Seattle, the area of Lake City was once a railroad stop. It was named in 1906 and quickly developed into a suburb of Seattle. During Prohibition, the area was unincorporated. So when Seattle joined Prohibition, Lake City supplied the roadhouses and speakeasies barred from the nearby city. Lake City became a Seattle neighborhood in the mid-1950s. With Lake Washington as the neighborhood’s sparkling gem, residents are rediscovering this northern neighborhood.
Lake City stretches from the lake to roughly 15th Avenue in North Seattle. While the speakeasies are long gone, there are several popular destinations along Lake City Way, including HellBent Brewing Company Elliott Bay Public House & Brewery, Brother Barrel, and 2C Thai. If you are moving to Lake City with a pet, you’ll appreciate Dogwood Play Park, an indoor dog park and bar complete with a treat bar and birthday cakes for pet parties.

Property Ratings at Willows Court Apartment Homes
We've lived at Willow's Court for four years and it is the best apartment we've lived at in Seattle (I've lived in many). The building is well maintained, secure, and several upgrades have been made to our unit over the years, which has been great (especially the new granite countertops). During the first year or so of living here, it was sort of a revolving door of staff in the office, but in the last few years they have had the same AMAZING staff, which has been an absolute blessing. The few maintenance items we had over the years were always resolved really quickly. It's also been great to witness the transformation of the up-and-coming Lake City neighborhood (including the Thursday Farmer's Market right across the street). As a bus commuter, I've also really appreciated how easy it is to get to the U-District (route 372) and Downtown (route 522).
The reason for the low review is because they are saying we did not return garage openers and several keys which is a flat out lie. For some background we had spoken with Sheila, who has always been kind, and let her know we may not be out of the unit until later in the night when she was off of work. She said that is ok and that we can just leave the keys on the counter. We called in the morning to ensure they had received everything they had needed but the lady who answered (who has been rude several occasions, including this call) said that's not how it worked and that we needed to give them permission to enter the unit before she can even do so (even though our lease was officially up). This wasn't what we were told, plus we had already given written notice which they had acknowledged and verified. Now they are saying that we didn't turn in any garage openers- which is utter BS- all three were left on the counter where we were told to with 100% certainty. They also say we are missing several keys which is also BS. We did forget to leave the parking permits at first-which we brought back.
BEDBUGS!!! BEDBUGS!!! BE FAR AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT. I will give zero star if I could to Willows Court apartment and I'll never recommend it to any one. It's a nightmare and we experienced most painful days during our life there. Stay away from it if you don't want to get stuck into such case like us. First, actually the rent is not low, we rent one bedroom six months ago, the rent is about $1100 per month but the utility fee is almost $150 per month, it is much higher than other apartments. Secondly, the officer is not polite, when we visited the apartment at the first time, she seems nice. But when we moved in, sometimes we meet her, she didn’t say hi to us pretending she never sees us. Thirdly, there are some people smoking marijuana, you would smell it in the passage way all the time. Lastly, after we moved in, we were bit by bedbugs, deadly all over the body. We were bit for five days until we finally know it's bed bug, we never experience it during our years' rent in Seattle. Then we argue with the officer, the first thing they did is to try all they can to escape from taking responsibility. At first she saw my wounds all over the body, she was afraid and promised they would compensate. But after the treatment of the bedbugs, they compensate nothing. We try to argue to move out but they are requiring us to pay 3 month rent for that, you'll never imagine how hopeless we are and how terrible the officer is.The officer pushes us to talk with her supervisor, who is worse. The supervisor is unresponsive and never cares how you feel. After several un-responded contacts, the supervisor finally replies, however, tries to push to responsibility to us!!!!!! How terrible those guys were! During the treatment, we should package all of the stuffs and put them in the kitchen and wash and dryer all the clothes, you can image how time consuming it is, especially for people has daily work to do. Again they compensate nothing and were rude to us. During the treatment of the bedbugs, I found a bedbug in the laundry room. So it illustrated there are bedbugs in the whole buildings. But the officer lied “This is the first time we meet bedbugs.” And the treatment of bedbugs destroyed our mattress. They didn’t even apologize to us, let alone compensation. We lived three apartments in Seattle for a couple years, the Willows Court is definitely the worst. Never move into it unless you want to feed BEDBUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've come to Willows Court twice in the past couple months looking for an apartment and both times the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The building is just off the main road but it's far enough away where it's surprisingly quiet. The apartments I toured were all updated within the last year and the apartment I moved into is gorgeous! Shelia really listened to what my boyfriend and I were looking for and we got everything we needed. Upon move in, there were a few small issues that we discussed with Shelia and she had maintenance come fix them the following weekday. I couldn't be more pleased with the staff and the location- even the few neighbors we've met are nice and helpful! This is a great place to rent and it's reasonably priced for the area.
Great place to just live. A nice park around the corner and across the street from the public library. Also, easy access to so many public transit line to get you to Downtown Seattle, Bothell, U District, Northgate, and many other places. Walking is just a nice as well. The complex itself is nice. Nothing special, but a good place to just live.
I was renting 2B/2B apartment at Willows Court the master bedroom with attached bath is really spacious in comparison to other apartments in the same area. The apartment is in close proximity to bus-stop, park, grocery stores and bank. Washing machine is not inside the unit but since it is on every floor it works fine to share with other people. Gym does not have many equipment for work-out. RENT IS VERH HIGH IN COMPARISON TO SERVICES PROVIDED
This is a wonderful place to live the management has a tough job to do, Every complaint I have had has been addresses right away, I think the Maintenance is outstanding , very knowledgably, friendly and courteous Great neighbor's they have really been doing a good job since the old manager left , I think it has been cleaned up since she left and they offer the prospect a wonderful place to call home.
The apartment building is decent. Nice floor plans, great counter space in the kitchens and each place have a balcony. The walls are a little thin but that is to be expected in older type apartments so that doesn't matter as much especially since we have had some pretty nice neighbors. The number one issue with this building is management. From what I can tell the previous management either retired or everyone working in the front office was fired and replaced by one incompetent woman. She can't manager her own time well. She is never in the office during her office hours, she doesn't respond to phone calls or messages, and she constantly makes excuses instead of working on a problem to fix it. Now I feel stuck. Unfortunately we didn't know about this change in management before it was too late to find a new apartment and to simply pay month to month for this building, the rent is literally doubled. DOUBLED. Again, the building itself is pretty decent, but it is seriously not worth the time trying to get management to do their job.
