The ritzy neighborhood of East Minnetonka, located 20 minutes from Downtown Minneapolis, allows locals to take advantage of the small-town feel, while enjoying the convenience of the nearby city. An extremely safe area, many families make their home here. Although largely residential, several quality bars and restaurants serve the area, and Ridgedale Center, a large, regional shopping mall, is under 10 minutes from the city center. The many lakes, parks, and woodlands provide popular outdoor activities for visitors year-round. An array or low-rise apartments and luxurious single-family homes make East Minnetonka a top pick among residents.

Property Ratings at Wilshire Wood
Wilshire Woods is an amazing place to live. If you are looking for a quiet, safe, and friendly community, look no further. I've lived in this complex for over 3 years now. I don't plan on leaving any time soon. The management is always there for you and makes you feel like family. If there is ever an emergency or needed maintenance, management goes out of there way to make sure you are taken care of. The building is extremely clean, even the outside is very well maintained. There is a no smoking rule, that everyone follows. Everyone you meet in the complex is incredibly kind and well mannered. I've never had any disturbances or issues living here. I honestly can't write one bad thing even if I wanted to.
We have truly enjoyed living at Wilshire Wood. It is a quiet, clean, comfortable home with a landlord that looks out for you and works extremely hard to make sure everything is at its best. The price was fair and we never had any issues with appliances, security, laundry etc. It was also very appreciated how concerned Hope was for making sure residents were aware of any changes or events going on at the building at all times. Wilshire Wood was wonderful, we would still be there if we did not move for a job opportunity. I have rented a handful of times and can confidently say I have never been more cared for or felt more confident about the integrity of my landlord and management team. Thank you Wilshire!
When we moved in we were told cats were allowed for an additional fee. We asked Hope (the manager) to set this up and she said, “I don’t know how to do that.” Okay, um, figure it out? She hemmed and hawed and kept stalling and making excuses. Eventually we called the management company directly to get the forms. Hope didn’t seem to think we should be allowed to have a cat because it might cause problems for her. One night we were cooking a pizza and the carbon monoxide alarm went off. Hope came in and said, “Don’t worry! I’ll change the battery!” Okay, but it said carbon monoxide alert, not “low battery.” She didn’t listen and a few minutes later the carbon monoxide alarm went off again. We were really concerned at this point. Carbon monoxide can make you pass out and die pretty quick, and isn’t something to mess around with. Hope came back and said, “Oh the alarm must be broken, I will get you a new one.” I agreed that it could be a false alarm, but it could also mean there was CARBON MONOXIDE in the apartment. That’s what a carbon monoxide detector does, right? Detects carbon monoxide? Hope became extremely combative and hostile, saying all sorts of nonsense like “Carbon monoxide doesn’t vent” meaning it would still be present even with the windows open (of course it vents), and that she “didn’t smell anything,” even though everyone knows carbon monoxide is an odorless gas. I just couldn’t believe the property manager of a building would argue with a paying tenant over an obvious health and safety issue. When it was clear I wasn’t getting through to her, I told her I was going to shut off the gas and get the apartment checked. She argued with me over that too, saying over and over again, “I don’t want you to do that.” I just couldn’t believe a company could hire such a relentlessly incompetent person. We made the decision to move that night. After all that, the Highland Management company refused to budge on the lease. In the past I’ve had reasonable landlords who only asked me to pay if they were unable to find a new tenant when breaking a lease. But these people wanted DOUBLE their money, new tenant or no. Completely outrageous, especially considering we were being driven out by a nutty manager who would rather argue with tenants than do her job. They used the old excuse of “company policy,” even though this was clearly extenuating circumstances due to negligence over health and safety. It’s just a rotten way to treat people.
Lived here 2 years, which was 2 years too long. Management was either nonexistent or overbearing, no in between. The "gym" is three machines in a closet sized room. The air conditioners only cool down the living room (have fun sleeping when it's 100° outside). The hot water broke 4 times in a month, in January. No compensation or explanation offered to the tenants. In the winter, the "snow removal" was absolutely horrendous. The plow would drive in a circle around the parked cars, causing every driver outside to have to shovel out of their spots. They would never put down sand or salt on the parking lot so it was always slippery. Then, after you spend days on end cleaning the place in compliance with their "cleaning checklist" after moving out, they still charge you a "cleaning fee" when you get your security deposit back.
