If you live anywhere near the state of Alabama, you're probably already aware of what you'll find in Tuscaloosa: the University of Alabama (Roll, Tide!). As the oldest and largest university in the state, UA was founded in 1820. It is a top-ranking public research university and it has one of the winningest college football programs in US history. The Crimson Tide football team is part of the NCAA Division I SEC and has a total of 16 national championship titles.
And while there's more to living in Tuscaloosa than cheering on the home team at the Bryant-Denny Stadium, you'll probably want to pack your crimson and white. As a college town, Tuscaloosa has its fair share of off-campus housing and apartment communities, but you'll find there's plenty more to this dynamic city. Tuscaloosa is located along the Black Warrior River roughly 56 miles southwest of Downtown Birmingham. Tuscaloosa offers a variety of museums, theaters, shops, and restaurants to explore.

Property Ratings at Winding Creek
I really wanted to target the last post on the current manager here at Winding Creek. I have lived here almost 5 years. She and I have had many conversations. I believe she is a great manager doing her job to keep this area safe for our children, clean, respectable and healthy. Admittedly, in the past 5 years, I have seen some very bad tenants come and go. Thankfully, when the bad ones make their way in or tenants let bad people live with them without proper notice, our manager gets on the issues immediately and takes care of them. If you want to live in an apartment complex that looks out and stands up for the decent, peaceful and abiding people; Then Winding Creek is your place to live. It certainly has for my, just now, 8 year old daughter and me. I will say that I strongly believe the apartments could be up kept better. The owners, or whomever, do not seem to want to spend any money on repairs. It seems they just want to fix it with tape, so-to-speak, until the 6th or 7th time the issue is addressed. Then they "may" repair it properly. P.S. On the previous negative review; I could almost guarantee that said negative response is from someone who broke a rule, disruptive or had disruptive guests, didn't pay their rent or maybe even got caught doing something unlawful or just plain wrong, caught and dismissed as a tenant.
The landlord at this apartment complex is such a rude unprofessional person. Although the maintenance staff is nice and compliant, The landlord refuses to allow them to make necessary repairs to the apartments as needed. For some people, the purpose of "rental" is to have someone to make repairs and keep your living quarters in proper working conditions. I think this would be a much better place to live if the owners would look into replacing the current apartment manager.
