Beloved for its proximity to both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the central region of Middlesex County sits about 40 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Nearby New Brunswick, home to Rutgers University, provides access to a rich, local arts and culture hub. This neighborhood is ideal for those seeking a quiet, suburban setting not far removed from nearby entertainment and amenities. Mid- and low-rise apartment communities in the northern section of the neighborhood give way to more single-family homes fit for a variety of renters. Interstate 95 and a host of other thoroughfares make commuting around the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Winding Wood Apartments
Walk in the office to ask if they accept dogs & the extremely RUDE lady who obviously doesn't like her job or is related to the owner says you can't read the sign. WOW! Somebody needs a life!!!! I would NEVER EVER give them my.money after that & will make sure to tell everyone I know not to ever go there.
Hello there, you are probably in search for an apartment, probably sad because you can't find one then you are happy because this one popped up with 8 available units... Only to finally get on the phone with the rudest leasing agent, may you please save yourself the hassle and trouble by avoiding this complex.
Leasing Office Lady is extreamly rude. She also requested for "Cash" tip to show availability of apartments.
They are horrible here don't fix anything they look for excuses to try and kick u out so u have to fi ish paying rent while they rentnout the apt and then claim to lose rent checks even though they were cashed and it goes to a p.o. box I wouldn't go here unless u have no other choice and even then I still wouldn't come here
Family place. I love living there. There is some problematic neighbors as any place and you can see this by some reviews on line. People like to make complains about ants when they throw their own garbage away.. The maintenance is helpful. they come as soon as you call. A lot of kids playing during summer. safe place to live.
They don't have pest control and management is ready to kick you out anytime. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
The ground floor apt bathroom window is next to your entrance and you can smell people going to the bathroom. There's trash / litter all over the place. You can smell your neighbors cooking all over your apt which can get into your clothes!! The teenagers are disrespectful and smoke pot in the laundry room like it their club house.
Moved in November 2020 and I cannot wait to get out (6/26/2021)!!!!! They neglect to tell you how their apartments are running rampant with carpenter ants and spiders. When I called maintenance about the ants the lady literally said “Oh you too? Yeah they come every year when the warm weather kicks in” excuse me??? The ants are taken care of but the spiders move right in to take their place. I am not one to leave my windows or doors open bc my partner has very bad allergies and every morning we kill 4-7 spiders and then a few more when we return home from work. I woke up one morning to spider webs all over my couch with little baby spiders running amok. At the beginning of this summer, my AC wasn’t working properly, called maintenance, they replaced the filter, and here we are 6/26/2021 and my AC is not blowing cold air. My apartment has been stuck at 82-85 degrees for 2 whole days. I turned the AC off for 15 hours thinking it’ll kick up again and nope. Maintenance isn’t open on the weekends so they won’t even come in to fix my AC bc it’s “not an emergency”. Not sure what constitutes as an emergency if overheating isn’t one of them. God forbid I had family with any medical condition... When i moved in, there were cracks in the walls, I called maintenance to fix them and no one ever came. Most of my issues are maintenance related. Thankfully the maintenance men who come are extremely nice and helpful. As for the neighborhood, it’s quiet for me. The only issue I’ve ever had was someone stealing my package the first month I was here, but my neighbors have been kind enough to hold onto or at least watch over my packages until I come home. Walls are thin, don’t underestimate those who have said the same about the walls. You can’t hear your neighbors conversations, but you can easily hear any louder noises like moving furniture, knocking in walls, etc. Cabinet space in the kitchen are small so be mindful of that.
I would not recommend this place to live, when you call maintenance they take 2 or 3 weeks to get there, and those in the office are very rude.
I moved into this property to find out it is infested with ants. I know this management knew about this issue there is no way the ants just started probably why this was vacant. I wish I saw these reviews I would have never bothered. At night this is a different place. Loud neighbors, loud music all the time not enough parking not at all what I bargained for.
Been here five months. Had electrical issues, sink needed replacing, ac needed to be fixed , toilet needed replacing, ceiling leaks, oven needed fixing, fridge still leaking. Trying to get out of here already but landlord will never directly Respond to you and always speaks through his staff
I've lived in a 1br here since 2017. It's plenty of space for a 1 person, honestly even a couple could live in this space no problem. Huge closets. I like the balcony. The laundry situation sucks, having to go outside to a different building with limited hours is a pain. Management is extremely hard to get ahold of, you'll probably have to keep calling over and over. Most of the time the neighborhood is quiet (although if you're in one of the buildings right along Bordentown, it won't be...) but the reports of crime/violence/etc are unfortunately true. It's not very well-lit at night, which makes it hard to see building numbers, and I don't feel safe walking around at night. Depending on your neighbors, you could be hearing their every move. I swear I can smell when my downstairs neighbors make fish... I have not had a problem finding parking but it definitely varies based on what building you happen to be in. The price is definitely good for the area, but... well, I see why that is. If you're not on a strict budget, I would highly recommend avoiding this - yes, the big closets and the balcony might be tempting, but not worth it if you ask me. Even if you are on a strict budget, I would still reconsider.
The walls are incredibly thin. You can hear everything but what I find the most appalling, I have been living here for 2 months, is the blasting music at all times of the day. I have contacted the neighbors directly to quiet down which is always hostile and uncomfortable, I have contacted the office with no help whatsoever, and I have even slept in my living room some nights to try to get away from it but sometimes it can still be heard there. I feel as though my only option is to call the cops when realistically the management company should be intervening. All they would have to do is go to the apartment and listen. Wish I never would have moved in. My home should be my safe place to relax and enjoy not somewhere that is hostile, loud and that I have no avenues of control to correct.
This place isn't a place I would recommend someone to live in. The office where you pay your rent hillside estates the office manager there is super rude probably the rudest person I ever had to deal with. It's all about the money they don't care. Would i recommend this place to anyone i don't think so. I think winding woods needs a fresh start with new people. Please don't move here . The area outside has geese poop every where they don't keep up with that. Also mold and the vents don't get cleaned when they should . Just think about moving here. You get what you pay for.
place sucks and not safe. drugs and gangs. also the management does not care about the tenant's. please choose another location.
The low prices may catch your attention as it did for me. I can tell you first hand do not move here. Besides from when you leave your lease they will take your full deposit, try to charge you untill the unit is rented and then send it into collections!!!!!!! Besides that: -the whole complex is filled with cockroaches, it’s disgusting. - gang and drug dealers around the basketball courts and the security does nothing about it - the entire town of Sayreville thinks and replies to this place as the ghetto, you do not even want to say you love there or people will definitely look at you differently - after superstorm sandy, they way the cleaned it up, most apartments never even changed their carpet. It is filled with mold and mildew. It was not cleaned properly. - never any parking if you get home pass 9pm - you can contact maintenance for an issue and they will fix it but not 100% fix it. - if you get any deliveries, and you are not home and they leave it at the door, forget it, someone will steal your package. - there have been stabbings, murders, police are always called there every weekend like clockwork. Google it, you can find the articles for yourself.
Extremely unprofessional staff and doesn't care about people, very rude they don't even respect people and they don't even give proper information. This place has very very very bad management. If you complain they don't care all they want is your monthly rent check. They started increasing rent 2% every year from past 3 years but they reduced maintenance since last 2 years.
Pros - I just moved last year from a 1 br to a 2 br. It was the same price as most 1 Brs in the area. You cannot beat the price anywhere. I've been here total 3 yrs now and haven't had 1 problem, I feel very safe, the neighbors are quiet here (not in the last apartment, guy below me played loud music ALL weekend sat and sun 7am - 11pm and I like to sleep in). I have a balcony and grow my veggies and herbs. Maintenance has been better than I've heard about read on other reviews. I really like it here and you would too. Cons - parking is not reserved and its first come, first serve. Deal with it.
I have lived in this property for almost 4 years now and I have not had any major problems. The apartments are a pretty good size and it is the most cost effective place in the area. The grounds could be kept up with a little more but I'm sure the maintenance staff has more than enough work cut out for them trying to keep up with 1,900 units.
Management team is very rude to deal with. They want you to send them a fax or mail if you want to communicate to them. They basically discourage you to reach out to them as they just want to sit there and collect checks. They're not going to help you if you have any issues as they're not interested in customer service. They always deduct money from your deposit when you leave by giving lame excuses. Extremely unprofessional staff and doesn't care about people. Not sure of what background checks they do as cops have arrested people from community on multiple instances which made us very uncomfortable to live there as we didn't feel safe. Horrible place to live and would recommend you to live anywhere else but here.
This place has very bad management. It you complain they don't care all they want is your monthly rent check. They have riches in some apartments and they will rent to ANYONE. The try to help they are really nice but they can do but so much. Walls are very thin. You pay for what you get.
My apartment is great, I have 1 bedroom, 3 walk-in closets, a kitchen, and a separate eating area that has doors on both sides of the room that can lock, it's great, there's a dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, you have your own hot water heater, no worrying about ppl in the building using all the hot water, and it has central air. The maintenance here has a huge staff, a group assigned to different areas..and they show up and make repairs quick and prompt. When snow fall, by morning the walkway to your door and sidewalks are already shoveled and salted, grass stay cut, bushes stays trimmed. This is a nice place to live, but you don't have to take my word for it, come see for yourself.
Very convenient if you have your own vehicle!. Very spacious buildings.
THIS IS AN IDEAL COST EFFECTIVE APARTMENT COMPLEX. THE RENT IS THE MOST REASONABLE AND COST EFFECTIVE I HAVE FOUND IN THE NORTHEAST. AND THE SIZE IS PHENOMENAL. THE ONE BEDROOM IS VERY SPACIOUS WITH A SEPARATE DINING ROOM THAT CAN BE USED AS A BEDROOM. THERE ARE THREE LARGE CLOSET, ONE OF WHICH IS A WALK IN STORAGE AREA WITH SHELVES. AND THE APT. HAVE PRIVATE ENTRANCES. BAY WINDOWS ON THE LOWER FLOORS AND SLIDING GLASS DOORS WITH BALCONY ON THE TOP FLOORS. EXCELLENT PLACE TO WORK, SAVE AND LIVE COMFORTABLE. I HAVE LIVED HEARE FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. WHEN I CALL FOR PROB. IN THE APT. MAINTENANCE RESPONDS WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER
Small 1 bedroom apartment and my mom and I made the dining room into a bed room and one bathroom. Very small !
Winding Wood Apartments are the most affordable place to live in NJ. It's great if you are just starting out on your own, or a couple saving up for a house. The rent is low enough that it allows you the opportunity for you to save! It's close to parks for your children, grocery stores, and main roads. While it's not a luxurious condo, it's roomy and has great closet space! I will not ever regret my decision to move here, knowing that I have a place to live and not going broke doing it!
The apartment complex may not look like much but it has fairly nice grounds and balconies that face a lot of trees. Everyone seems very friendly. There are children playing, people going for a run or walk, so the complex feels safe. The apartment is spacious for me and while the kitchen could certainly use an upgrade, the central air makes up for it as it is difficult to find central air in affordable apartments these days. I like the look and so far I love living here.
