The large neighborhood of East Windsor is in central New Jersey, with the smaller neighborhood of Hightstown directly in its center. Both neighborhoods belong to Mercer County and are in a very convenient location for residents who work in north or south New Jersey and Philadelphia or New York.
Many major roadways run through these neighborhoods, including roads heading north to New York City and east to the famous New Jersey shore. Many colleges and universities are located in and around the East Windsor/Hightstown area, including Rutgers University to the east and Monmouth University and Princeton University to the northeast.
Aside from the many highly regarded universities, the location and affordable real estate draw new residents and families to the area.

Property Ratings at Windsor Castle
From the application process to move in the property manager Kelli was welcoming and attentive through the whole process. The complex is quiet with updated amenities making this a relaxing place to call home.
Quiet area, respectful neighbors, responsive maintenance staff and helpful property manager. Very pet friendly and a nice playground for the kids at the complex. Minor drawbacks include snow removal - using small plows means if you don't move your car when they are plowing you will have to dig yourself out. I had water damage to my apartment from repairs/renovations to the upstairs apartment. Came home to a flooded kitchen and water dripping down the walls. I did have roaches at one point and had treatment over several months. My neighbors had them as well, as the Cooper Pest truck was spotted out front several times. Pest control was handled personally and paid for out of pocket (at least it was for me). I'm not sure if it would have been handled by the apartment complex if I had asked.
The property manager was very helpful and I found the service to be exceptional. Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone in the market for a good family home.
Windsor Castle is one of the best and affordable apartments that we had moved into! The manager, Keli, is really sweet and always so helpful, the staff and the maintenance are really helpful as well. The apartments are always in great condition and has a very lovely community.
I have been living here for almost 2 years and I love my apartment and any issues are addressed immediately by the property Mgr Kelli. She takes her job serious and does it very well!!
I have lived in these apartments for 2 years. I consider this apartment to be the best because Kelli, the manager, she is always willing, very professional, always seeks for the best interest of the tenants and always reachable. She is the best! The maintenance staff, Abi, he is professional, always willing to help and prompt to handle any issues, he is the greatest as the other staffs as well. You will never regret moving to this apartment. Thank you so much Kelli and Abi! You make a difference!
We have lived in Windsor Castle Apartments on and off for 5 years and I must say that our time there has been very pleasant. Especially Kellie, the property manager was always available by phone or email to assist with any problems. Maintenance was prompt to handle any issues we had. If we didn't have to move out of state, it would be the place we call home. Thank you Kellie for everything you did for us. Everything is accessible in the area, with great restaurants, grocery stores, parks for kids and adults. Movie theater, urgent care if needed. All you can need.
This was my first time living in an apartment and the experience was flawless from start to finish. The management was incredibly nice, super professional and very accommodating. The apartment was like brand new when I moved in. The neighbors are super friendly as well! When I had an issue with my water, the handymen were there super quick and fixed the problem right away. It is also in an awesome area, right off of 130 and the turnpike but close to lots of stores. I look forward to staying with this community for quite some time!
I've been living here for 2 years now and honestly I don't have plans on moving any time soon. The complex is quiet (and safe most importantly), my neighbors are kind, the management and maintenance team are super responsive and they are always helpful. Any time I invite family and friends over, they fall in love with how up to date and spacious the apartment is and how beautiful and peaceful the community is as well. I've truly never felt more at home.
I lived at Windsor Castle for one year and had no issues. The heat and water are included in the rent, which is something you won't find with nearby apartment complexes. The apartments are very spacious and include plenty of closets. Kelli, the property manager is very friendly and was always readily available to answer any questions or help out in anyway. The maintenance guys were very quick to address any problems I had. Another bonus is that they take two large dogs. I would totally recommend this place. If I hadn't purchased a home, I would still be living here.
We were in a bind when I found a new job in Princeton, and we needed to find an affordable apartment ASAP. We found Windsor Castle (WC), and they had only one opening coming available, that should tell you something there. The apartment we got was a classic 1BR for $1175, which for the area is extremely affordable and allowed us to save a lot of money compared to the rent of $1500 in the Princeton area, the only utility you pay is electric (of course cable and internet too). They also include 2 free parking spaces per unit. Before we moved in, WC made sure the place was ready to go, and even replaced the carpeting on the stairs because it wasn't up to par. The floor plan is awesome, we purchased the a humongous sectional that fit no problem in front of our 65" TV, had a walk in closet plus a full double closet in the bedroom, and a very large eat in kitchen. The balcony is a great bonus too. For the two of us, there was more than enough room to live comfortably and have our friends and family over. Over our ~1.5yr stay, we never had any problems that weren't solved efficiently and in a quick/timely manner. We had carpenter bees outside our balcony and they were taken care of within a day or two. Over our stay, windows were upgraded and doors were painted with no inconvenience to us. We dealt with Kelli in the office and she was great at making our stay there 5 stars. The only improvement I could say, which I agree with some of the other reviews, is that their maintenance can be slow at times or hard to understand on the phone. With that said, for the money you spend, you will not find a better complex. This was a great first apartment!
I moved into my apartment a few months ago, and I could not be happier with my decision. The property manager goes above and beyond to ensure that I'm comfortable and happy. I needed help turning on my heat a few days ago, and within minutes, maintenance was right over and fixed the problem quick and efficiently. The area is very safe, and most importantly, pet friendly! Lease an apartment here, and you will not be disappointed.
We moved in the spring of 2014 and almost immediately regretted our decision. Within weeks the entire apartment was infested with roaches. We were not living there full time and never cooked those first few weeks so we know they didn't come from us. By the time we moved out after 14 months, we ended up needing to replace all of our small appliances, and some of our furniture due to the infestation. We called the office weekly to have the problem taken care of and were always told that they came when we were at work. Not true at all. We have moved in to a new home and the problem followed us here, so we are now out thousands of dollars because of that disgusting complex. We can deal with the obnoxious neighbors ( part of why we moved out) but the fact that this place has followed us has been a nightmare! Don't let the "luxury" in the name fool you. It is far from.
Terrible management. No helpful. They forget things that was told to them to be fixed. And not even any follow ups after that. Very frustrated with the management. And as mentioned in the earlier review by someone, I bought the window AC unit a month ago when I moved in and now for the "insurance reasons" they are asking us to remove it. That is complete waste of money and time. Office does not even apologize for doing this to their tenants. They all have attitude. I have stayed at atleast three other garden style apartments and I have never seen such a management. I told them my bedroom AC does not work and they send a super to see it and he says it is working in 5 minutes. Of course it will work for 5 minutes. They don't respect what a tenant is talking about. Overall I will say do not lease this apartment.
It's safe to say we will NOT be renewing our lease next year. It was bad from the beginning: I was listed as an occupant and they still did a hard credit check without my consent or knowledge (which is ILLEGAL). Nothing was done to rectify this, nor was any apology made. Our apartment was supposed to be hardwood, and they informed us days before we moved that it had been carpeted by the former tenant. We later realized this was to hide extensive damage to the hardwood. The single AC unit provided was not nearly enough to cool the space; we talked with management and were given the go-ahead to buy a new one. Not 2 months later we got a notice (As did all tenants) that for "insurance reasons" we were not allowed to have window units anymore. We had to buy a new floor unit because it's far too hot here and the single AC/fans we have don't cut it. When we tried to ask management for information about the insurance company, they were extremely rude and did not give us any. Maintenance never comes when they say they will, and when they do it is often shoddy work. We were also not informed until after we had already signed the lease that there was an infestation of bedbugs and cockroaches previously. We also had an issue with fruit flies (there from day 1) but it was eventually addressed. The complex also does not recycle. This is technically illegal in the state of NJ. Even if it weren't illegal, it's terrible for the environment and another example of the dubious cost-cutting measures taken by this complex. Parking is also sometimes an issue; there are no numbered spaces and people from across the street park in front of our building despite plentiful spots by their own. Some apartments have 4 cars between 2 people, and this led to permits/stickers being given out (one car per person policy). This has mostly not been enforced and has done nothing to change the situation. It is NOT worth it to live here; it's overpriced for what it is and you will be frustrated with things very quickly. The only positive I can think of is that the area is relatively nice, although quite a few of the people that live in this particular complex (as well as surrounding ones) are rude and tend to vandalize cars (keying, ripping off bumper stickers) and harass/catcall women. Obviously this isn't accounting for everybody, but these are things to keep in mind. Surrounding complexes have more space and a better price. Don't waste your time or money here.
This is my second year living in Windsor castle and NJ and I have made it my home. Safe area, next to great schools. Apartments are clean and up to date. Maintenance is thorough and management is helpful. love it here and will be renewing my lease again!
Windsor Castle is very clean and safe. The employees are very nice and very helpful, anytime I had a question regarding the apartment they were able to help me right away. The apartment I'm in is very clean and nice, everything was replaced that needed to be replaced before I moved in.. I have no complaints about windsor castle
The office Staff was very nice and being able to walk around and tour the location with the help of the staff was great. The location fits my future needs and makes me feel like all the efforts being made to move in will be worthed.
Lived here since 2000! The maintenance has changed more than I can remember. Biggest problem is my bathroom. The faucet is broken and I've called several times and they just come to check it but never fix it. My floors are going under the walls and all they do is put new floor on top of it to save money and time. The maintenance staff is VERY lazy. The new management is wasting money of the outsides of the apartments near the office to make it look appealing. But once you move in your new apartment maintenance never shows up for your said problem. P.S. Dawnb is the name of the lady in the office
This complex does not even deserve one star. Staff is very rude and not helpful. Apartments might look good in the outside, but once you move in maintenance is horrible. I called a few times because of leaking in the bathroom and because my oven doesn t heat up; and I am still waiting for maintenance to come by even after a few attempts of me contacting them . Please do yourself a favor and don t move here.
I currently live in WIndsor Castle and i love it! They just installed a beautiful playground and my daughter loves it, the leasing agent is so nice as well as all other staff. Maintenance is always there when you call no matter what the problem. Overall its a great property and i will recommend to anyone.
