Property Ratings at Windsor Ridge
Might be ok for short term, the maintenance team is great, but there is a big roach problem. They will also raise your rent every year even if its above market because it's owned by Essex and they don't want long term residents.
There are multiple problems- 1. The Trash is mishandled, and the trash cans are so close to the apartments that the roaches can enter the house easily. 2. You can hear each and every step of your neighbors upstairs. The walls are so thin, that you can listen to the music of your neighbor. 3. The management is not proactive in handling the problems there is no intent to make life better for residents.
This apartment was beyond poor. The appliances in my kitchen fell apart in the first few weeks, as they were super glued together. It took them 100+ days to complete maintenance requests. I caught maintenance men snooping around my apartment on camera when I was out of town. Management is the worst I've ever experienced. They turn everything into a way to get more money from you. I hear my neighbors and EVERY sound- even the dog walking on the floor. The insulation in the building is horrible.
Bed bugs are infested everywhere in this community. Stay away if you would like to get a good night's rest. This has propagated to buildings 2, 4, and 6 and there are no signs of end. They don't actually treat the problem and end up blaming you and holding you responsible for treatment.
The worst apartment management I have ever encountered. They are just looking for ways to extract money from people. I paid the holding deposit for one of there units. Unfortunately I couldn't move in by the date agreed upon so I requested them to extend the move in date, which they did at a higher price(market price for the new date). But here comes the interesting part, 2 days before my move in date, they gave the apartment to someone else without informing me. I was left with no apartment 2 days before my move out from my existing apartment and they even refused to return my deposit. I would have given 0 start if possible. worst management ever. Bunch of greedy managers just trying to rip people off. No customer empathy or morals.
Stay away from this place!! The only positive thing is the efficient maintenance staff. Everything else is garbage. - I lived in a ground floor apartment and the noise from my upstairs neighbors were unbearable. The ceiling and walls are too thin, you can hear everything they do (even when you are not too noise sensitive). I complained many times but didn't get any help. I survived that year with a white noice machine. - Don't keep any hope on getting your security deposit back when you move out. They will try their best to keep every cent and charge even more. During the pre-move out inspection, I was told that my apartment is in good condition and just let them do the minimum cleaning which would not cost much money. Two months after moving out, I got a bill saying that I even owe money (security deposit was not enough for them). Not only they did carpet cleaning and general cleaning they did the entire wall painting. When I asked an explanation about why they did the wall painting, they told me they'll get back to me (people from Essex management corporation) and I got a surprise letter saying my account is going to collections agency. This shows how unprofessional they are. When I went in person to the leasing office, they showed me the bill for paint job saying it was done mainly because of strong cooking odor. The leasing officer said it's the spices I used leading to cooking smell when I barely cooked with spices. I have a feeling they just scammed me because of my south asian name and assumed I made food with spices. These people are not only unprofessional, they are scammers and racists. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, it's not worth it.
The leasing staff is friendly and capable, and the two pools are a nice feature, but that's about all Windsor Ridge has going for it. I've been living here for over a year, and I can't wait for my lease to end. There are dozens of newer, even brand-new, facilities in the area for the same price which have modern conveniences like central cooling and hassle-free plumbing. Windsor Ridge outfits its apartments with a single window-AC unit in the main room. In my particular unit, the bathtub overflow wasn't even hooked up to the plumbing - taking a bath meant dumping water into the apartment below me! And to resolve this issue, they didn't hook up the overflow drain, they just sealed it completely off. "You don't have to fill the bath tub," is what the maintenance chief said to me. If they don't have to get their rent checks, sure. Also, the water gets shut off here frequently. For the first three or four months I lived here, it was getting shut off once or twice a week. It's now a bit better, usually just once a month, but they no longer give notices, meaning we have no idea when they're shutting it off. The faucets shoot out brown water after most shut-offs, so who knows how clean the water is at any time. Further... The ventilation fan in my bathroom - which cannot be turned off - was filthy and overloaded with gunk, causing it to make an annoying whirring noise, but when I asked the maintenance staff to clean it I was told to just take a vacuum to it. There's more! When Windsor Ridge decided to re-pave their parking lot, they didn't expend any effort finding a place for everyone to park their cars during the process. They simply towed away anyone still parked. I find it hard to believe anyone would give this place a five-star rating without getting compensated to do it. Maybe it's their first apartment. Windsor Ridge feels like living in poverty.
I've been living here for the past 10 months and so far its been pretty great. The management is responsive, the rent payments are online, maintenance service is prompt. The only shortcomings are that they increase rent by ~10% every year, and the walls are paper thing, so you can hear-through
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The apartment is nice, it's a two story loft.
LOVE our apartment. The pantry is amazing! It fits so much stuff, and then the cabinet space in the kitchen is just as amazing. I actually have a few cabinets I didn't know what to put in them! The apartment is very nice as well, from the floors to the high ceilings. My boyfriend, son, and myself have loved the place! The staff has also been great! The only main problem is the lack of getting our packages. They get lost a lot, or get delivered to the apt complex across the street. But that isn't anything to do with the staff/apartment. That is the mail service.
The apartment I has was a 2 Bedroom and 1 Bath apartment. 2 members shared the apartment so it good for me. The bathroom has 2 doors, one opens in the master bedroom and the other opens in the corridor. Good things about the apartment is that it has a in house laundry. Good thing about the community is its swimming pool (warm and cold both, till 5 foot max) and the parking. There will be plenty of space for your guests to park their vehicles. Sometime I hear noise of people walking on the apartment above but it is nothing un-bearable. The apartment seemed to be newly build with all the appliances in good condition. There is also a small walking closet opening in the master bed room which is nice because it keeps your bedroom from getting over crowded with stuff. We haven't had to contact the property management much for any repairs. The management is good with giving up heads up for when mantainance activities have to take place in the community. The surroundings are also good with 7-11 just across the road and Sunnyvale downtown at about 1 mile from the place (I have walked couple of times). I would refer this community to someone who can afford it.
Our unit is updated, although I know there are others in the complex that are still rather outdated. We also are lucky to have access to the garage under our building. It's rare, but we have a nice little storage room with a washer and dryer. I do have to say that I haven't really had much of an issue with noise. Our unit faces an abandoned commercial building which only recently began to have some demolition going on, but otherwise the walls are pretty good at insulating interior noise. We haven't had to contact the property management much for any repairs, there were only a few frustrating times like when they changed the garage code without telling us, so we couldn't get out until the next business day. And they shut off the water almost monthly, but aside from that, can't complain much. The demographic is decent, more of a family atmosphere and there is a nice patio and pool area that's not heavily used. Close to downtown Sunnyvale and downtown Mountain View which is great. Like many other places in the area, it's too expensive for what you get. We have a small 1 bedroom and rent is going up by 200/month on our next lease, which we won't renew.
