From white-water rafting on the Cheat River to rock climbing at Coopers Rock to shopping for antiques, there's good reason Morgantown is the most popular destination in West Virginia -- add in West Virginia University and the reasons just become more impressive. Morgantown, situated along the Monongahela River, provides stunning views of the Appalachian Mountains -- especially from vantage points like Dorsey Knob. This park covers 71 acres, and the mountain is 1,398 feet high.
Considered a top-ranking research university, WVU was established in 1867 and features several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Residents of Morgantown can visit the university's Core Arboretum, which is free and open to the public. Residents can also cheer on the West Virginia Mountaineers at various sports events. The Mountaineers compete in NCAA Division I as part of the Big 12 Conference.

Property Ratings at Windwood Place
I have absolutely adored my time at Windwood. Management and maintenance is the best I’ve ever rented with and the units are great and well-maintained. The price is a steal for how good these apartments are. Although it’s close to campus, it’s mostly graduate students or older individuals so it’s quiet and serene. I’ve lived here for a year and I would absolutely be living here longer if I wasn’t moving out of state. Definitely recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about our experience living at Windwood. A friend of mine (who lived at Windwood for four years before leaving WV) was living here before I did, and every time we talked about it, I was jealous. When a unit became available, I jumped at the chance! Everyone who works here is so friendly and timely with their help. We rarely needed anything, but when we did, it was minor and addressed quickly. The apartments are well-maintained, and this was by far my favorite apartment I had while in Morgantown. As a graduate student, finding a comfortable, maintained, and well-priced place was hard, but Windwood ticked all the boxes! Honestly, we would not have left if we had stayed in WV.
I lived in Windwood through the end of undergraduate school through law school. The property was always maintained, ownership was very kind and responsive, and units were just what I needed. My apartment was very close to all major activities that Morgantown has to offer, but conveniently located in an area that allowed for peace and quiet for my studies. Great property, great staff, great people!
I work for a travel healthcare company and was in town for a short-term contract job. They provided a clean, comfortable furnished apartment with a lease to fit my needs at a reasonable price because everything was included, utilities, cable, internet, linens, cookware, dishes, even some cleaning supplies. All I needed to bring was my clothes and buy some food! If I had a question, I called the office or sent an email and was quickly contacted with an answer. The complex is beautifully landscaped and maintained and very quiet. There is no pool, so that probably cuts down on the noise. I would recommend this rental for all older adults, young adults, college students who don't throw big parties at home, and traveling professionals. Not so much for young children...not a lot of room for them to play in yards. Other than that, it's awesome!
I have lived here for the past two years and have had nothing but a great experience. The buildings and property are all very clean. Quiet, family-freindly neighborhood. Would strongly recommend anybody looking for an affordable place to consider Windwood.
Lived in a Windwood Place property during my short stay at WVU as an instructor from 2011 - 2013. Couldn't of been more pleased. Upscale for a "college town", private, quite, and majority of those around my building (700) were other local professionals. Any issues that arouse maintenance was quick to respond. Overall 5 star experience! Recommend to a few other friends as well before leaving.
This is my second year living in this property. Hands down one of the best living facilities I have ever rented from. I would definitely recommend it to other individuals looking for a clean, affordable housing option in Morgantown.
Property Manager at Windwood Place, Responded To This Review
Thank you for leasing and staying at Windwood Place.
They claim that they have only graduate students or professional people, which is not true. We had noise issues with our neighbors and of course they did not do anything. The people who are living next to us were noisy and the management did not do anything about it. They claim they have a strong policy regarding the noise, but its not true. Very pricy for what they offer you. I would pay that money if they choose carefully the people who are living in this community. All units are small sizes. Lived there in 2015
