As one of the major economic centers of Alabama and one of the signature cities of the Southeast, Birmingham has done an impressive job of adapting to the new demands of the 21st century. The city that once built a reputation as the “Pittsburgh of the South” thanks to a robust steel manufacturing industry is now a hip community attracting entrepreneurs, artists, and innovative personalities. Birmingham remains one of the most active business hubs in the region, with headquarters for everything from banks to biotech firms operating in the city.
The dining, nightlife, and entertainment scenes have all grown rapidly in recent years, and just about everyone in town has an opinion about where to find the best brewery. Gorgeously preserved historic buildings and a pervasive attitude of down-home hospitality have kept Birmingham’s famous southern charm intact as well, creating a unique environment where the best elements of the traditional and the modern complement each other.

Property Ratings at Wood Springs
I have been living at Wood Springs for over a year now and wouldn't call any other place home. The office was very helpful when it came to any concerns with my apartment and they handled my maintenance issues quick and swift to repair. Steven is a angel from above since he came on as property manager, he takes all resident concerns to heart and goes above and beyond. I will forever recommend Wood Springs Apartments to all my friends and family! You cannot find a better place on Hwy 280!
Life at Wood Springs this past two years have been peaceful and quiet. The location is the best area on Hwy 280, easy access to Hwy 280, especially being connected to access behind Grandview to by-pass all the 280 traffic! The girls in the office, Ashley and Kate, we very kind and handled all my concerns! I'm glad to call Wood Springs my home!

Thank you for the kind words and amazing 5 star review! We are so glad you love your home and hope you stay with us for years to come!
Where to begin? 1) I’ll start with the grounds. The pool is a malaria outbreak waiting to happen. Large pile of years old debris near the pool area is a breeding ground for all types of unwanted creatures. 2) Water leaks are a continuous problem. No notifications when water is going to be off. My place in particular seemed to have a tributary of the Cahaba flowing in the parking lot and under my vehicle daily. 3) Exposed power into main building breakers and AC units. This is a major safety concern for anyone. My industry would shut this place down just with that observation add that to constant water. Next my domicile 1) No carpets were cleaned prior to move in 2) Countertops are painted with typical household paint. Never saw that before moving here. 3) Not even a fresh coat of paint for the walls. I understand I signed the lease and it should fall on me before I sign. 4) watch your step on the stairs. Had to drive all the nails down that had pulled up prior to moving in. And on my last note I’d advise anyone that does sign a lease here turn your notice in that day. I gave a verbal but was out of town to sign my notice and missed their deadline by a few days and it cost me $1000. Just a heads up there are better options in the area. Pay a little more.
I lived in building no 5 and rented a one bedroom from March 2020-June 2023. It was all right and I honestly have few complaints. In truth you are paying for the location and convenience of 280. Not necessarily for the homey experience you hope for with an apartment. But a few key things to note about my experience. Office turnover seems high. No one seems to want to stay or given the corporate nature they are shuffled around the area. Improvements. Forget about them. Seemed to be common areas only and minimal ones to the actual units themselves. But the new toilets were 10 out of 10. Maintenance. They are always SUPER quick and resolved any issues by the EOD. If not call and they send someone the same day. However, it does take three tickets for a full replacement to be made. I personally had some issues with my ice maker, shower, and mailbox. Neighbors. My neighbors were fantastic. We were all respectful and kind to one another. My unit was great, and I loved the floor plan. There were a few things that would have made it better: a screen door for my balcony, a new storage door (mine was damaged by the rain), removing the extra space in the w/d opening. When I left Wood Springs, I did fully clean my unit and did receive my full deposit back. At the end of the day, they will take care of you if you are kind to them. In addition to getting lucky in having a unit with minimal issues upon move-in.

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how we are doing. We are so sorry to see you gave us a 3 star but will definitely take this review to work to do better! As you know all over the country, there have been issues with staffing and unfortunately we are the same. Since we do have other communitues, sometimes employees are promoted to other positions with our company and outsiders sometimes do not see that we do promote from within. We actually have a lot of long time employees within the company and so we def do value our employees! As residents move out, we do have upgrades in alot of our apartment homes. If you are ever in the market for a home again, we would love to show you around as I am sure you will love the new flooring, lites and paint color! We are so happy to hear the maintenance always took care of you and that you loved your neighbors! Again, thanks for giving us a review!
The office staff, management, and maintenance teams are all so kind! They clearly care about making this place a home, and I trust them to keep this community safe, clean, and comfortable to live in. I am super excited to try out the new fitness center!

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about Wood Springs Apartments! We cannot wait to pass along your kind words to the on site team!
water is constantly turned off without notice, management rarely answers phones/emails, will make you move out prior to the intended end of lease date, maintenance takes forever to fix issues
Worst apartment development with unprofessional management. They don’t respond to tenant needs. I have a raccoon living in my attic that they sealed in. He can’t get out, and they won’t allow wildlife in to remove. The manager is the absolute worst and very incompetent. Unfortunately, my lease isn’t null until a few months.
Heather was extremely rude and made us feel unwelcomed before our applications were even processed. It was apparent from the beginning that she didn’t truly want us living at woodsprings. Telling me that I had to prove that my income wasn’t drug money after I stated I made my income in tips? A little unprofessional if you ask me. Her and the property manager refuse to give back $300 in admin fees for applications that were never even processed. They told us that it was past the 72 hour deadline (one day past to be exact). It was never stated that there was a deadline. Heather told us in person that we would be refunded the $300 back after it was processed to my current address then called less than 10 minutes after we left stating that we in fact would not be receiving our money back. Correct me if I’m wrong, but $420 is a lot to lose over unprocessed applications at a joke of an apartment complex.
I was so excited to move in. Until they lied about our lease. We were told 250 off December rent well that was a lie. Do it look I need a hand out NO.! Then going to call me a liar . If you didn’t say it why would I bring it up. Simple. Because you said it.I just want you to do what you say you are going to do. So I would advise you not to move here. LIARS AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don’t get me started on their ridiculous renter insurance. I should have seen that as a red flag ??. Good luck Signed A MAD Newly resident

I just moved to Wood Springs about a month ago and I’m really enjoying living here so far.. The environment is so peaceful and quiet.. neighbors are friendly and the office staff is outstanding.. Whenever I have a question or something that need to be done I can always call and the pro will be taken care of immediately.. The staff is always concerned and eager to help with any situation that arises.. So happy to be a part of the Wood Springs residence.. Moving here was the best decision and I don’t regret it..
Honestly best apartment experience we've had! This place was a safe haven for us after we had to make a quick move because of a disaster. The apartments are nice and quiet and the staff really makes this place amazing! They treated us like friends and were always so helpful with anything we needed. The location is great as there is quick access to anything you'll need (shopping, food, interstate) and it's tucked back so it's still quiet. The apartments are nice and spacious and we never had any issues! The prices are great too! We didn't want to move but our jobs unfortunately took us away from Birmingham. They even helped us try to find a place in the town we were moving to. I seriously can't say enough about the great experience we had here. I would 100% recommend living here!
Management (steven, that's you, man.) across as a hardworking dedicated individual, which he is... when it come to bring in money for the complex. Be it keeping "administrative fees" (separate from application fees) from potential residents, charging illegal fines to attempt to pay for the recurring water issues they have, or taking a commission off of towed vehicles from the complex, he's a money making machine. he's just not working for you. as for water issues, believe what you read. I've had sewage smelling gray/black water come out of my faucet somehow. within a week my entire building got fines for complaints nobody filed. cars started getting 24hr warnings for getting towed. when asked about it, management (still you, lower case steven) said, "it's really just to get people's attention." sure. I like how the pool closes, but the water park is year round!
I don’t advise anyone to move here. The outdated apartments are way too expensive. This place is cheap. There is always a water issue which causes us to go without water for hours at a time. It is currently 8:35 pm and we have been without water FOR THE 10th TIME in a 1 year span for HOURS. Don’t do it. Please.
DONT LIVE HERE, YOULL REGRET IT!! This is by far the worst apartment experience I’ve ever had. When i moved in on a sunday, the toilet had pee in it and wouldn’t flush, the shower knob was completely missing, the kitchen and bathroom were filthy, and there were scratches all over the wall in the bedroom. My mom asked if any one had done a move in inspection and was told yes ??. They also said they don’t like people moving in on weekends bc maintenance isnt there. My toilet was broken for the first 3 days I lived there followed by my shower breaking for 3 days after that. My toilet broke 4 other times during the year that I lived there and that wasn’t the worst of it...I also had 4 major floods which mostly happen in the middle of the night and then fans and dehumidifiers for days after that. They had to repair the ceiling and wall multiple times which made my apartment resemble a kill room scene from dexter. It also sounded like a wind tunnel for days at a time. I was not compensated anything in return. Icing on the cake was when I was moving they charged me for the blinds in the den that looked like they had chew marks from a dog. I never had an animal in the apartment but the neighbors told me 3 dogs lived there before I did. They charged me for the new blinds bc they didn’t have a record of the the move in inspection saying they were damaged before I lived there so yeah...DONT LIVE HERE, YOULL REGRET IT!!!
Wood Springs is close to everything!!! Target is my 2nd home and I love that it is so convenient! They are managed by the same company of the community in Gulf Shores and they are both so awesome!!
So somehow managed to lock myself out of my apt and was at a loss of what to do. I asked a neighbor for help and they sweetly helped me more than I could have asked for. Then I knocked on my managers door in the middle of the evening and he so greatly opened my door without any problems and did it with a smile! This place is great and willing to help any newbie out!
Steven is the best. He was the Assistant manager when I first moved in and now is the property manager! Daya is always so excited and very helpful. This location is amazing. I work downtown and there are multiple routes I can take to work
I absolutely love my new apartment complex! The transition has been seamless! I love the space, and most of all I love the staff. Daya is honestly A1! Anything I need, she is quick to do or find a solution. The staff is always asking if there is anything that they can do for me. I highly recommend giving Wood Springs a try!

When we moved out after 3 years, we thought we had developed a great relationship with the manager, Holly. She did our walk through and said everything looked great. She went as far to say “you guys left it in way better shape than most people”. A month after we have been gone, we receive a statement in the mail saying they are withholding $115 of our $150 deposit. $50 for carpet cleaning, $25 for a damaged cabinet (that we asked her about on the walk through specifically), and $40 for “one broken mini blind” which was thoroughly inspected on the walk through with no damage notated. I have requested photos of the alleged damaged and have not received any response from them whatsoever. Do not live here.

This place has gone down completely since I moved in about 4/5years ago and this will be our last year here. The first 2 years were ok. Then there were drastic changes in management. We have seen at least 2 or 3 management changes in the last two years at least. And the staff is like a revolving door, there's a new person every 5/6 months. We can hardly remember their names, because of how often they hire and fire people at the front office. Then there is the management of the property, my fiancé and I got married going into our 2.5 half year here, our neighbors moved out and had dogs with flees. They removed the Carpet and placed it right in front of our doorway and our home was invested with flees. We actually had to leave the home and have the place bombed, twice, before we got rid of them. When my husband took up two vacant parking spots far away from the apartment homes in the car wash area, that is always vacant and has plenty of extra parking. One of the staff had the audacity to tell him they are for guests mind you we are on the 3rd level and people never use the car wash area to park because there are always plenty of spaces in front of their actual homes. When we complained about how they treat tenants and the filth down by the car wash area they actually found a reason to try to make us pay more money. When we were never late and have paid on time for years saying, my husband, was not on the lease and asking for $50 extra dollars. The management is nasty and cruel and are not interested in keeping the facilities updated or clean. The gym & laundry facilities are outdated, unclean and dilapidated. They don't even have a television or radio system in the gym like most facilities come equipped with. Men & women have to share the same disgusting gym & swimming area bathroom. And the pool area doesn't even have a remodeled grill or seating area for functions like most updated luxury apartment communities. Lastly tenants don't have access to the car wash area to clean or vacuum out their cars. The maintenance guys have completely taken over the area and turned it into a hang out where they dump old sofas, furniture,& trash. Do yourself a favor Do Not Rent with WoodSprings Apartments 280!! You can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. The staff does not value long time tenants and is not interested in proper upkeep of the grounds and facilities.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us at Wood Springs Apartments. We're happy we could meet your expectations!
DO NOT MOVE HERE! This is the worst apartment community on 280! It's old and needs renovating bad. They have major problems with bugs, raccoons, and mold. It takes them forever to get simple work orders completed. The office staff are very fake and rude. The owning company are very cheap. They can't seem to keep the same staff for any reasonable amount of time. Parking is horrible. Lastly, any bad review that's out there is 100% true!

The manager, Katie, and asst. manager, Desiree, were notified 30 days prior to my desired move-in date. This date was verified MANY times throughout those 30 days, both in person and via phone. The day before moving day, Desiree called me informing me that the apt. was not going to be ready until that afternoon because the carpet still needed cleaning. I had already scheduled a moving company to arrive that morning as well as made arrangements for my W/D to be delivered. Movers have to be contacted 4-6 weeks in advance for any changes. Desiree and Katie assured me all that was still in need of completion was housekeeping and carpet cleaning. Once I explained my concerns about the move-in, Desiree told me that the carpet cleaners would be there at 9:30 and be finished by 10:00. She assured me that I could move all of my belongings immediately after. The next day, the movers showed up promptly; however, the housekeepers and carpet cleaners were still in the apt. They did not finish until 10:45. Then, I was informed by Katie that my movers needed to place my furniture on foam pads because the carpet was still wet and would take 3 hours to dry. My movers had to place all of my boxes outside on the porch because we could not put anything on the carpet. When we walked inside to complete the walk-thru, it was clear that NUMEROUS repairs still needed to be done. My bathroom was completely missing the faucet and shower head (holes were in the tile in place of them) - completely inoperable until repaired. It took MUCH longer than 3 hours for the carpet to dry. Housekeeping finished up hurriedly (it was evident they had not been given ample time to clean due to the frantic and surprised looks on their faces). They apparently were unaware that movers, the W/D deliverymen, and I were in the parking lot WAITING to move. All of this was AFTER I had promptly completed paperwork and submitted all required payments for move-in. I did EVERYTHING I could have possibly done to be compliant throughout the entire process. I was assured, by Katie, that any parts and materials that were needed would be ordered that day and fixed immediately. NOT TRUE!!! They tell you whatever they can to pacify you and get you off the phone or out of their office. Everything they have told me has either been contradictory or misleading. They act nice to your face but are completely unwilling to help, get things done, or follow through with the promises. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PROPERTY!!!

Dear Resident, I sincerely apologize for the miscommunication regarding your move-in date. We strive to make sure that apartments are 100% ready for our new residents. I believe that all of the items have since been corrected since the day of your move-in. Please contact our team at the office if there is anything that we can do for you or if you ever need any repairs made. We look forward to servicing your apartment promptly and making the rest of your stay with us a pleasing one. Thank you, Wood Springs Apartments Management 205-991-6219
We applied to Wood Springs and gave our security deposit and application fee to the office staff. A week later we still could not get a status on the application and was repeatedly told the "district manager" takes care of it. One excuse after the other and finally, yesterday we were told that Transunion didn't have a record for one of us (even though a car and credit cards are on there). After calling Transunion, they said it was impossible and it had to be a problem on their end. If getting the run around and being lied to (a week later) is how these people operate, can you imagine what it will be like living there? No thanks, got the check back and will find somewhere else where professionalism and courtesy comes first. Shameful.

Hello customer, The Wood Springs management team's goal is to process applications of future residents within 72 hours. This includes running a criminal background check and credit check, completing a rental reference, and verifying income. Typically, the credit and criminal checks come back immediately, however, in some instances, the process can take many days for a number of reasons. As the credit and criminal checks are completed by a third party, we are unable to push the process through faster. I apologize that this process caused frustration, however, we must properly qualify our residents to ensure that we have a nice community for our residents to call home. Thank you, Wood Springs Apartments Management
I have lived here for 3 years and it is NOT what they advertise. The parking is horrible. If you come home after 6pm, there will be no where to park unless you park by the office and then have to walk a great distance to your apartment. The office staff is a joke except for the office manager. They have replaced the staff three times! When you call about a problem, they will get an attitude with you and even lie. Now the maintenance guys have gotten better but it was a struggle to get anything fixed here with the old crew. We have had to have our A/C, garbage disposal, toilet, refrigerator and our dishwasher replaced due to those items being so old they died on us and it wasnt bad they died but the time it took to replace these items went by for MONTHS as in 3 to 6 months, we also had three floods from the upstairs apartment that has caused damage to our ceilings and walls and has dripped into our carpets, there is an over abundance of ant issues, the pest control people are never helpful, some of the neighbors are just nasty with letting their animals potty on the back porch and letting that stuff fall through to lower level porches or they dont clean up after their pets when walking them. I would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy. So do your research and find a way better place. Im so glad my family has bought our own house now.

I've only been here for two weeks but I'm already super pleased with my new apartment! The people have been so friendly, and a human answers the phone every time you call. I've had one maintenance issues and they came out right away. The community is very pretty, but my favorite thing is the location. So close to everything, but also tucked away in a beautiful wooded area by the Cahaba River.

Overall, I've been very pleased with my time at Wood Springs. PROs: - The office staff is helpful and friendly. - The pool is actually properly maintained. - It's within walking distance to a bowling alley, great restaurants, Target, Best Buy, World Market... - My air went out on one of those super hot Alabama summer days... had it fixed within an hour by their excellent on-site staff. CONs: - This rental company plays by the BOOK... unless it benefits them not to, so you have to stay on your toes. - I get paid twice a month, and they want their money in total by the fifth or they tack on late charges... no questions asked -- you just expect it. Their lack of flexibility in this regard made it very difficult to manage my money.

I had applied at Wood Springs and was having some issues with some of the requirements but the lady that talked with me on the phone was rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend these apartments to anyone. Very unhappy with the service

I would like apologize for your previous experience. I'm the new Community Manager, Jennifer as of October 2015. Please come back in or call for any concerns or issues. We'll be more than happy to assist you.
The apartment itself has a good open layout, but does not have any updated appliances or finishes. There seems to be a disconnect between work orders placed in the office and the maintenance workers doing anything. The community manager is really nice and easy to talk to, however, nothing every gets done.

the apartment itself has a decent layout, but is sadly lacking in storage space. The appliances are in dire need of an update, the maintenance staff is reluctant to fulfill any work orders submitted, and the office staff is far from helpful. In summary not the best place, but conveniently located.
