The Remington Park neighborhood lies just south of the 289 Loop and about eight miles from Downtown Lubbock. This small, mostly residential enclave gets its name from the city park located within its borders. Modest single-family homes are the norm in the neighborhood, with a couple of apartment complexes on the northern periphery and to the south. The residential mix attracts renters on a budget as well as families who appreciate the nearby amenities and convenient proximity to the Loop who are looking for a bit more space. The commuter crowd will be well taken care of thanks to the nearby thoroughfares, while those looking for more bang for their buck near Lubbock will find their perfect home here.

Property Ratings at Woodcrest Apartments
First off let me say I’m a graduate college student who moved here because of the low rent and newly updated apartments. My experience with Woodcrest has been poor over the course of the 2 years I have lived here. I’ll break my review into 3 main complaints. Maybe your experience will differ from mine, but be wary of renting from here. Many places in Lubbock are around this price point that if I were to have lived here again, I would have chosen before here. Maintenance: Spent my first summer and 3/4s my second summer with no AC. The unit would freeze and maintenance took over a year to get the problem sorted out. Spent last summer with days where the inside temp exceeded 90 degrees. Had a condenser unit that ran constantly and froze because of a bad coil which cost me $150 a month in electric, when no AC was coming through. When I first moved in the hot water valve for the washing machine hookup was broken and capped off instead of properly fixed resulting in hot water burning me and flooding the utility room on the day a moved in. Had to shut of the hot water at the water heater and when emergency maintenance showed up, they said “well it’s fixed now” and left after they saw we had shut off the water and had 1” of water on the floor of the utility room. Noise: Neighbors have dogs that bark all day and all night long. Also, neighbors that have a subwoofer that constantly play music through it all throughout the day and all throughout the night. You’ll hear stuff outside fairly loud too because of the poor seals on the doors. This is especially an issue during COVID where most of my college work is completed from home. I can hardly do my work at home because of the noise, leading me to often go elsewhere to study or read. Not what you would normally consider from somewhere you call home. Contact with property: I’ve emailed the property multiple times with my complaints and needs for service (such as my air conditioning issues) with no response. You can call or go to the front desk to get them to send maintenance out, but does no better than when you put in a request through the app. The property manager has little/no regard and does little to help the renters who pay on time every month and are courteous to the apartment community. It seems many people who live here decide to leave after a year or two (as most of my neighbors have changed since I have lived here), and there is probably good reason for that.

Every resident is important and we are sincerely sorry that you have experienced a problem. Summertime in Texas can be tough on AC units and we recommend running the cool setting about 20 degrees lower than the outside temperature. This will keep the unit from freezing. We apologize for the slow response regarding maintenance requests. During peak seasons like the summer, we can get backed up with maintenance requests and part orders. The resident portal is the best way to submit work orders. We encourage residents to speak with neighbors regarding the noise level before bringing it to management. This improves the level of community in our complex and helps you get to know you neighbors!
These apartments are perfect for granting your ‘peace and quiet’ wish. I have polite neighbors that never make a peep, and they keep to themselves. Maintenance is quick to fix any problem you have. They’ve never let me down with any problem I experienced here. Office staff is strict to follow the rules, professional and extremely polite. They’re also very considerate of your time. The office closes at 530 but when I was applying some of the ladies stayed past closing to allow me to come sign my lease once approved. Most apartments would’ve said “sayonara see yah tomorra”. The property is kept up with, always looks nice, along with the two gorgeous swimming pools they have that in the summer time are always clean and ready for splash fun. Apartments are affordable and well layed out. I definitely recommend these apartments.

We enjoy having you here. We have been actively working on making improvements for our residents and are happy to see that they're being noticed. We appreciate you taking the time to give us positive feedback and we look forward to many more good experiences.
After living here through two summers, I can now verify what I initially thought last summer: don't choose these apartments unless you like to have your apartment above 85 degrees during the summer, and / or you like to pay over $200 a month in electricity to keep it at that temperature. I had maintenance come and look at our air conditioning, and everything is working as much as it is supposed to, but still, our apartment, as well as those of our neighbors, could not get below 80 degrees. During the day, it would get up to 90 degrees. I used to work in the HVAC field, and was able to perform my own tests on the air conditioning, and it is actually working as it should. My only conclusion is there is NO insulation in the exterior walls, which would also explain why it gets so cold in our apartment during the winter. We had to run our A/C almost non stop to try to keep the apartment bearable, which means around 80 / 85 degrees during the day, and barely dropping to 75 at night. So this means our bill with the electric company was around $250 a month all summer, and during the winter it is around $150. In comparison, my friends, who have a 1300 sq. ft. house (compared to our 900 sq. ft. apartment) is able to keep their house at 68 degrees during the summer, and pay only $75 a month for electricity. I had put in multiple maintenance requests for this problem, but he only came out once, promising to get the insulation in the ceiling, but never came back. I would not recommend these apartments for this reason alone. The rent may be cheaper than some, but when you take into account how much electricity is to try to keep the apartment at a decent temperature, it's not worth it.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at Woodcrest. We are sorry that it has been less than stellar, but we will get someone to insulate around your air ducts. We do not insulate the entire ceilings, so I apologize if there was some confusion. If you have any other issues that need addressed, please let us know. Sincerely, Kerri Regional Manager
Woodcrest is located in southwest Lubbock, minutes from South Plains Mall, tons of restaurants, access to the loop, and two pools and some covered parking. Great floor plans, with fireplaces and either a balcony or patio space, washer/dryer hookups (in an actual laundry room, not closet) and decent sized kitchens with lots of cabinet space. The staff is friendly and the maintenance is very helpful. It's a great place to live in an awesome location, it could just use a little updating.

We moved from Lynwood Townhomes in Lubbock to Woodcrest apartments. It is very affordable and comes with some paid utilities. It is very quiet and pleasant. There's never a whole lot of noise from the street. The neighbors are friendly and pretty quiet. The apartment is spacious enough for what we need and well taken care of before we rented it. My wife is happy with the size of the walk-in closet. Appreciate the helpfulness apartments.com offers. I am thankful for websites like apartments.com!
