Paw Paw (named for the pawpaw trees that used to grow along the river) is located in the heart of Michigan's wine country, roughly halfway between Lake Michigan and Kalamazoo. The northern part of the village is divided by Maple Lake, a large lake popular for boating, fishing, and jet-skiing. Maple Island, a large park in the middle of the lake, provides a great destination with picnic areas, a playground, and activities like fishing, boating, and swimming.
Being in the heart of wine country, Paw Paw is home to the St. Julian Winery and Warner Vineyards, both located along South Kalamazoo Street. Paw Paw has a terrific downtown shopping district, filled with restaurants, antique stores, and boutiques. Other great destinations include Busy Bea Flea Mall, Brookside Farms (a pick-your-own blueberry farm), the Almena Farmers Market, and the Paw Paw Brewing Company Production House.

Property Ratings at Woodfield Apartment Homes
They flat out refuse to fix anything from drafty windows to a heater going out in the middle of winter while you have children in the home. Issues have been escalated from property manager to property owner with no resolution, even getting the city involved does little in getting issues fixed. Repeatedly told that maintinence is to busy flipping other apartments for new renters to be bothered to fix my "non issues" which have included mold growth due to faulty equipment, lack of working appliances and large cracks in ceiling that are forming holes (among other things). Renters smoke weed and let their animals go crazy (barking for hours on end, hallways smelling of cat urine, dogs pooping on the lawn) car stereos blast thru the complex at all hours and nothing is ever done. STAY AWAY!
There is a train that runs next to the complex, ask them about that before you move in. They sure as heck won't tell you about it. The train was right next to us and when we found out they would not move us. Also, our master bedroom was missing a overhead light/fan. Make sure you ask about everything in the apt before you sign a lease because they will not work with you once you sign and request a walk-through. Read the contract well. There is a $115 late charge if you are 6 days late. Make sure you ask about the cable. They say it is $99 dollars with trash pick-up but there is an extra $17 dollar charge for move than local channels (non-HD). The grounds are well-maintained but that's about the only thing good I can say about the apartment. I do not recommend.
This has been the friendliest, most willing to work with me and my family apartment. The workers here stop and talk to you asking how you are doing. My son always says hi to them and whenever we have had a problem, it has been taken care of, even though it was not office hours. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I'm happy with my experience here and am saddened at the thought of moving somewhere else.
