Property Ratings at Woodlake Apartments
The property was nice, there are always employees around, you will see the workers' trucks circling, the trucks sit in parking lots, waiting for work to do. The problem is that the walls are so thin that you can hear all of your neighbors conversations. I would not blame the noise on loud neighbors, you can hear absolutely EVERYTHING and that is a structural issue. The grounds are beautiful and there are always people walking around.

I don't even know where to begin! I will start by saying it has been a rough couple of years due to a situation with an upstairs neighbor who is an insomniac . The staff was very patient when I would call and explain how disruptive this was to me on a daily basis and how the lack of sleep was affecting my health. After many attempts by the staff here to remedy the situation to no avail, I decided although I did not want to leave my beautiful apartment that for the sake of my health, I needed to move. I was devastated because I was totally happy with my apartment and the location to all shopping etc. as well as at least 4 other neighbors that I enjoyed living near and an impeccable maintenance crew. The staff here is exceptional and extremely professional and no one is paying me to say this!! I was overwhelmed at how they jumped into action to secure me another location here at Wood lake apartments and I am not exaggerating . They worked tirelessly to help me feel comfortable in my new settings. It actually brought me to tears of relief after having to deal with the stress of the situation as well as the decline in my health. It has profoundly changed my view of large apartment complexes as well as restored my faith in humanity! If you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing ,wonderfully maintained place to live with a maintenance staff who answer their calls promptly and courteously as well as work hard outdoors in all types of weather to maintain the beauty of the grounds, this is where you want to live. Also, a perfectly located apartment with an exceptional group of on site office personnel, who are genuinely devoted to their renters. I highly recommend Wood Lake because of the office staff and maintenance crew. The rents are also fair market value and include many amenities. For all of these reasons I am giving Wood Lake this 5 star" PLUS" review!

Overall, these apartments are decent for what they are... if you don't mind buildings that aren't brand new or fit and finishes that aren't up-to-date. The location is great being right off Rt. 20 and I87, but that's about it. Parking is atrocious: you have to constantly fight in order to get a space near your building because spaces are unassigned - except for those in the carports, and you share the same lot with several other buildings in the inner area of the complex so those people always park closest to their buildings and then the space by your front door is always taken. (I got to the point where I left only when I had to otherwise I'd be walking a good 400 feet to get home with groceries). Kitchens are pretty much useless, with no storage space or room to work. If two people are trying to prepare or clean up, be prepared to tuck in your bellies and move out of the way due to there being no space... did I mention there's no space? Furnace and AC are constantly running due to poor insulation and inefficient HVAC systems (yes, ours was updated when the apartment was updated before we moved in). Fit and finish leaves a bit to be desired... when they redid our apartment, the paint job on the walls didn't look too good, and it was on the carpet in some places. Carpets are low-pile, commercial grade stuff which looks and feels cheap. Kitchen cabinets, while new, were installed poorly and didn't align. They promised us a redone bathroom, but all that was replaced was the toilet and floor... vanity, bathtub, and light fixtures were all original from whenever the place was built. The grounds and complex are very nice, having a park-like feeling with plenty of room to walk without being in traffic. Pool and tennis courts are nice but with COVID going on, the pool wasn't worth it due to all of the stuff TriCity put people through to get a pass. Working with TriCity rentals was a nightmare, and unfortunately they manage a lot of the apartment complexes in the Capital District... upper management doesn't care about tenant complaints. Overall, location is key... if this was a new complex the prices would be astronomical.

Going on my third year and I couldn't be more pleased. Woodlake is very close to almost anywhere you'd ever need to go, but set back and very scenic. There's plenty to keep you busy between the gym, pools, and tennis courts. Maintenance has always been quick to respond, and the office staff are always professional. The grounds are well kept, with decent snow removal in the winter. Cant beat the place for the price.

I lived in Woodlake for 2 years with two cats. $1060 rent plus cat fee. Apartment was not updated: formica counters, old fridge, rusty dishwasher, antiquated appliances (not in a quaint way). But rent was very fair, considering. Pros: safe, quiet, common areas very well maintained, general maintenance is impressively prompt and responsive. Parking is easy. Heating/cooling system worked great. Water pressure in the shower also very good. Gym is small but nice. tennis courts. Cons: major mold issues. Apartment was always dank, smelled moldy, I started developing a chronic nasal congestion issue that only went away (within a WEEK) of moving out!! Yikes. Laundry machines were hit or miss. Biggest caveat, folks, is that Woodlake will charge you a shockingly exorbitant penalty of $600 for alleged "carpet damage" if there are any pulls in the carpet from your cats whatsoever. Some amount of wear and tear is to be expected with pets and general living, but you will be politely directed to the lease that states that tenant is responsible for any damage incurred by your beloved pets. And it's their call what they consider "damage." For $600, you might consider simply renting a more expensive apartment that doesn't have wall to wall carpeting if you have pets.
Woodlake Apartments is a gorgeous apartment community set far enough back from main roads to ensure that you will enjoy the many lakes and wooded paths in peace and quiet, yet located 5 minutes from anything you'd need (highway access to I-90/I-87, grocery stores, restaurants, banks, dry cleaners, gyms, pharmacies, and more). The property management staff is incredible - friendly, responsive, and courteous. The apartments themselves are fully renovated, modern, spacious, and offer a suite of amenities to suit your style (fireplaces, lakeside patios, sunlit balconies...). Great for young couples and young professionals looking for luxury living and convenience at an affordable price.
Woodlake apartments has been a great place to live because it's quiet, has easy access to the high way and the buildings as well as the landscape are maintained beautifully. I have never had any safety concerns. There are multiple pools and tennis courts available to use and the staff is always friendly - even when you lock yourself out at 7 in the morning. When I moved in they installed all new utilities and hardwood flooring. This place has been perfect for my first apartment. My only dislikes are that no one socializes with their neighbors here and they only seem to have one BBQ a year to get to know people. Lastly I dislike how you cannot get out of the year lease by paying a certain cost- you have to find someone to sublet or you have to pay full rent for the remainder of the lease regardless of your situation.
