Stretching from Silver Strand State Beach to the mountains of the Otay Open Space Preserve, Chula Vista lives up to its name, which is Spanish for “beautiful view.” In between the Pacific coast and the mountains, you’ll discover hills, canyons, and miles of hiking trails. This city celebrates its diversity and its history, which dates back before Spanish exploration in the 1500s. The area that is now Chula Vista was part of a land grant in 1795, and eventually became a part of the US (with the rest of California) in the mid-1800s. The city finally incorporated in 1911.
Lemons play a role in Chula Vista’s history, as it became the world’s lemon-growing hub in the late 1800s and is still known as the “Lemon Capital of the World.” While you likely won’t find too many lemon trees today, you will discover more than 60 beautiful parks and a variety of outdoor activities ranging from swimming and surfing to hiking and mountain biking.

Property Ratings at Woodlawn Gardens Apartments
We have lived here for over 5 years now. Krystina, the manager, is very nice, helpful and easy to talk to. If there are any issues, she tries her best to help out in any way she can. It’s a great place for kids and the school is just a few steps away. We are close to the mall, yummy food spots and trolley. Overall, this is a nice place to live.

Hi, thank you for sharing this positive review about your experience with our community! Here at Woodlawn Gardens Apartments, we always strive for top-quality service and are glad we could provide it for you.
Worst place to live x2. There’s roaches every time even. I have asked for pest control and it doesn’t work at all. The apartments are very old, starting with the kitchen cabinets, the bath tub, the sinks with oxide. If you want to talk with the manager i hope you have enough patience because they answer the calls after 15 repeatedly times and that if you have luck, office is always close but the manager has an excused for that. There’s no light at the living room so it is always dark at least that you like opening the windows during the day but everyone can see through. There’s never parking at the street so you have to park and walk 1/2 streets and if you want to park at the parking lot you need a parking permit and they ask ridiculously for the car to be under your name and also insurance under your name so it is a lie that the parking is covered under your lease When it rains as soon as you get out of your door it’s all flooded. There’s is no control for who can come into our patio there’s not a gate for the courtyard as it says and the mail box assign its just for letters so if you’re not at home your packages get stolen. They do charge a fee for pets $500 and 50 monthly And there’s much more but I hope this is enough for whoever want to come here

Been in this place for 1 yr place is infested with roaches they sparyed once but that seemed to no do anything but attack more when you walk at night the roaches are all out side. The nice part they allow dogs but unfortunately people dont know how to pick up after there pets Parking is a nightmare not enough spots unless you pay them 50 dollars extra for a small spot and when unget home there is a homeless person passed out in the car port. The laundry room in my unit the roof fell in December 2022 and he's yet to be restored to service. We didn't even get to view a unit before we moved in was apply and take what you get windows were missing most of the screen clips asked mantance for replacement and they said they don't have any they more busy putting made up notices on your door from management saying stuff not allowed when in the lease doesn't say. The cops are at the apartment twice a month form some family drama. When the school year is going leaving in the morning os a nightmare the parents park in the parking lot and drop off in the back for the beautiful 50dollar a month car port caller management about seems like nothing was done. Also don't have a nice car this is a hot spot for stolen cars my truck was stolen from the parking lot and my neighbors car was stolen. When it comes to the unit the kitchen cabinets have about 4 inches of paint on them they even painted the Heater with wall paint so it bubbles up. Heat works when it wants to in the winter but you constantly have to dry off the windows since they are single panel proably original. My refrigerator broke they replaced it from another unit that one was broke all my food went bad they didn't care. Honestly find a better place if you have the money

Moved in 6 months ago and have had so many issues with other tenants since the first month. We’ve brought these issues to management and nothing gets done. Other tenants are loud at all hours of the night, trash is left everywhere and people go threw your laundry and take what they want. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE

The office Ladies are very nice and prompt. Every time I have an issue ( not often) it is addressed right way. I like that they are always friendly even if they have many people in the office at once, they say hi to everyone and make you feel welcome. I had an issue with my mail not being delivered for some reason and they were able to speak to the post man for me since I work during the day and things were resolved. Maintenance is nice and there are new faces that have been seen around the community, some of my neighbors can be a bit disruptive, but if I bring it up to the office , they are quick to address it. I just renewed my lease for another year and am hoping that they will start to remodel the 1 bedrooms here. The 2 bedrooms are beautiful, but it is just myself and I don't need another room. Krystina the manager has been here for awhile now and seems to know everyone and just a pleasure to speak too in the office or when she is out walking around. Vanessa has been here not too long, but is nice and helpful, they work well together. Thank you ladies

The apartments are infested with cockroaches. Our first night here I walked into the kitchen to find like ten of them coming out is the sink. They’ve fumigated one a week for like two months and that didn’t help. I had to stop the move in process because there were all over the rooms/closets. The beginning was so frustrating since I didn’t feel comfortable using the kitchen since it had been fumigated, or unpack because of the cockroaches in the closet. After a while it got better bc we keep the sink from the kitchen and bathroom close at all time, and never leave dirty dishes as well as vacuum and take the trash out every night. But that’s not enough, they keep coming out!
It was my first time ever renting it went really well, :) very very happy! Thank You very much Vanessa and Krystina!

Thank you for such an amazing review! We strive for five! Welcome to the Woodlawn Gardens community.
it is really quite during the day and night. they have been doing work to the courtyards and making the area look a lot better. I enjoy living here and have had no issues with my neighbors or the office staff. They are all very nice and helpful . its nice that the trolley is down the street. I am glad to see new things being done to the apartments. they just painted the apartments and to me, they look so much better. happy resident here
This is a good area near transportation and freeway, quick walk to the mall if you like walking. The common areas are maintained and the people who maintain them are nice to you when they are working.
A picture is worth 1000 words but what comes to mind how old are those pics, this is not a dating website. you do not have to use 5 year old pics to catch a fish. These apartments are under construction, building for a nicer looking community, but these changes are for future tenets not present. the traffic coming and going from a business across the street presents issues. taking our parking spots, noise at all hours and a non-visible security company. I am living on-site for the time being only because I pay rent below market price, but will not pay full price or close to full price for these apartments. yes there are good schools in the surrounding especially at the end of the block, so imagine the traffic trying to leave for work early mornings. Few things, there a few positive things. a new mall with a great movie theater just within walking distance. multiple shops and good dinners. A trolley stop within walking distance also. a new access to marina park which is really nice to ride your bike to and from to watch nice sunsets. If the price was right I would understand but not having a.c. in the units or a pool area where other complex charge the same or a bit more i would say this is a great place at a lower rent price. i did not use 1000 words but i did use enough, I hope this helps a bit......
