Property Ratings at Woodrow Wilson Court
We had to move on short notice, and were approved quickly and painlessly. The cons outweigh the pros of this building: other tenants make drug deals in the lobby, pro or con depending on who you are, the landlord is pretty unresponsive and difficult to get a hold of for repairs, there is a constant leak in the lobby that never gets repaired, the main door to the building frequently gets jammed open, the molding in the apartment itself seems cheaply installed, the doors to rooms are hollow, the refrigerator partially impedes access to the kitchen, the apartment is on limited breakers that trip the basement breaker frequently... I could go one but I'll spare you the details as by now your decision may have been made. The lease claims "no pets allowed," but in New York apartments this is very loose and we've seen many pets in the building so YMMV. The building is an equal walk from two 2/5 stops (about 10 mins), and a slightly longer walk to the Franklin Ave subway (about 15 mins). The landlord, however, is located closest to the Utica Ave 3/4 stop, quite a ways away from the building. While there is an in-building super he is also relatively unresponsive, or unaware of how to make repairs in the building. The price of apartment is also pretty steep when all of the issues listed above are taken into account.
