Property Ratings at Woodside Apartments
STAY AWAY! I've lived in this apartment complex for more than 7 years and have seen it get worse and worse. They change managers CONSTANTLY, if that doesn't tell you something first then here are more reasons not to move here. Parking is an absolute mess, management has 3 covered parking while everyone else has to park so far away from their own unit. I don't know who designed the parking stalls because in some of them you can't fit two cars, which cause parking issues. They have 'semi-annual' inspections every 3 months, yet they don't fix anything. The management is lazy, selfish and harass you. I repeat DO NOT MOVE HERE!
CANNOT wait until Ramona (lease office) leaves. She has no filter when she speaks and uses her position to say and do things that we did not sign in our written lease agreement. We need higher management to acknowledge the problems and find ways to get back to the way it used to be before Ramona and Jennifer joined the leasing office before big Josh was purposely fired from his position. He truly cared about his tenants and tried to find ways to bring Woodside tenants together with fun activities. We feel like we can't bring up problems with Ramona because it will be used against us in some way. Hopefully things change soon. It's time!
I have lived here for over 10 years. The apartments are older so they they are a little out dated, but very cute. I live in a 2 bedroom with 1 and 1/2 bathrooms It's a two story so the kitchen, living room and the 1/2 bathroom is on the first floor. The living rooms are rectangular so they actually fit more furniture than the typical square ones that I have lived in before. The patio is huge! I have a full set of patio furniture and 2 umbrellas. Not to mention a gate that leads to my parking space. This makes it easy to unload groceries and come and go as I please. I think I have only used my front door one time. The Master bedroom is big enough for a queen size bed with a side table on each side. I have a tall chest of drawers to the right of my bed next to the 2 door closet. In front of my bed against the wall I have a 6 drawer dresser and there is another small walk in closet. The smaller bedroom has a queen size bed with a 6 door dresser against the wall and a computer desk. It's not huge but it does fit everything and it has a 2 door closet. Most of the people that live here have been here 10 years or longer. They courteous and do not make a lot of noise. This is a sleep community. So if you think you are going to move in here and start throwing all night parties and playing your stereo extremely loud then this place is not for use and you would probably get kicked out. The policy here is keep your noise to yourself. The manager Ramona is a nice lady! She is simply following the policy of the lease contract, So if you find yourself in trouble then you have probably created some issues for others around you. The people that complain here are the ones that keep causing problems for their neighbors. So turn your stereo down. Stop throwing loud parties on your patio and in the parking lot. Go to a club if you want to get crazy
The apartments are okay, it's the management that makes this place poor. I can confirm what other reviewers say- Ramona the current manager (on the third full set since I've lived here) is the worst so far. She is rude, doesn't understand that not every tenant is stupid and uninformed and I suspect that she pockets some of the ridiculous charges for things like maintenance repairs, replacement blind blades, etc. My rent keeps going up but my carpet is worn and disgusting, the unit is run down and outdated, and the patio drains don't drain. Not to mention the sewage overflow that happens (toilet paper just doesn't happen on a sidewalk). And my neighbor has wild children that jump and bang around so much I literally have paint falling off walls. Probably better quality of home life elsewhere.......
We CANNOT stand the negative attitude of Ramona the lease manager. She is always arguing and making up rules we have never heard of at any place we've EVER rented at before. We have no idea how she kept her job this long at this complex. We hope she leaves soon so we can hopefully get back to the way it used to be. This management does not find fun ways of bringing tenants together such as complex BBQ's, contests or social events like they used to. Those were fun not only for the adults but most importantly for the kids.
More rules than any place I have ever lived. Management rules take the life out of life. Can't have this, can't have that, can't do this, can't do that. Multiple apartment inspections throughout the year, not sure what their looking for/at because they don't say in the notice to enter. Management must not think that tenants understand or know California tenants rights, they are going to make the wrong person mad.. Been living here too long, it's definitely time to go!
When we moved in 2 1/2 years ago, Woodside was a great deal for an apartment (month to month leases). Now that we are moving out, they planning on charging $400 more a month with a year long lease for an old apartment (Loft/Studio) that has not been completely re-modeled since the 70's. There aren't any washer and dryers in unit, only one laundry area (most of the time the machines don't work), there is no spa and the pool is old and too cold to swim. Maintenance is bad, and management is even worse. The previous property manager (Josh) verbally allowed tenants to have animals, even though they weren't allowed, but ever since the new property manager took over, she (Ramona) is using it against all tenants and over-charging when it comes time to move out. They want to charge us to re-paint the entire apartment including the kitchen, walls, and CEILING. Legally, they can only charge for damage, not normal wear and tear so it looks like we will have to go to court. If you are going to pay $1500.00 a month for a one bedroom/studio apartment, I would go to the new, more professional apartment complexes in Simi Valley. As I see from other reviews, other tenants have all had the same problem. I would not trust this complex or the management.
I lived at the Woodside apartments for 5 yrs. When i moved in the carpet was used and after having my baby i requested a new carpet when she started crawling. Management said they would take care of it and they NEVER did. When I moved out i was expecting my deposit to be almost complete due since i left the apartment clean and in very good condition with the exception of the filthy carpet. Although i washed it, it was just too old and disgusting. I was so dissapointed when i got my deposit back. They charged me for normal wear and tear! It was ridiculous! Although my inspection papers said everything was in good condition they still deducted a ridiculous amount! I called the main office but they are horrible at customer service. They just ignore their tenants. No one ever helped me while living there. I tried to sew them but it was pointless. Fees, court appointments, trips to court makes it difficult and more money lost, and of course its me against a corporation that has money because they rip off their tenants. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
When I went to see the apartment, this manager Ramona did not give me enough time to see the apartment, I feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I was planning to move there, but not any more. I feel sorry for the peoples that already live there. I'm not perfect but Managers in general make you feel welcome and comfortable. She need to treat future tenants the same way she would like to be treating. When I left, I did not want to come back anymore, yes that was my bad experience.
New manager (Ramona) came in July 1, 2015. She has an aggressive personality, doesn't think before she speaks. She does shady things as I've seen first hand. Tenants have complained to Hunt Enterprises (management company for Woodside). Woodside refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and encourages this manager to act unethically towards other staff and tenants. I have spoken to other tenants about this person and they all say she is not the right fit for our complex. I guarantee she will rub someone the wrong way just one time and they will file a lawsuit or people will just start moving out. I give it 6 months before we start to see how she has messed up.
These apartments are a great deal I believe they used to be condos at one point I can't say much for the studio or the one bedrooms but the two or three bedroom apartments are two floors and they have a decent patio each apartment has a carport these apartments have a nice pool area and pool is heated during the summer we have a big laundry room the machines take prepaid cards that can be reloaded by the managers office. There's also a soda machine at the pool area that takes cards. Now for the cons of the apartment complex the parking spaces are marked by the unit number instead of letters which means that's people will knew what car belongs to what apartment which can be a horrible thing and the the locations off the spots make no sense it actually looks the management would give there buddies better spots, the stops are all different sizes some stops are not big enough for two cars too fit next to each other so they they get there first you'll have to park in the unassigned parking spots and sometimes if you get home late you'll end up having to park far from your front door and now for laundry the machines have a tendency to stop working and not if but when the machine that reloads the laundry cards stops working if you don't have money on your card your not doing laundry until the reload machine gets fixed weekends is the absolutely worse time to do laundry. There had been instances of packages being stolen very uncommon but it has happened there had been some recent drama with management. But for the most part these are great apartments there smack dab right in the middle of two groceries stores in walking distance to a high school, elementary school, gym, 711, chuys, Vons, Haggen's, a daycare, ice cream shop, train station, three parks a bowling alley, and in n out is about a 3 minute drive but the adjustments are on a major streets which means for the street side apartments like mine it's really nosey at 24/7 mostb units don't come with the metal security door but you can out one in if you want the two and three bedroom units have Central ac and heading I believe the other units have wall mounted units apartments do have dish washers I don't know if they come with refrigerators I know mine did not. Well I think that's it.
