The college town of Aiken is located in southeastern South Carolina near the Georgia border. It is home to the University of South Carolina Aiken and to Aiken Technical College. The city is roughly 18 miles northeast of Augusta, but unlike its neighbor, golf doesn't reign supreme here -- polo does. The heart of the city is its downtown area, a vibrant shopping and dining destination. Designed around cobblestone courtyards with fountains and benches, Downtown Aiken is an inviting place to live. It is home to a variety of art galleries, antique stores, the AECOM Center for the Performing Arts, and top-rated restaurants.
Aiken began as a railroad town in 1835, and Downtown Aiken is home to many historic locations. The Aiken Tennis Club dates back to 1898 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the Aiken County Historical Museum to learn more about the city's history.

Property Ratings at Woodwinds Apartments
This is the worst experience I've ever had leasing an apartment. I should have known this from the start when I was not able to view my apartment until move-in day. There was not even a model apartment to show. I viewed a virtual tour of a remodeled apartment and of course my apartment was not remodeled. On move-in day the apartment was not clean. I let the apartment know on my move-in checklist and nothing was done not even a call to apologize. The worst part of my experience at the Woodwinds was a gnat infection from move-in day until time to move out. Apparently the last tenant that stayed above me left in the middle of the night and never came back. That tenant left food to rot in the refrigerator and then gnats/fruit flies developed and spread to my unit. I know this because maintenance shared pictures with me before they left the company. Management failed to take this seriously and so I had to suffer for nearly a year. I contacted the manager of the property and I even reached out to employees of BH Management but none seemed concerned to get this problem under control. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
Awful apartment complex. I would never ever suggest someone to live here. Seems great because you have a pool, a dog park, and a gym. Well the pool doesn’t open until the beginning of June, and in South Carolina summer starts way before that. You can’t even go sit and tan by the pool. The pool is only open for an extremely short period of time during summer. Even when it is open, it closes every two hours, so as soon as you start to relax you have to leave. The dog park has been closed for a long time and even when it is open the people that live right next to it bring their three dogs there as if it’s their back yard and if you try to let your dog in they say their dog isn’t friendly and YOU shouldn’t come in. If they are going to bring their dogs there three times a day, then their dogs should be friendly with other dogs and people. So, residents can barely use the pool or the dog park. The gym is a joke and Its never been open. The people that work here are awful and it’s like pulling teeth to get ahold of them. They never answer the phone. All in all, do not live here!!!! The rent goes up like 300$ after your first year as well. They will fine you for any and everything. When you live here you notice there is ALWAYS moving trucks here because everyone is trying to get out.
Safe place to live with helpful staff and nice grounds. Things are well maintained and cared for!
Moved into Woodwinds Apts in May of 2020 and everything has been great so far. The staff is friendly and unlike so many other places, if you leave a voicemail, they get back to you in a timely manner. I have no complaints and would definitely recommend this community to others.
Im not in love with the apartment but I really appreciate the maintenance staff and the community manager! That sometimes is more important then brand new apartments!
Overall the apartments are in a good location, have great features. The layout is great.
We have lived at Woodwinds for 10 years and until your Company bought the property we were more than satisfied with our experience in this community...would have given an excellent rating. We want to remain here as long as possible, but require a little more time before evaluating Woodwinds Community under your management.
Woodwinds Apartments is a great place to live. They responded to service requests in a timely manner and there main focus is ensuring the residents are well taken care of.
Great place to live. Clean, friendly and quite community.
The community is awesome. Very quiet and clean. And the staffing is very professional and nice.
If you are looking for an upgraded apartment, look elsewhere. The finishes arent true upgrades and the cleaning of the carpets is disgusting. The windows are all old and the locking mechanisms are worn out and screens are missing. HVAC systems have to overwork when they run and the grounds arent kept up that well. You pay for upgrades but when underneath your sink is caved in or pretty gross they cant change that and just screw a piece of wood on top of the cave in not considering what mold could grow underneath that. The countertops have epoxy on them and mine were all scratched up when I moved in and I was told it couldnt be fixed so again Im paying for upgrades and my upgrades arent there. The carpet is so dirty that my socks were black everyday and at first I couldnt figure out from what. Ive shampooed them once and still cant get rid of the smell. I keep febreze in every room because otherwise the smell is awful. The community manager is sweet and Paige and Logan will try their best but Im guessing what they are allowed to work with is slim to none. These older properties get put on the back burner for these large management companies and it really shows here. Eventually this place will end up like the rest unless true attention is paid to the interiors of the apartments.
Woidwinds is a fantadtic place to call home. The entire staff has my utmost respect & are certainly very professional.
A year ago my response would have been very favorable. Today, I am not as happy with the "new management style". I find it to be a little "Cold and indifferent". I call the office and 9 times out of 10 I speak to a machine. The machine types what I say and I usually get some kind of reply. Occasionally I get a call back. Due to the Covid problems, no one goes in the office. (I understand that totally.) Under the circumstances, it would seem that person to person communication would be a priority even if it is on the phone. I do not consider e-mail satisfactory communication in a community that was alive and welcoming just a year ago. (That can not all be blamed on Covid) I have some difficulty with my computer and e-mail. I do hope that Woodwinds will soon be the kind of vibrant, caring community it once was.....Then I will be happy to write the kind of review that will make people want to live here. Holly. was and is an excellent manager, not just because she is efficient and very approachable. However, it was her personal touch that made the two communities what Woodwinds once was!
The Woodwinds Apartments are a very nice place to live. I like how the apartments are set up because I can still be in a community but not feel like it when Im inside. I cant hear neighbors in their apartments and it feels private. Experiences with maintenance have been positive. They keep you informed and are friendly. I was looking at apartments in North Augusta and came across this one and am glad I chose to live here.
Moving during Covid-19 had(and still has) its challenges, but Kendra (office staff) was/is very kind and patient through it all. She is to be commended for her professionalism and customer service. Gene (Maintenance) was also a huge help - he quickly identified the problem with my A/C unit and immediately got it working (a blessing because it was extremely hot outside).
Nice place to live. Neighbors friendly.
Poor maintenance of classic apartments, communication, and upkeep of certain areas of property. Only one garbage dispenser for the entire property which gets overfull and garbage left all over causing a bad smell and an unsightly look.
I highly recommend making Woodwinds your next apartment home. All the staff are extremely courteous & professional. Any maintenance concerns are done promptly & with the utmost care & efficiency.
Very good apartment, nice and quiet no issues
New maintenance workers are needed.
The staff is great! If you want a an apartment complex that is near a lot great restaurants and shops this is the right complex for you.It is a very student friendly apartment complex right near USC Aiken. The complex is very well kept and very affordable. It has a big pool and tennis courts, I love to play tennis.
