Where Uptown makes a splash with its hip restaurants, cool hangouts, trendy boutiques, and walkability and Highland Park exudes wealth and quiet sophistication, there's a Dallas neighborhood that strikes the perfect balance between the two: Oak Lawn. This fun-loving neighborhood is best known for its events, in particular its annual Halloween party and its Pride Parade. Cedar Springs Road is lined with shops, restaurants, and nightclubs and the beautiful Turtle Creek provides a tree-filled path for walking and jogging.
You'll find a wide variety of housing in Oak Lawn, from high-rise apartments and condos to luxury townhomes and charming duplexes -- some in renovated historic mansions. And while Oak Lawn is separated from Uptown by Turtle Creek, many Oak Lawn residents still claim parts of Uptown as their own.

Property Ratings at Wycliff Court Apartments
This is my very first apartment and I absolutely love it. The location is optimal for me, as I work downtown so my daily commute is ~10 minutes. Oak Lawn is a very fun and unique neighborhood and it’s right next to Uptown. I can walk to the grocery store and all of the fancy restaurants in the surrounding area. Access to the beautiful Katy Trail is within walking distance as well. This apartment complex is located in a very nice, safe neighborhood. I first fell in love with the Spanish/Mediterranean exterior but the interior is what I really love. This apartment was built in like the 30’s so it has much more character than most of the new apartments being built today. The interior is great - original cherry hardwood floors with a nice base moulding, arched doorways, very large windows with good blinds, tons of storage, cute door knobs, nice light fixtures, a fire escape and most importantly lots of square footage! I chose this apartment because it has a nice flow; the floor plan is cozy and remnant of a traditional home, as opposed to the newer apartments (that people only think are "nice" because they are new and that follow the “open-plan” trend which is usually poorly executed along with cheap finishes to match and unnecessary amenities to compensate for the overpriced rent, etc). Although I absolutely love my apartment, there are a few negatives and things other people might be bothered by. As these were built in the 30’s, there is no in-unit W/D. The laundry is located in the garage and some of the machines don’t work. Also, the only free parking option is street parking. These two things I don’t mind but some other things people might not like is that there is no pool area or private patio/balcony. There’s no central heating or A/C - we have window A/C units and an old-school gas furnace. I love my cute, small kitchen that came with new white appliances (including a gas stove but no dishwasher or garbage disposal in the sink) but it’s not a big, fancy “updated” kitchen or whatever so some people might be turned off by that. This apartment is very simple and clean and consists of the bare necessities but has so much character so I’ve really made it my own - I wish I could upload photos :P. I absolutely love living here but rent is rather pricey for what’s being offered, so unfortunately I might not renew… We’ll see.
If you are one in favor of accurate lease agreements, honest property managers, safe living conditions and effective communication....move along. Every promise that was made during the lease signing was not fulfilled, including a new fridge, stove and toilet. Yeah, the gas stove had to be leaking. We couldn't stand being in the apt too long because of the smell! The toilet went on flushing rampages and wouldn't stop flushing. That was "fixed" a few times. You had to open the fridge door at just the right angle to avoid squishing your fingers between the door and the window frame. The outlet that didn't work AND was hanging out of the wall (of course, right next to the kitchen sink) was never repaired. It was also the only accessible outlet in the kitchen. Like BIG roaches? They got em'. Andre, the property manager, doesn't know how to draw up a correct 6 month lease. May 1st was lease start. He argued that the end of November would make 6 months. Let's go back to 2nd grade math here....that's 7. It's pretty simple, really. He accused us of breaking a staircase handrail. It was barely hanging on when we got there. Had to be taken down to move furniture down the tiny, spiral staircase. Maintenance man came by and said he wanted to replace it so he could make it better. Then Andre accused us of breaking it. Quite hilarious. That was before he lied and said our deposit had been sent out. It's going on 3 months and no sign of the deposit AND he won't return emails or calls. You've been warned as I was by tenants who lived there. I should have listened.
It's been a rather interesting few months in tbis apartment complex. Ants, ants, ants! But-- they justify it by saying this building has been around since the 30's. Meh. Overall very pleased. Everyone who lives here is young, active. And surprisingly not loud! So that's lovely. I would recommend this apartment complex for the following reasons: location! You have uptown, gayborhood, and highland park within a mile either way. Love it. 2. Unique: every door knob is incredibly different, whether it's glass or faux glass, metal, etc. 3. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO IT! ... As long as they like it by the end of your lease- you don't have to take it down/ re paint! Hope this was helpful. Enjoy your search through apartments.com ! It's a pleasant one that found me my home.
