Hampden is only of Baltimore’s trendiest neighborhoods to live and is known for its quirky flair. Once a 19th-century mill town, Hampden has transformed into an enclave for food, nightlife, and art. The neighborhood’s main drag is “the Avenue,” a thoroughfare with an impressive set of independent businesses. Art galleries, vintage shops, and diverse eateries with 3-D signage shape Hampden’s unique culture. Special events like the annual Miracle on 34th Street celebration and Hon Fest (a celebration of beehive hairdos) abound in this bustling neighborhood. Affordable to upscale rentals in every style are available for rent from new apartments to charming rowhouses. Adding a youthful flavor to the area, Hampden is also near Johns Hopkins University, so it’s a great choice for students, faculty, and staff.

Property Ratings at Wyman Hills
This place is a nightmare. It was recently bought by Chasen Companies and every move has been to line corporate pockets with complete disregard for current tenants. Residents have been locked out of their buildings, workers have barged into occupied units without notice, and maintenance requests go unanswered. All they’ve done is slap some up some wallpaper that is already falling down and replace the complex sign with a garish one proclaiming the units to be “luxury.” Absolute garbage. Don’t move here.
Wyman Court has new management (Chasen Companies) as of August 2023. I moved in around the same time- the AC has been broken since I moved in and no one has bothered to fix it despite multiple emergency maintenance requests. Pretty unacceptable considering the heat in Baltimore. To top it off, my oven broke as well which of course hasn't been fixed. Go read reviews of Chasen Companies before you consider renting an apartment here
Wyman Court Apartment contracts a shady and nasty towing company who has previously been cited by Baltimore city for illegally towing over 200 cars. Since they have been cited this company seems to now plays tricks on people living in busy neighborhoods. There was no sign on a lot near this apartment complex that they own for months which allowed for the neighbors and visitors to feel comfortable parking here. A few months ago this towing company took a work truck from this lot even though there was no sign saying that they could not park there. Recently my car was towed from this lot and magically the sign reappeared on a city street sign. Wyman Court Apartments states that they believed the sign had been there for months, the towing company said that they were notified last week that the sign was no longer there, it does not make sense for the towing company to be notified if the owner did not know the sign was missing. After being informed that I could request pictures of my car when it was towed the towing company denied sending them to me and told me to ask Wyman Court Apartments. Wyman Court Apartments is now not returning my phone calls. This towing company also damaged my car but that is besides the point. Please get a respectable towing company that doesn’t swindle your neighbors.
Extremely friendly and welcoming community in northern Baltimore city. Wyman Court is composed of a series of connecting apartments encircling a well-kept garden and bench area. The rooms are priced very reasonably with respect to the location and amount of space (borders Johns Hopkins campus while allowing full access to the delightful and intriguing Hampden neighborhood). In less than a 5 minute walk, one can acquire hot chocolate flavored ice cream, find both pie and crepe themed restaurants to feast, and buy just about any strange item in the many eclectic window stores. The only downfall may be the lapse in management. Typically, one very nice woman is tasked with managing the demanding needs of all 100 or so community members. She does great, but it seems to be an overwhelming job that should be handled by multiple people. Overall, my fiance and I have tremendously enjoyed the coziness of our basement apartment, the proximity to many unique eateries and shops, and the daily geniality afforded by the fellow apartment renters.
The building is in a great location right by the Avenue in Hampden and it's about a 10-minute walk to Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus. The apartments are good for their price and pet-friendly. Honestly, not too much to complain about except the size is a little too small for my boyfriend and I. Plus, the service emergency after hours line has never been answered for me, even in a service emergency.
